Chapter 3

Mark was surprised to hear a knock on the door very early in the morning. When he opened the door Mike was standing right there. He looked dangerously angry. His dark eyes scanned the room and then he ushered himself in without waiting for an invitation.

”Hey little brother, how have you been? I have come for you because my ears have heard rumours that you are messing around with the girl who is supposed to be our enemy.” How dare you do that to our family?

“Don’t bother me Mike, leave me alone for once in your life. Come on man, I am tired of all this, go on and live your own life. I want to make a perfect life for me and with the woman I love.”

“So it is true!” Mike said.” In that case you are coming with me.” At that instance two strong men came and tied his hands together and dragged him to the car. He couldn’t scream because of the fear of arousing curiosity from unwanted people who can blow things out of control.

They covered his eyes and drove around so many times that he began to feel dizzy. When the car came to a stop he was rushed out to the house which was located nearby. After being secured safely, Mark came over and said “Little brother I now have you at the palm of my hands, a little mistake on your part, you are a dead man.”

He gave him a stern stare that Mark realized that he was damn serious, blood can spill anytime from now. It didn’t matter to him that he was his only brother.

“You know you have forced me to do this, I didn’t want to end your life .You gave me no other choice by falling in love with that blond girl. What does she has that other women doesn’t have. Of all this women around you, you had to choose her. You have finished me Mark. For now it’s either you or me and I promise you it won’t be me.”

Mark was very terrified, he has never seen his brother that furious, all he could say was that he loved her and couldn’t control his feelings.

“Ooh….. Shut up” he shouted back.

It’s been one day and Ana hasn’t heard from Mark, she went to his house but there was no one home.

Her instincts kept on telling her that something was wrong and she must act very fast. She decided to come back at dark, and forced herself in to the house.

At first glance, she knew that Mark was kidnapped due to the state of things in the house. There was a flower base broken at the front door and it looked like Mark left in a rush. Immediately Ana remembered that she had placed a tracking devise on Mark’s clothes he wore yesterday and she hoped to God that he was still wearing them.

The purpose was to help her track Mike through him. Now the problem was how to track him without notifying the office ‘because she had been warned earlier that resources will only be available for use to capture Mike and anything that concerns his brother is not their business.

Ana immediately logged in to the secret service server with her boss’s password since in her level she didn’t have the permission to use the server without authorization. When she started scanning, she recognized the location since they once went there in search of Mike, but he managed to escape.

Before she could go out she got a call from the office to stop what she was about to do and to wait for instructions from the office first. The clock was ticking so fast, she didn’t have much time to think about the instructions from the office.

She took her gun and headed out in to the dark, one thing in her mind to rescue Mark and nothing else. She even wondered how crazy she has become about Mark, Just not long ago she had been in love with Nick. “Could she be in love with two men at the same time?” She asked herself. She knew it was impossible because all the fairy tales stories she has heard all said that one person can only love once in her or his lifetime. She was unsure which one of them truly holds her heart. But what she wanted right now was to save the life of Mark from his crazy twin brother.

She drove as fast as she could until she came to a halt in a familiar place where the house was unusually quiet from the gate. She entered from the back door and to her surprise Mark was sitting on a chair, his

Hands tied together from behind. He looked so emaciated as if he had not eaten in a very long time, his hair was messed up she wished she could brush them softly and tell him that It’s going to be fine. Mark looked at the door and saw her, she signaled him to keep quiet.

Mike came from nowhere and pointed her gun at Mark while telling Ana that if she makes one more step, he is going to blow his head.

“Come on, he is your brother” Ana pleaded. “Take me instead I am the cause of all this problems but whether you like it or not I love your brother with all my heart and I am willing to do anything for him, even if it means sacrificing myself for him. Tie my hands and let him go.”

Even Ana herself wondered why she suddenly said that she loved the guy. It was strange coming from her mouth but she bet she did it to try to convince Mike in to not doing something stupid.

