Chapter 6

In that way he will be able to look at her without destruction for the last time. He was still flattered at how beautiful she looked wearing the dress. The dress that he bought for her but had never had a chance to see her wear it. This woman was leaving finally and it was because of his stupidity, he should have been brave enough to declare his interests.

“Ana I am glad you came. I was almost ordering our food, but since you are here I would like your company a little bit. I am sorry lately I have been very busy on my assignments I couldn’t even have time to take you out even for an ice cream.”

Ana was screaming silently. This damn stupid man is telling me now that he couldn’t have time for me after all the signs I gave him. I can’t believe this. Here I am going to get married in order to forget him and he is busy telling me how he want to take me out to eat ice cream. What a shame? I only needed him but not the useless ice cream.

Nick must have noticed her sudden change of mood and touched her arm. She jerked it away on instinct even Nick was alarmed. “What is wrong Ana?”

“It’s nothing, I just feel a little nervous I will be fine. Don’t worry about me. I think I have been in love with someone for a very long time, but he took me for granted .So I decided to move on with my life and make myself happy.”

“So you are going to marry out of necessity and not love?” Nick wanted to know more. The thought of her loving someone else was too much for him.

Ana on noticing that lied to him that she had moved on and has been able to fall in love with Mark and she is confident they are going to be fine.

On hearing that, Nick sank on his chair and his face became pale. He called for the waiter to bring their food as he didn’t want Ana to notice how disappointed he was. A part of him hoped that he could convince Ana to let go of Mark. But looking at her now, he realized he had no chance.

Their foods arrived and even though it was well cooked neither of them ate well .Ana finally called it a day and requested Nick if she could go home. Nick agreed and told her that he will accompany her.

As Ana was driving, he was following from behind. On reaching her house Nick alighted from his car.

He called Ana and when she looked at him he grabbed and hugged her for the last time. He didn’t know if he will see her again.

He smelled her scent and buried his face in to her neck loving the comfort it was giving him. He wanted to caress her all over and kiss her until she agreed to stay back with him. However he was not going to be the one to force her to stay, whatever she decided he will support her with a heavy heart.

He whispered on her ears” Remember I am always here for you, just call me whenever you are in trouble. I will come rescue you. Goodbye then my favourite agent. Until we see each other again”

“Goodbye my dear Boss. I will miss you.” With that Nick climbed on to his car and drove off leaving dust behind. Tears flowed on her cheeks. She wondered if they were for Nick or just saying goodbye was very emotional. Anyway she has never liked goodbyes, all her life everybody she seemed to care about was bound to say goodbye.

On the other side of the road, Mike who was just driving to Ana’s house when he saw a car parked outside. Looking at it closely he noticed Nick coming out from the driver’s seat. He went and hugged his woman and the most interesting part Ana accepted it.

He was about to go punch Nick on the face ,but on a second thought he decided to sit and watch what kind of drama was about to happen between the two. Deep inside he knew how much Ana adored Nick and it must have been hard for her to let go.

He thought “why the hell does he care?” He hated Ana and that is how it should be. In fact he smiled sarcastically and drove the car after Nick went away.

He found Ana crying outside the house. He lifted his hand and touched her cheeks while asking

“What is wrong my darling?

“Nothing, there was just some dust in my eye. But now I feel better that you have arrived. The discomfort was making me cry and I don’t like to be emotional”

“Okay, did you have a visitor? I have noticed you looking around as if you are expecting to see someone very special.”

“No I was only waiting for you to welcome you home. Please come in its getting cold outside.”

Mark sneered coldly behind her back, he already knew the reason why she was behaving that way. But he was glad they have said their goodbyes because after the wedding Nick will never see her again.

The next day, Ana called all her best friends to help her plan the wedding, now that she is not working she had all the time at her disposal to plan for the wedding of her dreams. After the marriage ceremony she will dedicate herself only to her husband and the kids they will have together.

A party was organized for her, for being the last day she will be single. It was a girl’s only night and drinks were served both alcohol and soft drinks. Ana did not drink alcohol and she was teased so much for that. She didn’t pay any attention to the girls, all that was on her mind was the decision she had made to get married. .Finally she will put aside a stressful career and be happy.

