• Eva's POV •
Sitting in the cafeteria talking to Dani, I realise with happiness that she's been my best friend for as long as I can remember. We've been there for each other since kindergarten. There have been no lies between us, ever. We know everything about each other, we share all our secrets.
Today, we were talking about guys. Well, we talk about guys everyday, so technically speaking, we were just talking.
"Cayden is really acting weird these days...I think he's cheating on me." she said, worry evident in her voice.
"Why would he do that? You can see by the way he looks at you that he's in love with you." I told her. I wanted to assure her because I couldn't stand to see her worried. Besides, I'm pretty sure Cayden is not that kind of a guy.
You see, when it comes to relationships, Dani is the first to fall head over heels in love. With me, its the exact opposite. I like to keep relationships strictly physical. After seeing Dani cry so many times after every breakup, I think it's just best to not involve emotions in relationships. My motto has always been 'no feelings'. No one gets hurt, especially not you.
Don't get me wrong, I've dated guys. A lot of them actually, it's just that none of them were serious and none of them lasted longer than two weeks.
"I'm not sure...he's been talking on the phone very often these days and he's cancelling a lot of our dates using silly excuses like 'I'm busy' or 'I have to finish my trig work'." she sounded serious and worry was written all over her features.
"I'm pretty sure he's not, besides, if I find out otherwise, I'll personally make sure he's castrated." I replied.
She laughed at this.
"Anyway, who's your new boy toy?" she asked eagerly.
"Relax, I just broke up with Riley yesterday, give me some time to heal." I replied, feigning tears and clutching my heart.
"I can't wait to see the day you'll finally fall in love." she answered between giggles.
"I'm actually looking for a challenge....normal hot guys are getting too easy," I said in a bored tone.
"Challenge like...hmmm...I don't know Tyler Benson?!" she replied, obviously pleased that she came up with this idea.
I thought about it for a moment, then let it slide. "Nah, he's not my type."
"Why, because you're afraid he wont fall for you? Or better yet, you'll fall for him?" She said excitedly.
My god, this girl is hell bent on making me fall in love. Too bad for her, that's never gonna happen.
"Of course not, he's just not my type." I replied in a monotonic voice.
"Do I smell fear?" She teased. At that moment, I knew if I didn't date Tyler, I'd never hear the end of it from Dani. She could be damn persistent.
"Fine, I'll date him just to prove to you I'm never gonna fall in love." I replied defeated.
"Finally!! So when do you plan to start, Starr? Or are you chickening out already?" She challenged.
I will be so happy to see the priceless look on her face once that stupid playboy boy has fallen for me.
"Well of course I'm not chickening out, I keep my promises. And I think I'm gonna start, just about now. But let me tell you, one night with him and its over, got it?" I said sternly.
"Fine, but your not allowed to lead him on." She said calmly.
Boy was she petulant.
"Deal." I replied as I walked towards Tyler.
I was about to play the playboy.
Maybe this would be fun.
