Chapter 11.Are you still there?

"okay maybe you are right." that was his reply and thank God we were just a few minutes away to reach my apartment....when we reached my destination he pulled over and i thanked him for the lift then i opened the door to move out.

I was heading to the door of my apartment when he called out my name.

"Marlena first wait for a sec.." he opened his door and came out.

I stood there like a statue without moving an inch.

"yes do you need anything??" I asked him cause i was dying of curiosity.

"ain't you going to invite me inside for maybe a cup of coffee?" he asked me while putting his hands in the trouser pockets and smiling...but if only he knew how his smile affects me,he wouldn't be smiling right now cause am feeling strange things in my stomach.

"ohh about that!!! would you like to come in??" I asked him but right now i was getting nervous.

"haha....no I was just kidding about that...but can i please get your...uhm i mean can i please get your phone number??" He asked me

he was stuttering and i was surprised that he was also nervous and that made me smile abit.

"ohh yah sure..." I read it to him and he called on it right there and he said,

"that's mine...please save it."

I nodded and he turned to go back to the car...i was still staring at his back when i got a phone call and i was like why don't they call me when i need them the most??? they are calling just now when he has left already!!? wow!!?....it was Marble and i picked it up.

"yes babe what's up??" I asked her cause we rarely greet each other during our phone calls so we get straight to the point

"girl i just called to tell you that tonight you have no client so you can do whatever you like." She replied.

"pheeeewwww thank God cause i just got back home from a burial and am super exhausted right now." i replied her and am sure she heard my voice cause i sounded really tired.

"ohh who died?" She asked me

"my roomie lost her mom so i had to be there for her...now let me go inside and just sleep cause am truly exhausted." I told her.

"okay babes you take some rest and have yourself a goodnight." she then hanged up.

I opened the door and threw my tired body on the bed....i was trying to close my eyes and get some sleep but then my phone got a message.

"hey are you sleeping?....its me hope you saved my number."

oopppss!! is this Marvin?...marble's call interrupted me and i forgot to save it...so what should i reply him??

"yes i was about to and yes i have definitely saved it now." I replied him after sending the text i quickly saved his number but i kept the phone in my hands and waited for his reply and within just seconds he sent me another text.

"how is your schedule tomorrow?"

i wondered why he was asking me such a question all of a sudden!??

"well its the same as usual...am going to be at work the entire day...then in the evening i come back home and rest." i closed my eyes after sending the text cause deep down i know what i usually do after work.

"okay let me get to the point cause i know you want to rest....can i please take you out for dinner tomorrow after getting done with your work??" this text made me to sit upright on bed and i read it a couple of times just to make sure my eyes weren't lying to me....he wants me and him to go out for a dinner?? like just the two of us!?? hmmm now what will we talk about?? and what if i say yes then marble calls me and says that she has gotten me a client and i disappoint him?? so much was going through my mind right now.

"are you still there or you have slept off??" he texted again.

jeez!! what should i reply him right now??....i didnt know what to text him so i left it that way and pretended like i just slept off.

It took me time to get some sleep cause i was still thinking about his last text like what will we be talking about when its just the two of us???

I know its awkward but am not so used to talking with people cause even though am staying with someone here,we rarely hold a conversation for over thirty minutes cause i dont give her a chance to talk to me...its always me and my phone and the reason why I l hate talking to people is that they always Want to get too personal with their continuous questions and i don't wish to let anyone in my world cause am not ready to answer any of their questions.

And another thing is that am a boring character...i don't know how to flirt or come up with those crack jokes so that i keep the conversation interesting and flowing.

So if i try to push people away,its not that am being weird but am actually saving them from my boring self cause they really deserve better.

I went to the bathroom to shower and just sat there in the bathtub thinking about what Marvin just asked me...i later moved out from the bathroom and got my bathrobe and went straight to the fridge to find something to eat cause now my stomach had started sending me alarms that it's empty.

I got some cornflakes and put it in the bowl...then poured some milk and went to sit down on my bed as am scrolling through tiktok cause i needed something to divert my mind and its the best option cause its full of different content creators and with all those videos you can't fail to laugh.
