Chapter 01
"ANYA!"
I was thrown to my feet by the shout I heard from outside. Some of my books even fell on the floor when I woke up. I didn't realize that I had fallen asleep at my study table.
Gosh, my neck hurts. Sandy didn't even wake me up to move to bed. I slowly walked closer to the window to see who was shouting.
"Hey! I'm here!"
Ah, she is, I hate my own language.
She even waved at me as the owner of our lodgings stood beside her.
"I'm busy today. Auntie Lucy is going to talk to you! I'm leaving!"
I just thumbed up to her and closed the window. I brushed my teeth and washed my teeth before finally coming down. We don't have school today because our professors have seminars so it's just a proper break and review before midterms.
"Good morning Anya." Auntie greeted me.
"Good morning Auntie Lucy." I greeted as I adjusted my tilted pajamas.
Honestly she don't care about they call to her. She was the only one who really told us to call her auntie. If she treats us like children, then there is no case even if we don't bleed.
In fact, Sandy and I are the only ones staying in their whole house.
It is two floors and has two bedrooms upstairs. Sandy and I just share a room so the vacant one can still be occupied. Our rent here is also cheap, including the 2,500 (individual) we pay monthly for electricity and water. There are no additional fees and the whole house is fully equipped.
We are lucky and we feel like we own this house. Auntie Lucy doesn't live here because they moved to the new house that her son's engineer built last, last year. So this whole house is ours.
This is not that big. is just right for a family with two children. There is a classic design of the house that Sandy and I both love.
"Sandy hasn't paid yet, auntie?" I will ask.
"She already paid last week. The reason I came here is different." She smiled tongue.
"W-What?"
"Because... someone is going to buy our house."
No. Is she going to kick us out?!
"Auntie... are you going to send us away?" I asked in shock. We are not ready yet!
"You won't be kicked out of here—"
She stopped explaining when suddenly a car stopped in front of us. A man came down here wearing a coat and tie while the other was wearing only ripped jeans and a white t-shirt. Maybe it's his personal assistant.
Wait?! I know them!
Sake.
"Good morning madame." the formal man greeted auntie. As I was just looking at the man just a few meters away from me.
He looked around the house before finally turning his attention to the house itself. After he watched he turned in my direction.
There is no emotion on his face and I feel like I was poured cold water because I still really smiled at him but he just avoided looking shameless!
Doesn't he know me?
"Boss it looks good that you chose the house."Sake said while still mumbling.
The formal man looked at him slightly because of what he said but later just smiled.
"Madame, we're going to buy this house."The formal man said to Auntie.
"NO!" I exclaimed. "Auntie, don't do it now. Please, Sandy and I don't have a place to stay." I begged Auntie Lucy so they Sake looked at me.
"Oh Anya! You won't be fired. Harold said you can still be here but only until you graduate." Sake explained.
"Really?" I can't believe my question.
"Yes miss but you also need to leave when you're done." Sake added.
"Wow! Thank you!" I said.
"But it's with me now in the vacant room that will continue starting tonight. Is it okay?" Sake said while pointing the vacant room.
"Ah, o-okay." my weak answer.
"Okay! Everything's settled. I'm leaving. Anya, I'm still going somewhere." Auntie said goodbye to me and pinched my cheek. "And you sir here is a duplicate house key for your assistant." She said to the formal guy.
"By the way, what's your name?" The formal guy asked me when Auntie was finally gone.
"Anastasia Yasha Lopez but Anya is just for short." my polite introduction.
"Were we classmates in senior high." Sake groaned that I was unaware that he was behind me.
He stood in front of me with his two hands behind his back. He just stared at me intently while shaking. What the heck.
"That's you." he said while his expression was blank.
"I am." I stuttered in response. "I used to be your partner on a project." I added as I just stared at my feet.
He just nodded and turned his back on me. Harold said goodbye to me and thanked me. Sake got in the car first and Harold followed. In the backseat he actually sat down. Shame on his boss.
I wave and smile at them before they finally pass me.
I never thought I would see Sake again. And I can actually be together under the same roof. Ah! This is unbearable!
After he left in Grade-11 did he continue his education?
I'm worried.
"GOSH! FRIEND! The security system of our school is tighter now. Did you know that since Monday each of us has been monitored by the school? Serious! And you know why? Because there is a missing HRM student. It's over The President's son is still your friend in the department! "
Sandy just came home from university and as expected a lot happened. I don't know, when I'm present there are no unusual things happening but when I'm not in school or I'm absent, everyone goes out there. Quiz, juicy issues about school, quiz and much more.
"So, why?" I asked her as we cooked dinner. She just sat on the sofa while resting her foot on the mini-table.
"It is said that the school is no longer able to secure the information of the students. It is said that someone is planning to enter our school and take everything to use against the personalities who have graduated from our university." She explained.
"The school's security system should really be stricter." I agree.
"Did you know that someone wanted to hack the school system on Tuesday. You remember when we surfed the internet in the computer laboratory, the computers suddenly died for about 10 seconds. Someone almost got into the system then. It's good that they caught up right away." She said while leaning on the sofa.
"By the way, Sake will live here."
She was immediately able to sit up after hearing what I said. "What?! Your first love? Why? How?" She asked in succession.
"he's supposed to be the assistant who bought the house. Did you know?"
"Yeah, Auntie texted me earlier until we could finish. We're okay here." She replied while leaning back on the sofa.
I turned off the stove and prepared the table for our dinner. I also took out of the refrigerator the cake I bought earlier for our welcome to Sake. Is it exaggerated? Do I look excited that he’s here? Maybe not.
"Seriously no? You still met after three years." Sandy said while just staring at the emptiness. I just smiled in response to what she said and silence enveloped us.
The two of us looked at the door when it suddenly opened. Sake immediately entered here while carrying his backpack. Sandy stared at us in turn and then greeted us.
"Good evening."
"WELCOME!" Sandy shouted as she jumped into her seat. Looks like I need to greet him too.
"Welcome." I said once waving to him.
he looked at us so I immediately diverted the conversation to dinner.
"By the way, you came to dinner with Sandy and me." I smiled at him.
"No thanks. I'm already climbing to the top." he replied before finally climbing.
This scene seems familiar. It's like he was just in the computer shop then, he also went up then and I just looked behind him until he completely disappeared like now.
"Oh, cold." Sandy said on the other side.
"Super cold." I answered.
"Let's just eat my friend." She suggested and sat down.
1:34 in the morning I suddenly fainted. I thought of drinking water first before going back to my sleep but to my surprise the light in the kitchen turned on when I went down.
I slowly hid behind the wall and peeked at who was here. It's Sake...
... and he was just looking at the cake I bought.
It was already on the table and he just stared at it. 'Welcome Sake!' it's just there so there's no problem.
Wait! WHY SAKE I WROTE?!
Ahhh! I'm sure he'll doubt if that cake is really for him. He didn't know it was him. Annoying.
"Sake..." he wet and then he sliced the cake.
Will he eat that cake? I asked myself.
He also took milk from the refrigerator and started eating the cake I bought.
He ate that! He smiled slightly after a few mouthfuls and sliced the cake again.
I don't know but I'm very happy. To my great joy, I did not go to the kitchen to drink and just went back to sleep.
To be continued...
