Chapter 4 Message

After several weeks of continuous communication, Mina and Chaeyoung got even more closer. They exchanged messages almost everyday. By talking about random things, the two found out the other's likes and dislikes.

Mina once sent Chaeyoung a joke which the latter found lame. The older sulk until the younger just go with it to make her feel better.

Those random jokes made them fond of each other. Mina can't seem to take her eyes of her phone whenever they two talk. She can't help but to smile whenever she remembers their conversations.

Today, Mina had just woken up from her slumber. She saw the clock reads eight forty-five in the morning. It was a weekend, so, she intentionally woke up late. The first thing she looked for as she woke up was her phone. When she saw it, she immediately looked for Chaeyoung's name and sent the girl a good morning text and a smiley.

She didn't want to admit to herself that she grew fond of the younger one. Every time she's asked about Chaeyoung she will just answer "She's like a sister I never had." Like a broken record she keeps repeating that to anyone who would ask.

"I just like talking to her. She listens very well.She's the only younger person I'm close with and I think that's why I feel like sharing my experiences with her." She once told Sana when the girl asked her who she was texting with.

After sending that text, Mina decided to keep lying on her bed and listen to music with her headphones on. This is how she relieved her stress from school stuffs.

"It's Saturday, so, it's her 'restday' as she liked to call it. She will be free from school and chores every Saturday, so, she took that as a chance to have a little "me time."

She was singing along to Bohemian Rhapsody when she get her phone vibrated.

After sending that, Mina heard her mom called her to eat breakfast. "I'll be down in a second, mom!" She shouted back.

She got up from bed and comb her hair before coming down to eat.

Mina hurriedly went down after hearing her mom for the second time. "I'm going to be dead if I won't be down now." She said to herself as she opened her room's door forgetting to bring her phone with her.

"What's for breakfast, mom?" She asked as soon as she got to the dining area. Wash your hands and have a sit. I cooked pancakes and some bacon. Do you want to drink milk?" Mina's eyes twinkled and she nodded vigorously. At home, Mina is the baby. Her mom pampers her so much because she's the only girl they have.

On the other hand, unknown to Mina who was eating deliciously at the dining room, Chaeyoung has been trying to call her for several times already. Wondering why the girl was not picking up her phone.

She's sitting on a beach chair when she tried calling Mina after the girl sent her the last message.

'That's great! Take care and have fun chaeng!' The message read.

"It seems normal but why isn't she picking up her phone?" Wondering why Mina didn't pick up, the girl felt a bit worried.

'Mina never cut our conversation before. She can't be sleeping since it's still early to sleep again. What's going on?' Chaeyoung kept on thinking what happened or what Mina was doing to not pick up her call.

She was having a staring contest with her phone when she felt a tap in her shoulder.

"Chaeng c'mon let's swim!" Rosé was smiling from ear to ear as she invited her to join their friends in the pool. The girl is wearing a one piece swim wear same as Chaeyoung. She already got tanned a bit because of swimming.

"Alright birthday girl. Let's go!" Chaeyoung said as she looked at the girl whose been soaked from head to toe. "I'll just leave my phone in the cottage." Chaeyoung said and showed her phone to Rosé. "Okay. Who are you texting anyway?" Rosé teased her cousin a bit. "No one. Just a friend." The girl answered and blushed a little. That didn't escape from Rosé's eyes but decided not to ask anymore.

Maybe I'm just overreacting. Minari must be busy. Chaeyoung thought as she was walking towards the cottage.

Right she's just busy. She put her phone inside her bag and run towards the part of the resort where her cousin and friends are.

Rosé waved at her. She noticed that the girl is wearing a life jacket. "Chaeng, we are gonna try the banana boat ride! Join us Jennie unnie is sea sick so she can't really ride these. What do you think?" Rosé asked Chaeyoung. The latter checked out what they're going to ride and her eyes sparkled. She likes daring things and adventures, so, she nodded her head many times. "I like that! I want to sit on the last line, Rosé." Chaeyoung pleaded that made her cousin smile and pinched her cheeks. "You are so adorable! Of course, you can sit there. Be sure you grip tightly so you won't fall off, understand?" The girl reminded Chaeyou ng.

Soon after they rode the banana ride, they tried various activities on the beach before resting a bit on the cottage.

Chaeyoung already. Changed her clothes after taking a bath on one of the resort bathroom. She immediately slumped her butt to their cottage feeling exhausted. She took her phone on her bag and saw no new messages. It's need two hours and Mina hasn't texted her back yet. Although Chaeyoung forgot about it for a while, when they returned from playing her thought went back to the unresponded texts and calls again.

'Maybe, she's just really that busy.' With that thought in mind, Chaeyoung took a nap in the cottage. She was really exhausted.