Sarah her only best friend came just to be with her for this very important part of her life.

In fact she was the lead planner of all the events. She was booming with happiness and made sure that everything was well planned

On the other hand Mark never had any party as agreed with Ana, he went for a drink at the bar and all the time he was on a phone call updating his brother on all the developments. They planned for a fake wedding, they were going to hire an intruder to act as the pastor who will marry them.

Another thing is that their names were fake and for a very long time people have forgotten who they were, not even Ana herself could have known who they were.

“Hey Mark, I will attend the wedding. I will be watching from a distance, I really would love to see her face and witness all that is about to happen. After that we will head to the abandoned cabin on the North. She will spend the rest of her life there very miserable and unhappy. I will make sure of that”

“Alright brother take it easy on yourself I am the one marrying her, imagine how I feel, being stuck with the person you don’t love. “

“At least she is beautiful” Mike was laughing sarcastically.

“Go marry your cars dude” Mark lost his patient and hung up the phone while cursing under his breath.

On the day of the wedding, it was a beautiful sunny day just as she had imagined. She had chosen her favourite spot on the beach of Mombasa for the occasion. All her guest were seated dressed in White and the pastor who was going to officiate the wedding was waiting for her at the altar.” What a beautiful scene” Ana thought to herself.

Mark was waiting, looking really handsome on the altar. The best man was someone she had never seen before. She kept on figuring out why Mark invited a stranger on their wedding day without her knowledge. But nothing was going to make her unhappy today, she smiled as she started to walk toward the altar where her future husband is waiting. She was very grateful to God for Bringing Mark along her way.

“She is really a sweet girl, so many men will be happy to have her in their life.” Mark thought. Right now he has no emotion and wished that the ceremony could fast forward so that the fuss could be over soon.

At a distant he recognized a familiar Prado V8 parked near the venue, and knew exactly who he is. He knew Mike will never miss the opportunity to watch the fall of Ana John. He was always the one so full of resentment. Despite his pleas that they should forgive and move forward. He never listened, all he cared about was the cars, travelling around the world and the thirst for his revenge.

However how much Mark was going to take part in Ana John downfall, he knew very well that things might not end well for them in the long run.

When Ana reached the altar, he realized that Mark was acting a bit weird, as if he was in a rush.

What could be happening to him? She was worried for him, given the kind of life his brother put him through.

”Mark is there a problem?”

“No darling just relax and enjoy this day, who knows this will be unforgettable day.”

“Yes honey I hope so “Ana replied.

The ceremony went so fast, when the pastor asked Ana if she will take Mark as her lawfully wedded husband, she said yes without hesitation.

When Mark was asked, he hesitated for a while until Ana was so worried, he just wanted to torture her a little. What Ana is about to go through, she will never forget for the rest of her life. That was the only thing going through his mind as he stood in front of Ana.

The pastor finished by saying that “I now pronounce you a husband and wife .You may kiss each other”

The crowd went wild by shouting kiss her… kiss her….. Kiss her….. Sarah was on the front row clapping and cheering loudly.

Looking at Mark, he was so distance and Ana didn’t like the kind of feeling she was getting all over a sudden. She noticed that Nick was also hesitating to kiss her. So she tilted her head up and forced him to give her a kiss.

It was a kiss with no emotion even her body rejected it. She looked in his eyes with questions written all over her face but Mark dodged her gaze by looking sideways. He was fed up with the woman pitiful state and he didn’t have enough patience to handle her anymore. If she doesn’t behave he will explode this very moment.

When the wedding was over it was time for the newly wed to go for their honeymoon.

Mark told her that it will be a surprise and that she need not worry because it will be the best place she has ever been to. So Ana was very eager to board the plane and be on their way to whatever destination he had planned for them.

But to her surprise, she was told to enter an old pickup truck which was being driven by Mark. She was so disappointed that her friends noticed the change in her mood.

”Mark you can’t do this to me. What happened?”

“Shut up Ana, I have had a very long day, the last thing I want from you is your nagging.

So be a good girl, sit down and let me take you to our destination. Our home where we will raise our kids.”

Ana was so scared. What did she miss? She asked herself silently.
