Chapter 05

Dein does not know if she will open the door to the person now knocking on the door of Saint's house. She was the only person there now, and she was afraid that it might be one of the men of Helmer who wanted to kill her last night. Dein could feel the rapid beating of her heart at those moments due to fear and nervousness.

The faint knocking continued, so even though she was scared, she slowly approached the back door while listening.

"Hello, is there anyone home?" Dein heard the unfamiliar voice from outside. "I'm a friend of Saint, and he's sending me to pick you up so I can take you to the hospital."

She breathed in relief because of that. But even though she thought twice before opening the door, Dein still slowly removed the lock on the door. She didn't open it wide and just peeked at the man from outside. The smile from the man immediately greeted Dein's sight, but she knew they were a little hesitant.

A muscular and handsome man was now staring at her. He is wearing shades and a black and white polo in zebra print, with matching white pedal shorts. Cadence Marcini (pronounced as Marchini) is a well-known Casino owner. Cadence is pure Italian, and all women will be amazed by his Adonis-like appearance. He also has a gentle face, the reason why he can quickly get the trust of anyone.

"Do not be afraid. I won't hurt you; I'm one of Saint's friends, so you don't have to worry." Cadence introduced himself to Dein.

He also couldn't help but look at the bruises and scars on the girl's face where he knew what she got from beating. It's a good thing that he was wearing shades at that moment, so it was not obvious that he was staring at the girl in front of him.

Dein suddenly remembered what Saint had said earlier about his friend coming to his house, so she seemed to breathe a sigh of relief, and just then, she opened the door wide so that the young man could enter. Dein's legs automatically retreated when the man took a step so that he could get inside. Just then, the young man took off the shades he was wearing, and Dein couldn't help but feel uncomfortable from Cadence's stares. That's why she quickly avoided it.

"Oh, I'm sorry..." the young man said immediately. "I didn't mean to offend you by staring at your face."

The wounds and bruises on Dein's face became clearer to Cadence's eyes when he took off the shades he was wearing, which is why he couldn't help but stare at her.

Dein quickly responded, "I-I'm sorry, I'm just not used to staring at my face, especially now that it's full of wounds."

"I can say that you are beautiful, don't worry... it will get better, especially since we are going to the hospital now," Cadence said sweetly and smiled. "Hmm, I'll just wait for you in the living room. You can change your clothes upstairs." Cadence said more, and then he simply looked at Dein's dirty clothes.

Dein shyly replied to Cadence, "I-I don't have any other clothes besides this."

The man noticed Dein bowing while speaking, so he couldn't help but say, "I think you should practice yourself to talk while looking into the eyes of the person you are talking to. Especially with Saint," Cadence said to Dein, which is why she suddenly looked up at him. Dein suddenly remembered what Saint had said to her earlier before he left.

Dein was silent since she didn't know what to tell the young man. It's a good thing that Cadence spoke again after a few seconds.

"If you have nothing to wear, we should go now. Let's go?" And Cadence didn't even wait for what she had to say because he had already left the house. Dein immediately followed him from behind.

Waiting outside was the new car that Cadence bought just a week ago. It is a Pagani Huayra BC that is worth a million dollars. Without a word, Cadence opened the door for Dein in the passenger seat and she immediately hop inside.

Cadence started the engine of his car and drove away. His car was followed by two black cars that Saint had sent as their escort to the hospital.

"I don't want to ask, but... why are you staying with Saint?" It was inevitable that Cadence would ask Dein those words while his eyes were on the road.

Dein knew the man had already learned everything, so she didn't think twice about answering him.

"I-I don't have a choice," Dein answered the young man sparingly while also looking at the road.

Cadence thought that she really had no choice because no matter where she went, Saint would find her since he had a lot of connections. Same as Helmer, who's also powerful as Saint. And Cadence was confident that if it wasn't for Saint's help hiding Dein, Helmer might have found her in about just twenty-four hours.

He had known Saint for so long now. And he knew that Saint doesn't do something bad for no reason. But as he said earlier… it's not a good idea for Dein to stay at Saint's place because she doesn't belong to him. She might even be the cause of trouble between the two, like what happened almost four years ago.

Cadence breathed out heavily. He was skeptical about saying this, but he thought it was the best thing he could do. "I'm sorry, Dein, but I can't help myself from telling you this," he said initially. Cadence felt Dein throw a gaze at him, and then he started to speak again, "You survived from Helmer, but it doesn't mean you won't have the same fate with Saint. I can't say if you might experience worse, but if you can't, and you don't want to go back to Helmer, and if you want to end this, it's much better if you will just kill yourself. You can't escape no matter what you do. You can't hide, especially with Saint. They will both look for you when you run away. I know this is a piece of bad advice, and I know this is not an option for you, but your DEATH is the only way for you to escape."
