Chapter 10

I shifted my back and rolled on the green grass until my back landed on a plain area. Pulling a pricky pebble near my shoulder, I tossed it aside and waited for the much-anticipated transformation of our moon. I cannot believe I'm doing this.

What's that sound? I would die of embarrassment, probably be punished also, if someone finds me sneaking out on a Red Moon. Joseph's sister did it and she met her true mate although she faced punishment. I will also get my true mate, I just need one small peak.

The same sound rattled me, I followed the directions as it led me to the end of a secret tunnel. The vanilla tint of the moon was slowly turning rosy. My heart started beating fast against my chest as I heard loud footsteps approaching me.

'She's awake, call the Alpha'

'It was the last gong, get him before he leaves the packhouse'

I heard several grumpy voices etched with urgency, spacing into the room. I battled my lashes against the light that was piercing my retinas. My neck hurt badly. I must have been out for hours in this uncomfortable position. I was a mess. My eyes roamed over my wedding gown which was tattered and soiled. Kane...

How could they do that. My Kane...

I felt an excruciating pain in my heart. It's as if somebody is ripping my heart out of my chest. My mate is gone, my true mate, the essence of my life, a part of my soul is just gone. And all that remains now is a void that nobody can fill.

How can you do this to me, moon goddess? WHY ME..?

'Soul..'

No answer.

'Soul, please talk to me'

No answer.

'I need you Soul, please...'

No answer.

I tried connecting with her but she just vanished. She was not there at all. Losing Kira must have been heart-wrenching for her as well. My cheeks felt wet. The pain in my heart was gushing out in form of my tears but no matter how much they are shed, the pain will never go. It will be there...

I cried and cried until I had no tears to weep. Two bulky men were guarding the doors, one of them practically ran out of the room leaving me with a bald one who stared at me and then at the cuffs around my wrists. After ensuring I was tightly clasped to the cuffs, and I cannot unfasten them, he shifted and stood behind me. The small pendant lamp suspended from the ceiling was obscuring my vision. It was all dark.

A few minutes later, two huge men graced me with their presence. One of them was unusually brawny and mighty. It didn't take me a second to realize he was an alpha. He seemed as strong as Kane. Black hair and blue eyes with tanned skin. The black wolf...

Him it was him, who killed my mate...

As soon as he saw me, he halted at the doorstep and his eyes gazed into mine with what seemed like astonishment, which I reciprocated with disgust and hatred. He regained his composure and stepped forward and took another chair and sat in front of me with a smug look.

"You murderer. Ho...how could you do that?" and I lost my calm seeing him sitting there in front of me after killing my Kane. The grin on his face just churned my insides with rage.

"You killed him. Why? What did we even do to you?" tears made their way down from my eyes even after trying to stop them so hard, I couldn't control them. The last thing that I would want is this man seeing me in my worst phase.

"I had done you a favor killing him", he smirked as he let out a laugh, tilting his head sideways.

"Curse you", I cried in anger while twisting my wrists in an attempt to get free.

"You really are naive. Did your 'so-called' mate even tell you about his family or himself? Not that I care of. You see, I will let you go with the assurance that I won't attack the Mountain View pack but, I need something from you. Fair bargain don't you think" he spoke as he circled around my chair. The way he said it gave me scary goosebumps. Different scenarios commenced racing in my mind. What exactly does he want from me. He had snatched everything from me. My mate, my life...

"What?", I murmured. I didn't want to give him anything that he needed but I cannot let him attack my pack, mom-dad. I don't want to give him anything even if it's something I can.

"I need answers. Only Truth and if you lie I'll not waste a second to snap your pretty little neck and then I'll kill everyone in your pack,... slowly...", his cold voice was laced with malice. He was serious and I nodded like a dog, getting ready to strike the deal this devil had offered. The smirk on his face appeared with a wide smile and the next moment it changed back to his cold face.

"Where is the key?"
