Cadence chose not to speak anymore, and after about twenty minutes, he and Dein arrived at a small hospital. The hospital is secluded, so there aren't many people there. Dein was following Cadence while she was in silence. She can't help but think about what Cadence told her earlier.
'He wants me to kill myself? I can't believe he told me that!'
Dein tried to stop thinking and couldn't help but look around. The place was quiet, she didn't see any nurses walking around, and it was evident that the facility was old. She also didn't see any patients, so she wondered if that place could be called a hospital. But even so, Dein didn't pay any attention to that because the important thing was that her wounds could be treated.
Dein was quiet while she was treated by a young woman wearing a doctor's white coat. The doctor has light brown hair tied neatly, and her narrow eyes and small pink lips are also noticeable. The woman was treating her so focused. Dein couldn't feel any pain from what the doctor rubbed on her face and wounds.
It also took a few minutes to treat her face until later, the doctor started to inspect and examine her right leg.
"The swelling in your foot is bad, but I think you don't need an x-ray," the woman said initially without even looking at her. "It seems that only the flesh is affected, and there is no damage to your bones. Just cold packs, and then I will also prescribe you an ointment to apply to the sore part. For now, let's just put gauze on it to avoid pain. I'm just going to get something outside." The doctor added calmly and smiling, to which Dein only nodded as her answer. "Just wait here for a moment; I'll be back right away." And the doctor had left already.
Hakari came out of the clinic to go to the storage, where she saw Cadence in the pathway leaning against the wall. He was still playing with a metal cigar lighter in his hand. It's silver in color with an engraved MM that stands for Cadence Marcini.
When Hakari e passed in front of the young man, she immediately spoke to him, "Help me with the things I need to get from storage. I need a hand, follow me," Hakari said.
Cadence nods weakly to her.
Hakari didn't even bother looking back at Cadence because she felt he was already following her. She went straight into the storage room, where Hakari took everything she needed to treat Dein's foot.
"Who owns her?" Hakari immediately asked Cadence when she felt the young man had entered the room. Hakari turned her back to Cadence as she read the ointment label she was holding.
"Helmer," Cadence answered shortly. When Hakari heard Helmer's name, she automatically stopped reading and immediately turned to face Cadence.
"Are you fooling me, Marcini? Helmer doesn't bring his slaves to the hospital to get treated. If he doesn't kill them, he exiled it to a faraway place," Hakari said, thinking Cadence was lying to her.
"I know, but she belongs to Helmer… and taken and kept by Saint."
Hakari was even more stunned by what her friend said. "Saint?"
"Yes. Saint hides Dein from Helmer after the girl escapes from him. Saint was the one Dein asked for help when she ran away." Cadence explained. He also has trust in Hakari that she will not speak against Saint because they are friends.
Hakari couldn't help but frown and worry too. "Have you told Saint what could happen?"
Cadence nodded and then spoke again, "Yeah. I already told him everything. I also reminded him of the rules and the possible consequences of his actions."
"And what did he say?"
"He's determined to keep her."
"Kare wa jigoku no yo ni hontoni kurutte imasu!" Hakari said, annoyed, and she just walked passed Cadence and then left the storage room. (He's really crazy like hell!)
Cadence just shook his head at what his friend said because he didn't understand her remarks. Remember, he is pure Italian, while Hakari and his friend Hiro are Japanese.
Hakari just smiled at Dein when their eyes met again when she entered the clinic. Dein just smiled at her. She started to treat her again, and this time, she did it quickly because Hakari thought of meeting Saint later.
A few minutes pass, and the doctor finishes treating Dein, so they return to Cadence's car to go home. The young man was driving quietly while Dein felt hungry.
'I'm hungry.' Dein couldn't help but say those words in her mind. She didn't even know if she should tell the man she was hungry. But in the end, she chooses to keep quiet and keep her feelings of hunger to herself because they are not close enough to say those.
When they arrived at Saint's house, Cadence stopped the car in front and faced Dein.
"These are the medicine given to me earlier, and you need to take them to fasten the healing process of your wounds. Add to that, the ones you will use to clean your wounds are also inside the bag," Cadence said casually.
Dein accepted the paper bag. "Thank you," she said weakly.
Dein was about to leave the car, but Cadence stopped her quickly by gently holding her arm.
At first, Dein was stunned by that, but soon she slowly faced Cadence again and looked at him in wonder. The young man was looking straight at her, and a few seconds late, Cadence let go of Dein's arm and spoke, "I hope you don't mind what I told you earlier. It's just that, Saint is my friend, and I don't want him to get into trouble."
Saint was on his way to his office after visiting Helmer in the hospital. He'll have to take the papers he needs to sign and leave right away. While driving, he thought of calling his friend Cadence, who only rang a few times until someone on the other end answered.
"Give me some update," he said nonchalantly.
[I just dropped off Dein at your house.] Cadence answered.
"Did Hakari say something to you?"
[She didn't ask me any more details about what she saw of Dein's condition. But she knew that Dein was Helmer's slave.]
"Alright. I'll be home later. Thank you for your time."
[What news about Helmer?] Cadence immediately asked him when he was about to hang up. He was stunned by that, but it didn't take long before he answered his friend.
"He's fine. But based on what he said earlier, it looks like he's really determined and has no intention to stop finding that woman," he answered flatly.
[Then, give this girl back to him, Saint. It won't be long before Helmer finds out that you are the one hiding Dein from him. It will be a huge trouble, especially for you.]
Saint's grip on the steering wheel tightened because of what his friend said. He doesn't want that Cadence seems scared.
"Are you damn scared, Cadence? Are you that coward?"
[No. But it will be your fault if it happens. Remember rule number 3 in our organization. You have broken rule number 2, it's a big sin, and you know it.] Saint was about to speak, but he heard the call being disconnected on the other line, so that Saint couldn't help, but his jaw tighten.
In the organization that the three of them and Helmer belong to, there are rules that he breaks.
Rule 2, owning one does not mean owning another. That's why in their organization, the businesses are different from one another; Saint owns various companies related to buildings, Cadence owns casinos, and Helmer owns firearms. They can't be the same to avoid being rivals; the same happens to women.
The third rule is that a big punishment is waiting for those who break it and commit a sin.
And those are the ones that Saint violated; that's why he knows why his friend Cadence reacted like that.
Saint knows that Cadence knows something about what happened between him and Helmer four years ago, but Helmer has already paid for that, but it's not enough for Saint. He is also ready to accept punishment for those he has violated, as long as the essential thing is that he can get revenge, and this time, no one can stop him
