Chapter 10

Paxton Flynn

I was waiting outside on the porch of my house. From standing in the driveway, I walked over here to sit before my legs go numb. The stupid weather is acting up again, the evening was getting chiller every minute.

Stupid Landon was supposed to pick me up, twenty minutes ago and he was a no show. I was waiting for him though, without him giving me a ride, I have no way of getting to Dean's house. My bicycle is a big no and more over, my eyesight isn't the strongest at night.

I whisked out my phone, texting him immediately with angered thumbs.

Pxn- bailing on me?

He didn't reply, I expected that. I rubbed my hands together looking down at my outfit again. I wore dark jeans that were ripped at the knee and a blue sweater. Last time I checked the mirror - twenty minutes ago- my hair looked fine. Unlike some other people, I didn't have stubborn tangled messed up hair. It usually obeyed me.

"Wohoooo!" I heard the loud cheering of boys and blasting music from afar and I signed getting up from porch and walking to the driveway.

"Paxton!"

"Flynn my guy!"

Some guys hollered in the car as Landon parked right in front of me. He opened the door and came out, staggering a bit before reaching me. "Sorry I'm late, someone threw up."

I frowned in disgust, "in the car?"

"Of course, I'd have been in jail if that had happen. For murder that is."

I chuckled nodding in agreement. Landon loved his car more than he loved himself. He threw a flask to me. "Drink up."

I stared at the flask then at the guys in the car. Landon smiled, "don't worry, its my personal flask."

"Yeah and who's gonna be our sober?"

"We'll figure that out, drink up." He says nudging me. Without more hesitation, I drew the flask down, gulping down some of its contents. My throat burned as the alcohol went down and I passed the flask back to Landon, getting into the car.

The ride to the party was quick and all through I was praying for us not to get caught or even sighted my someone in uniform. That would be terrible. We were breaking three rules already. Underage drinking, drunk driving and speed limit. I was so grateful when we finally pulled into Dean's house.

The house was packed filled with teenagers, even outside was loitered with people. Half naked drunk people.

"Do you think Ryder's here already?" Landon asked me, relaxing an arm on my shoulder.

"I don't know," I answered looking around but not for Ry. "Get off me," I shoved his arm off.

"Well I'm gonna go find Caroline or any other kissable girl." He slurs.

"Caroline doesn't come to--" I didn't bother finishing up my conversation because he was already walking away.

I rolled my eyes and forced my way pass the bodies of grinding teens. Just then I was ambushed.

"Paxton!" Ryder shouts wrapping her arms around me and pressing her lips to mine. I don't flinch as she kisses me for seconds before I pull her off with a smirk.

"Are you drunk?"

She smiles, "no, I was dared to kiss a guy. You're a life saver." Then she turned around and raised two thumbs up to some group that were watching her. After that she wiped at her lips, "yuck."

"Shut up, that's not the first time you're kissing me." I say rolling my eyes and trying to find the kitchen.

"And hopefully it'll be my last. I'd never get a boyfriend like this."

I chuckled, remembering that Ryder was actually my first kiss. I was freaking over the fillings I was developing for some cute guy back in fifth grade and I didn't know what to do with myself. To test my gayness, I decided to kiss a girl. One night while Ryder and I did our assignments, I kissed her. She knew I liked the boy and was amused at the kiss. My embarrassment was epic.

Now I wanted to kiss another guy and he was off limit and not even present. Doesn't my luck just shine through?

I came over here to this party to loosen up and have a little fun but seeing all this grinding, groping and kissing people was making me depressed. The chances of me doing all that with a guy is 2 percent out of a 100. And I want it. Badly. I should have just stayed at home and read a book or something.

"Where are you going?" Ryder asks holding onto my hand.

"The kitchen."

"Why? To get drunk and not show up again until midnight?" She asks tugging me with her.

"Sounds like a plan. Where are you taking me?"

"To the dance floor, I wanna dance."

"Ry..." I start protesting but its too late already. She's managed to pull to the middle where everything was intense and really loud. Putting her arms around me, she starts dancing crazy dance that sends me laughing my head off.

My depression washes away and I'm smiling and laughing in no minute. Ryder brings on her A game and I just had to catch up. Anybody who see us would think we were some couple. With my hands still around Ryder's waist, I look up. I have no idea why but when I do, Sebastian is staring back at me, his lips quirked up in a smile. My lips part as I take in his appearance, he looks so nice as usual, his hair glistening wet and his superb body and muscles outlining the dark shirt he has underneath a hoodie.

"You aren't dirty dancing with me and checking out another person, are you?" Ryder teased bringing my attention back to her.

"Um... sorry?"

"Gosh, you're terrible."

"Insatiable is the word." I say looking back at Sebastian, he wasn't looking at me anymore.

Ryder rolls her eyes getting off me, "go on then?"

"Would you be okay? I could stay--"

"No you can't. Not when you're looking at him like that and you invited him, the least you can do is approach him."

"Okay, take care and don't let me look for you." I say walking away.

"Back at you, pops."

I roll my eyes with a smile that immediately drops by the time I'm close to Sebastian, replaced by nerves. Approaching is kinda easy, knowing what to say and how to react with him is the really hard task.

"Hey." I breathed out putting my hands in my pocket, to hide my fidgetiness.

He turns to me with a frown but immediately frowns when he sees me. "Sup, Michael Jackson."

I blushed, "tch, there was hardly any break dance going on there."

He shrugged, " was the first name that came into my mind. I'm not really current on legendary dirty dancers."

I turned redder biting on my lower lip, then desperately in need of a change in topic, I asked, "You came. Thanks."

"I didn't want to disappoint and make you hate me harder than you already do."

"I don't hate you." I say sharply and he raises a brow. "Its the opposite."

"So you like me?" He asks warily.

I turned around hiding my extremely red face and start walking. I feel him following behind and I give an answer. "No no, I mean, its the opposite as in, you hate me."

I see the kitchen and I sigh in relief.

"So you do hate me then? Or just extreme dislike." He asks again as if that's all he heard me say.

I enter into the kitchen and head straight for the fridge. My eyes land on vodka and orange juice and I give him my answer. "Like and dislike."

"What?"

I bring out the two drinks and see him sitting on the counter, eyes on me. "Like and dislike," I repeat. "When you're not being a pain in the butt, you can be... Tolerable."

"Tolerable?" He asks and chuckles. "That's a first."

I smile, his laugh really contagious. "Want some?"

"Nah, I don't drink."

"Hmm," I say raising an impressed brow. "That's a first too."

"Hope that doesn't make me look any less... Tolerable?"

Now its my turn to laugh. "No, it actually makes you more tolerable." He doesn't say anything, just smile and I mix a drink for just myself. While putting back to the fridge, I spot a piece of cake and steal it.

"Cake?"

"Sure, why not."

I hand it to him and feeling more daring...

"There's a pool out back, off limits for guest but, if we're really quiet I don't think anyone would know. Wanna come?"

I expected him to say no. I mean we'd be alone and---

"Yes, why not."
