Chapter 7

Unfortunately, Nana overheard Scarlett's harsh words and came down to find out what was going on. She smiled the moment she saw Charlotte and that was when Annabel came out of the kitchen with the glass of water in her hands. 

"Put the water on the stool don't you know how to serve someone? After all, she is here to do what you couldn't have done in five years. Even though you have lived with Cole for five years you can't get pregnant. Just look at Charlotte, she did not even spend a reasonable time with my son and she is already pregnant" Scarlett scolded. 

Annabel was greatly hurt, so she dropped the water on one of the side stools and turned to leave the place. However, Nana's voice stopped her. 

"Annabel, I want you to apologize to Charlotte, for putting her life in danger," Nana said. 

Charlotte smirks the moment Annabel's eyes meet hers. Unfortunately, no one else saw that.

Nana's words were harsh and hurtful to Annabel's ears.  She has endured more than enough in the hands of Yates. Since Nana, the only person she cherished turns against her, She does not see anything else holding her back in the Yates family. So she stared at Nana and said

"Apologize for what Nana? She was the one who pushed herself onto the floor not me"

"Nana, did you hear that? How arrogant of you Annabel.  How dare you speak to Nana in that manner?" Are you not afraid? I did not blame you, I blame Nana for being so kind to you" Scarlett let out in anger.

"Mother, please forgive Annabel. I know she still feels hurt that Cole and I are together." Charlotte said softly and looked sad at the same time

"What nonsense are you talking about Charlotte, it's not your fault that she refused to get pregnant.  I mean, if Annable had gotten pregnant for Cole this wouldn't have happened" Scarlett added harshly.

"Annabel, do you still think that snatched your husband away from you? I mean everyone knows that it was not true. Cole and I had been in love even before he met you. So you see he has always been mine" Charlotte said arrogantly. 

 She then took the glass of water that was kept for her and started drinking from it.

"Oh, Charlotte you are so forgiving, Look at how you are treating her with kindness yet she won't apologize. Nana, are you still not going to punish Annabel after what she has done" Scarlett said.

Nana was now seething, she looked at Annabel in animosity and said.

"If you don't apologize to Charlotte right now, then I will be forced to throw you out of this house"

Charlotte instantly spilled the water in her mouth, She pretended to be choked. Cole rushed to her and rubbed gently at her back, pulling her into his arms with care. Seeing this, Charlotte quickly said. 

"Oh, Cole, could you please massage my back, it's hurt a little"

Cole nodded his head and began to massage Charlotte's back. 

Charlotte looked at Annabel and grinned, this enraged Annabel even more.

 Since everyone was so stupid to see Charlotte's pretentious attitude, she too would not allow herself to fall into her folly.

"What are you still waiting for? apologize before I take a drastic decision?" Nana yelled.

"Go ahead Nana and do whatever you wish because I am not apologizing to Charlotte. I am not the one that pushed her down" After saying that, Annabel cast a cold glare at Cole, who was now so uncomfortable in his seat.  

"Since when did Annable change like this? What has gotten over her" he thought.

Even Nana was shocked. Annabel has been such a gentle, kind, and easygoing person in the past. So when did she learn to talk back to her in this manner? Nana thought.

Unless Charlotte was the one who pushed herself on the floor, she did not see why Annabel would prefer to be thrown out instead of apologizing. Having considered that, Nana said,

"Since you have made up your mind, I am giving you two days to vacate this house".Nana declared. 

"Are you stupid? How can you choose to be sent out of the house instead of apologizing to Charlotte? Where do you think you will stay" Cole asked. 

He can't explain his sudden anger towards Annabel's decision. 

He was supposed to be happy that he had Charlotte all by himself, but he was not. Instead, he was filled with rage and irritation. 

"Does it matter to you if I slept in the gutters or not? I would rather become homeless than spend another night in this house" Annabel spat and went up to her room.

"Annabel! Annabel! Come back here" Cole shouted after her, however, Charlotte grabbed his arms and said. 

"Let her be Cole, come and sit here with me". 

.

Seeing this, Scarlett smiled.  

"Cole, you shouldn't care about that woman again. Look at Charlotte so beautiful and homely, I am sure she will make you happy," Scarlett said cheerfully. 

"Cole, Mother, is right, You don't have to worry about anything, I am here to take good care of you," Charlotte said and kissed him

However, before Cole could respond, Annabel wandered down the stairs with her suitcase in her hand. Cole stood up in surprise. Even Nana can't believe her eyes.

 Nana gave her two days to leave the house. Why is she so eager to leave? Does it mean that she no longer feels anything for him? Or could what Dr. Pat told him be true? Is she trying to get away with the crime she committed? If that is the case, there is no need to investigate the matter anymore, he could as well let everyone know the truth and see how she can deny that. Cole thought.

"So, Annabel, you can't wait to be with your lover right? Now tell me, is that why you want to leave the house so soon?"  Cole's voice sounded so tough and brutal
