Chapter 7

Blame

Kim Taehyung was there when the accident occurred. He was there when your sister died. It must've been so painful for him.

But that also means that he's the one who saved you. You were staring blankly on thin air while your mind was floating when you went home. Everything is sinking in now. He's connection with your sister is much deeper than you expected, and now, you're also involved with their connection.

But it annoys you, it makes you angry. The fact that he saved you made you angry and annoyed. He should've saved your sister first, he should've ignored you and just let you die because he doesn't even know you in the first place.

He should've saved her. He could've saved her.

The door creaked when you went in the house but a hand came in contact with your cheek with so much force, your head turned to the other side. You heard the deafening sound of the slap you received and you felt the side of your lip burst and bleed.

Your hair covered your face as you stood there frozen in shock. "Stop it." You heard your mom's wailing voice.

You slowly turned to look at your angry dad and your mom begging him to stop while holding on to his arm. Your dad's eyes were bloodshot and you can almost see his veins popping out on his forehead. He reek of alcohol again.

"This is all your fault. If only you listened to your mother, if only you didn't let your bratty attitude win then your sister would still be alive and my job wouldn't be this miserable." He growled as he spat those poisonous words at you.

Your tears automatically fell. He was right, if only you listened to your mother and didn't insist to go to that freaking concert then Kara would still be alive. If only you tried harder to stop her from taking your Dad's car keys that night then your dad would earn a larger name by now.

Kara's death brought you a lot of things. Sorrow, loneliness and hatred from the people you cherished. But her death also affected your parents big time. Your Dad had a big client that time, a victim of a serial killer which was a huge case then, they already had their suspect and only needed to prove it to the court but when your sister died, your father was so distracted. In the end, your father lost the case.

Everyone trusted him with that case and yet they ended up being disappointed by him. He was so frustrated when he lost the case as he was also grieving for the death of his daughter. In the end, that frustration ended up as anger directed towards you.

Your father grabbed your arm tightly as he pull you near him. He leaned forward, his angry face marks in your mind. "Why didn't you just listen?" He said.

You broke into tears. You were sobbing uncontrollably, you were regretting everything as everything flashes back in your mind.

"I'm sorry." You said until you repeat it over and over again. In the end, you were shouting those two words that seemed to be the only words that you know.

"Why couldn't you be like your sister? Why was it you that's left to us? Why not your sister?" He said like he was in pain.

Your cries soften. Did he just wish for you to be the one in her place? Did he just wish for you to die instead of your sister?

You stared at him, hurt. You can bear everything that he'll throw you but this. You can bear all those hurtful words and physical attacks but this. You couldn't bear to hear your parents wish for you to be dead.

Because at the back of your mind, you still hope that they are still grateful that you're left of them. That they are still happy that one of their twins survived. At the back of your mind they were your anchor, they were the only that stops you from thinking the same thing. That you should've died instead of your sister.

And you couldn't face the truth. That your parents truly wish for you to be the one dead instead of your good sister.

"That's enough. That's enough." Your mom came in between you and your father. She held your arm and your father's wrist and tried to tear them apart.

"Go to your room, Y/n." She said.

And for the first time, you were thankful your mom stopped your dad. You run towards your room crying.

"Take your clothes with you and leave this house!" You heard your father yelled before you slam the door closed and dive to the sea of pillows and cried yourself to sleep.

This was the first time your father raised his hand at you. This was the first time he hurt you physically. You were so used to his verbal abuse that everything that happened to you right now shocked you.

Your eyes were swollen, cheek red and your lip had a cut the next day. You tried to make it subside washing your face with cold water again and again, it did a bit but it was still obvious, you only stopped washing your face with cold water when you felt satisfied.

Everything was hurting and you couldn't tell anyone. Everything was aching and you wanted to scream but no one will listen to you no matter how hard you try to say it. You're trapped and no one is there for you.

The only person that knows your story was Taehyung and you have to avoid him too. He knows your story and yet you couldn't tell him this. He's been hurt, and he's still hurting and you're not one to add up and be a burden to him. Plus its not like you're his business nor his responsibility.

You were going back to you room after getting some air from the rooftop when you saw him at the other end of the hallway. Your hands balled as you look down, trying to hide your face as you pass by him.

You thought you were going to escape him but he held your arm and pulled you back. You hang your head low as you stood steady in front of him.

"What happened?" He asked stoic, no evidence of worry was in his voice.

You shook your head but he held your chin and tilted your head upwards. You still kept your eyes down as he look at your face.

"Where did you get this?" He said, pertaining to the cut on your lip and the bruising mark around it.

"I bumped into a pole." You smiled but your tears fell. You tried to wipe them as fast as you can.

"I'm not stupid." His voice was low like he's threatening you.

"I just...I deserve this. It's fine." You said softly, putting his hand down from your chin, you were begging your tears to stop falling in your mind.

"Did you punch somebody?" He asked.

You shook your head, "Did you spit at someone?" He asked again.

You shook your head again, "Did you disrespected someone?" He asked once more.

You shook your head, "Then you don't deserve this." He hissed.

"But I killed someone." You croaked.

You saw how he closed his eyes and how his brows furrowed. It's like he's pissed at something and he's fighting himself from punching someone.

When he opened his eyes you saw rage in it, "Why don't you blame me instead? Blame it all on me. I killed your sister, Y/n. I killed your sister so stop being so hard on yourself." He said.

But you only cried more. You can't do that because this man has nothing to do with your sin. He doesn't have a single thing to do with your foolishness and yet here he is, trying to take all the blame just so you wouldn't be so hard on yourself.

You heard him cuss then he took something out of his pocket. He offered you a handkerchief, "Take it." He said.

But you only looked at it as you cry. Kim Taehyung looked like he was out of patience as he grip the handkerchief again. Then you took a step back when he wiped your tears with his handkerchief.

And then suddenly, you found someone wiping your tears for you.
