Chapter 8

Sweet Aphrodite's POV

I stopped writing and I massaged the side of my head. It is aching due to too much thinking. I can't still understand and I won't stop until I understand what happened to Sir Pablo.

Did he forget it or he forced to forget it?

Or did he realized how dangerous it was and if we let our curiosity drive us, we could die? That is why he's acting like that?

But that seems not the case because I saw it on his expression that he was telling the truth when he cut off my words. I saw it In his eyes that he did not know what I was talking about.

Now I am panicking and confused about what to believe.

I read the last sentence that I wrote before I fixed my things and head out of our apartment. Our first subject is vacant that's why I did not bother to go to the school early. I am now alone walking out of the village since Irene and Stella have already left.

The deafening silence in the street made my heart pounded. But the fact that it is broad daylight, my fear decreased. I curiously looked around. The village is usually silent but today, it feels like it is a ghost town. I did not see anyone.

My brows furrowed when I noticed the crown on the far corner of the village. I was really curious so I decided to walk towards that area. I still have a lot of time remaining before our second class.

I squeezed myself in the crowd and my jaw dropped upon the scene. There is a dead guy and due to the so much dryness of his skin and loss of blood, his face is almost hard to recognize. There is a pair of small wound on his neck and by the look of his body, I already know who the suspect is.

I looked around and the terrified faces of the people are evident. Their whispers contain curiosity. This kind of death is very weird and unlikely of the common causes. There are reporters scattered and the authorities that are going to look at this crime.

Then I spotted a familiar face. He looks like he can't believe what he is seeing. When our eyes met, he immediately turned his back and started walking away.

"Sir Pablo!" I called then ran after him.

It looks like he wants to avoid him the way he made his strides bigger but since I was running, I was able to catch on to him.

"Sir Pablo!" I uttered and catch my breath.

He shook his head and stopped. "Good morning, Miss Villegaz," he said and resumed walking again.

I walked beside him and calmed myself before speaking. "You see that Sir, right?"

"Yes," he nonchalantly said.

"Vampires did that," I uttered aggressively.

He stopped on his track and I did too. He looked at me with wide eyes and lips parted like he can't believe that I just said that.

"I told you to stop talking nonsense," he whispered hardly.

I shook my head and stared at him. "That's true, vampire did that. Just a week ago, I learned that you believe in the existence of vampires. And the night before the morning that we last talked, we encountered them and they almost killed us. How did you forget that, Sir Pablo?" I hopelessly said, desperate for him to believe me.

He shook his head disappointedly. "You need to stop this, Miss Aphrodite." He started walking away again.

"No, Sir-"

He glanced at me with his glaring eyes while his index finger pointing at me. "He told me, he warned me about this! He commanded me to stop investigating the vampires and I should stop hanging out or even talking to you. He doesn't want to see us together and he must be crazy because there is no malice in the way I look and talk to you but he is goddamn territorial." He shook his head and for the first time, I saw him looking nervous. "And if I don't follow him, I'll be gone, Miss Villegaz."

My lips parted as I feel shocked because of his words.

"And yes, I didn't lose my memories. But I acted like I did to make you stop but obviously, you are persistent." He clenched his jaw and shook his head again. He stepped backward and stared at me with a hint of pleading. "Now that I told you, please, stop. For your safety and for my safety, too. I still want to live." With that, he left me.

So, he is the reason. He didn't make Sir Pablo forget. He threatened him.

I arrived at the classroom silently. The teacher has not arrived yet that is why I still have time to think. I bent down my head on the desk and closed my eyes.

Who is that mysterious man and why did he threaten Sir Pablo? Why did he save me when I was in danger? How did he know my name? Why is he doing those things?

Do I know him? I doubt that. I am maybe comfortable with his presence but I know he is a stranger. He is new in my life. He has foreign effects on me but I am sure that I don't know him personally.

I sighed and sat properly. Thinking this hard doesn't help. I should ask him when we meet. But when would that happen?

I haven't seen him for almost one week. Do I need to be in danger just to see him again? But I am not stupid to risk my life again.

Or maybe I need to force myself in forgetting all of this? I should stop being this curious because it is not doing anything good in my life.

"Sweet, someone is looking for you!" Ellen, my classmate, excitedly said.

I glanced at her then to the window and saw the girls looking at whoever the person on the outside is.

"Who is it?" I asked and stood.

"I don't know but maybe you could introduce me to him next time?" she said then giggled.

I chuckled at her reaction before I walked towards the door. My brows furrowed when I saw him again, leaning on the wall while his hands are on his pockets. He stood straightly when he saw me and his charming smile flashed quickly. His blue eyes seem sparkling while staring at me.

"Rage," I acknowledged him.

"Hi!" he greeted and gently grabbed my hand to kiss the back of it.

My lips twisted and I immediately pulled it away when I felt the familiar tingling feeling.

"You visited me again," I said and raised my brow while crossing my arms in front of my chest.

We are classmates on three subjects and the rest, we aren't. So there are days that we supposedly won't see each other but he always comes to visit me, for consecutive days.

"I just want to see you," he uttered nonchalantly and shrugged his shoulder.

He reached for my hand again and swiftly kissed it. I almost jumped then I felt my cheeks heated profusely. He laughed boyishly then his cheeks turned pinkish, too.

"Rage..." I uttered nervously with my heart beating erratically.

He smiled wider and he looks amused. "You have never changed," he whispered gently.

I stared at him confusedly. "Do we know each other even before we became classmates?"

His smile vanished and his expression became sad. I became more confused. Suddenly his expression changed again and he looked around as if he's assessing the surrounding. Then he stared at me and smiled a bit despite the seriousness on his face.

"I need to leave. I'll see you soon," he said and walked away.

Still have not adjusted to the sudden shifts of his emotion, I was left alone. I watched him walking away. I scratched my head then sighed.

I was about to walk into the room but someone approached me, handed me a small piece of paper, then jogged away.

Things are just being so fast today and I can hardly follow.

I opened the paper and saw a short message.

"Meet me at the rooftop." - D.L
