Chapter 10:Why did he sound so sexy?

"How's your leg now?" Dylan was asking me. He had come over for a visit to check on me and see how I was faring.

"Way better. Can't wait for it to be 100% okay.Should be in a few days" I told him taking a sip of my fruit drink.

He lowered his voice, "House boy is fine as hell! You didn't tell me he looked this good"

I chuckled, covering my mouth as well as my eyes darted to where Julian was seated with his laptop in front of the television.

Dylan and I were in the dining room.

He and Dylan had exchanged pleasantries the moment he got into the house.

"He's not all that fine," I rolled my eyes.

"Hell naw. If I were to be gay by any chance, I'd totally ask him out.

"What?" I laughed. "Shut up. Okay, him or Joey who's more handsome?"

"Joey is a fine man, no cap. But I'd have to give it to Julian. I'm sorry, Mrs."

"You're just something else," I smiled.

"And you mentioned he is been cleaning and cooking too? And he is good at it? Perfect husband material."

I scoffed. "Yeah he is been good in those areas. Doesn't stop him from being a jerk. By the way, I did introduce him to freelance writing to get him off my hair. He is doing pretty well."

"That's awesome. At least you have some company now. Since your man isn't around most of the times."

I sighed sadly, remembering.

Dylan's phone started beeping.

He picked it up and from the conversation, I was able to guess instantly who it was.

He had an apologetic look on his face the moment he got off the phone.

"I'm sorry I've got to leave."

"Its Audrey yeah? Just the few hours you wanna spend with your sis, she doesn't want that?" I frowned.

"Come on, Kara. She just needs me urgently."

"Yeah right. Just leave if you wanna," I waved my hand at him.

"Dude, don't start."

"Start what? Just go to your girlfriend. She needs you more than I do."

His face broke into a small smile.

"What are you smiling about for?"

"You sound like a needy ex right now."

I rolled my eyes and tried to stifle a smile. "Whatever. Just get going."

"I love you okay? Take care of you!" He leaned in and kissed my forehead goodbye.

"Drive safe," I told him.

He and Julian greeted each other before he rushed out of the house.

I walked over to Julian and peered at his screen from behind him to check what he was up to.

"You can stop your warm breathing down my neck now," he said and I flushed a little. I didn't realize I was doing that.

"Or if you wanna kiss me, just say so."

I pushed his head and he laughed.

"Stop making expensive jokes like that. I am married. To your brother, jerk. One day he is gonna hear your silly jokes."

"And do nothing. He knows I do not mean what I say 80% of the time. I just be saying whatever. Don't take me seriously, Kara."

"I just wanted to see what you're working on."

"I'm beginning to enjoy it and also get the hang of it.I hate to admit, but thanks to you."

I gave a small smile. "That's great,"

I slipped my arms around Joey and snuggled close to him, inhaling his sweet scent. He was working on his laptop.

"Baby, you're distracting me," he said to me.

"You've been working all day and you come home to work too?"

"I just have extra work today. I'm sorry baby," he continued without looking at me.

I hated this feeling. Of being starved of his attention even while he was right beside me.

Ugh. It sucked so bad.

I withdrew from him and straightened my night gown.

"I'd be in the sitting room watching some television. You can join me when you're done,"

"Okay," he smiled at me a little before turning his head back to the screen.

Walking over to the living room, I found Julian already sitting there.

He looked up at me."What are you doing here?"

"I wanna watch some TV," I announced plopping on the sofa while grabbing the remote. He held my hand as quick as I took it.

"Who says you can change the channel?"

"Who says I can't?" I asked back.

"You saw me here first," he took the remote away from me. He had succeeded in having the upper hand. I wasn't gonna give up. I reached out for it but he drew it higher.

"Would you give it to me, you jerk!" I hit him on the chest, my face twisted in a frown, frustrated that I could not reach it.

"Or what?" He smirked. "Besides, you should get off me. Is this another excuse to touch me?"

I hastily pulled away from him and folded my arms. "You win. But only this time,"

He chuckled and kept silent.

Okay, the movie was turning out to be a great one. But I was not going to admit that obviously.

I looked at how serious he was watching the movie. Okay, he had great taste for movies. We watched it together till it was over and I hastily grabbed the remote.

"My turn now," I said as I changed the channel.

"It better be something I can watch."

It was a Mexican series I loved and he seemed to like it too since he didn't whine or complain about it.

Ten minutes later, his phone rang and he excused himself.

I continued watching the movie by myself but then I started dozing off just five minutes after. It was boring to watch alone so I switched off the Tv, turned off the lights and decided to retire for the bed room.

While I passed by Julian's room, my ears heard some strange sounds and I just couldn't walk past.

I knew it was bad eavesdropping but anyway it was my husband's house! As well as mine.

I put my ears to the door and listened in.

My eyes widened at what I was hearing.

I could hear him grunt and moan.

Christ. Why did he sound so sexy?

And then he was talking really dirty.

The hell? Was there a girl in there? And how did she get in?

Only then did it occur to me that he might have been having phone sex or something of that sort. Probably with his fiancèe. Or maybe some other random girl, I couldn't tell.

Wow. I suddenly felt weird about it and had to force my feet out of there.

I got into my bedroom and found Joey sleeping, with a light wheeze.

Oh my. He said he was gonna come join me in the living room but there he was, sleeping his ass off.

I reached out and touched his face before climbing into the bed besides him.

I had been sleepy a while ago but after what I had just heard, I couldn't sleep a wink.

I just lay there thinking.
