We went to the ranch, but there was no fire. I was surprised to see that. The man who brought us here vanished. Me, Charlie, and Isabel were staring at each other's faces. Suddenly, someone wrapped his arm around my neck and started choking me. I shifted my gaze to Isabel and Charlie. They were simply staring at me.
“Little help here,” I said with a faint voice. As Charlie heard, he started walking towards me, but in the interim, Isabel called Charlie's name, and Charlie stopped. Then Charlie shifted his gaze to Isabel.
“Let him fight his own battles. As he always says, he does not need anyone's help,” Isabel said while walking away.
“Pardon me,” I reacted.
Charlie raised his palm and started following Isabel. I was surprised by their behavior. They were unpredictable because when I told them I did not need their help, they came anyway, and now I need their help because the guy was chocking me to death, and they are leaving me instead of helping me.
I raised my eyebrows. So, I grabbed the person by his arm and pulled him to the ground. I then jumped and sat on his chest, and I saw the man smiling and staring at me. Tall and solidly built with fair skin. He has small brown eyes, full lips, small ears, and a large nose. He has hip-length, straight, dark brown hair.
He has toned arms, a stocky torso with defined chest muscles,
I gave my head a nod in frustration. I rose to my feet and started walking away. His name is Cole Anderson Pruitt. He is my brother-in-law. I was not happy to see him. Cole rose to his feet. The smile on his face disappeared.
“It looks like you're not happy to see me,” Cole said sarcastically. I sighed. I remained silent. Cole went close to Isabel and embraced her tightly. “My little sister, I came here to see you. Do not forget, I love you,” Cole said with a smile on his face.
May I ask you, why did you tell him to bring me here by lying?” I said this while rising to my feet. Cole shifted his gaze towards me. He touched the back of his head with his right hand. He said it with a nervous laugh. “I am guilty. I am guilty.”
I walked towards Cole. “You cannot joke about it. It is not right,” I roared. Anger was dripping from my voice. In the interim, I saw an axe hit the wall. I shifted my gaze towards my right and saw a man standing there who was not in a pleasant mood.
Standing 5' 2" tall with pink skin, he has vibrant, angular, brown eyes, a pointed chin, a small nose, and well-groomed eyebrows. He has shoulder-length, straight, medium brown hair. He has long arms, a muscular torso with defined chest muscles and a well-defined waist, straight hips, firm hands, and broad shoulders.
His name is Derrick. He is Isabel’s eldest brother, who is not fond of me. He is also a risk-taker but sincere with his family. He loves them more than anything.
Derrick started speaking. “Hmm, what about your joke?” I felt anger and disappointment in his voice. I lowered my gaze for a second and then looked at him.
“I sincerely apologized for what I did. I said this while pausing. “Also, I paid the price.” Cole raised his eyebrows. He acted as if he were in shock. “Hmm, marrying my sister is paying a price to you,” Derrick said in an angry voice. I gave my head a nod.
I sighed. Before I said anything, Charlie jumped into the conversation. “Umm, he did not mean that. Let's sit down and talk about something else,” Charlie said while taking Derrick away from me. Derrick jerked Charlie's hand in anger. He then shoved Charlie with both his hands. Charlie fell to the ground.
Isabel rushed towards Charlie, took hold of Charlie’s hand, and made him stand up. Isabel abruptly started talking. “Derrick, why did you do it?” Derrick was not paying attention to Isabel. Or maybe he thought that giving an answer to Isabel was not appropriate.
I was staring at him. “I want to know what you mean.” Derrick roared. I pressed my lips together. “Now you are exaggerating the matter. I just told you that I was ashamed of my mistake. And I apologized to everyone and corrected the mistake."
Before I added something else, Derrick rudely interrupted me. “So, she is a mistake now,” I sighed. I went to the shed. I stood leaning against the wall. “I do not want to argue with you. Now, you are manipulating my words,” I said with a soft voice.
Derrick smiled. “Unbelievable. I am manipulating your words. You did not seem happy today. Because I heard that you and my sister are celebrating their wedding anniversary today, “Derrick said it with sarcasm. I know I forgot it. I sighed. I know Derrick knows that I forgot it, which is why he raised this matter.
He always does that.
“I remembered it." Before I said anything, Derrick interrupted me again. This time, his voice was loud. “So where is the gift?” I squeezed my eyes shut and then opened them. I started walking in the opposite direction of the ranch.
Derrick started walking behind me. “I do not think it is appropriate to answer you,” I said with an angry voice. Derrick burst into laughter. Cole took hold of Derrick's hand. Derrick shifted his gaze to Cole.
"What?” Derrick roared while jerking Cole's hand. Cole gave his head a nod. As I was walking, a stone hit the back of my head. I yelled. "Ouch.” I then shifted my gaze to Derrick.
Derrick punched me in the face. Meanwhile, Isabel stepped in and broke off the fight between me and Derrick. “Both of you stop it. If they know, then it will be a problem,” Isabel said with a sad face.
I abruptly started yelling. “He started it.” I tried to approach Derrick's shirt collar, but Charlie and Cole restrained me. “Do not act like a child,” Cole said with a worried face. I burst into laughter. “Seriously, you are also blaming me.” Cole looked into my eyes and spoke.
“You always provoke him by saying foolish things, and then you pretend that you are a victim." Cole said while walking away,” You know how much he loves Isabel. He cannot not see her sad, but you showed arrogance towards Isabel in front of him, which made him mad.”
Frustrated, I gave my head a nod. “I do not know what you are saying." I said this while walking away. Isabel voice echoed in my ears. “Stop it” Meanwhile, Derrick jumped at me once more and pinned me to the ground, but he paused as if he were frozen when he raised his fist to hit me.
Derrick then rose to his feet. I raised my eyebrows. I was feeling lucky that he did not punch me again. But when I shifted my gaze towards the round, I was shocked. My entire body is filled with fear.