“No Ana, he is going to kill you. You don’t have to do this for me. You have a great life to live even without me. But remember if I die I can rest in peace knowing that I met someone like you.

Mike laughed very loudly saying “what a romantic fools, so it is because of a woman you are going to betray me?”

“I really loved you I swear, it’s just that I can lose my freedom because of you two, so you are both going to die right now.” He pointed his gun at Ana’s head and said “ladies first” she was so scared that she closed her eyes and welcomed the tragic death that was supposed to come to her. She will embrace it with joy knowing that she will die besides someone whom she cares about. Then she heard a gunshot and when she opened her eyes the secret service were already there.

They must have followed her. Mark was shot on the hand and vanished in to thin air and drove away at a high speed that only a professional could have pulled such a stunt. Everyone was surprised even the men of law couldn’t provide a conclusive explanation.

“Son of a bitch “Nick shouted.

“How could we let him escape again? We had him right here. Where have I gone wrong? I have all incompetent officers who cannot do their work right, give me one good reason Why I should not fire all of you?”

He paced back and forth in the room, when he finally came to a stop he told everyone to go back to the station except Ana. He needed explanation from her why he disobeyed a direct order. It was her mistake that the subject has escaped again.

“Ana I am giving you the last warning. Never again shall you disobey me, I will strip you off your post and the mission. Are we clear about that?”

”Yes Sir” She said with embarrassment. All this time Nick was talking, she was looking down. She never

Wanted to meet his angry gaze which scared the hell out of her.

Seeing how afraid she was, his heart softened. She has a way of making him calm down his nerves just by looking at her. Something was making him worry. Ana has gotten too close to Mark to his liking. She had to risks everything in her career to come save him.

He suddenly felt sad that Ana was getting further away from his reach and if he doesn’t man up enough soon, somebody else will snatch her from him.

After being silent for a while he finally managed to say sternly “Good, make sure you give me results next time we meet.” With that he left and drove in a black tinted car that only the bosses are allowed to drive.

“Now that we are left alone all I want is to hug and kiss you my darling, thank you so much for saving my life” Mark whispered in her ears.“ I love you” said Mark as he held her closer to his heart.

“Me too” She replied unsure if she really meant it. Apart of her was still holding back and wondered if, it will be possible to completely forget about Nick that easily. She was trying so hard to remove him from his heart and allow Mark completely in.

“I admire how brave you were. You had to stand up against my ruthless brother without hesitation. You are my hero, I hope you know that.

“I was just performing my duty of catching bad guys”

Now more than ever she had to find Mike, For the sake of her career and the relationship she has started developing with Mark.

She started reviewing cases which Mike was involved in again, she thought it was possible that she had missed something important. At the back of her mind she couldn’t take Mark out of her thoughts, it was a dream come true. She wasn’t sure though if what Mark says she feels for her is true, but she was willing to give it a try with all the consequences that she will face.

Nick heard rumours from the employees talking about Ana and Mark. They said that the two were seen kissing and that just a few days they were jogging together in public.

One of them asked “Could there be something between them? I hope officer Ana can find someone who will make her happy. That girl is really pretty is a shame that the boss does not recognize how much she adores him.”

“What are you guys talking about?” Nick asked while standing on the door. He couldn’t help listening to all that the lazy people were saying about Ana and he was furious. He wanted to punch somebody but he had to control himself so hard.

“Can you all go back to your workstations and do something meaningful with your time. I believe we have a lot of work to do”

“What a snobbish person” they complained in low tones while going back to work.

When Nick went back to his office he could not help but get very sad. His mood changed that suddenly he didn’t feel like reviewing all the files on his desk. What he heard being said pierced his heart in a painful way he could not explain

Just the thought of Ana with another man was enough for him to go crazy. He wondered why Ana was in a rush, she could have just waited a little bit longer for him to reorganize his life. This way it was easy for him to take her as his woman.
