Julia Meetsell POV
The mating ceremony was one I had been waiting for. Happiness and nervousness hinged in the air while the pack members waited for the Alpha's Luna to be revealed and they all weren't aware I was the one.
"You don't have to be scared, Julia," My best friend, Abigeal, told me while I looked at myself in the mirror.
I was looking stunning with my white gown while my hair was packed up in intricate braids.
"What if they all reject me as their Luna?" I questioned Abigael who only kept sighing.
"I'm sure my brother won't allow them to. Your uncle and his family would also be shocked to their bones," She assured me while I nodded.
"I can't just wait to finally become Luna and prove everyone wrong," I said, peeping through the window to see what was going on.
I watched the smiles on the packs faces as the aura was filled with joy tailored with the scent of flowers everywhere and the distant howls of wolves in the forest.
"Where's Amorel, I can't wait to also watch the angry look on her face," I smiled scanning around but I couldn't see her anywhere.
"You don't have to worry about her, today is your day, so don't let anyone destroy that," Abigael told me while I smiled.
"You're the best!" I told Abigeal, who only frowned, adjusting my makeup.
My heart raced as I stood among the crowd. My family instantly stood up on sighting me and I could also see the shock on the Pack's faces.
At the center, I watched Alex, the Alpha, scan around the pack with his piercing blue eyeballs, his gaze fixed with authority and confidence.
The Pack's began murmuring among themselves as they all gazed at me with disgust.
"How could she be?!" They all mumbled in anger while I only played with my dress, nervously.
I slowly walked up to Alex, who put on a smile on sighting me.
I had always dreamt of this scene, hoping one day to be his fated Luna and here I was standing right in front of him.
As the ceremony began, I could feel the tension grow and I felt confused as the Pack's gaze was on Alex and I.
Alex walked closely to me, his gaze locked with mine as I could feel a surge of excitement burn inside of me.
But I suddenly felt confused when his gaze turned cold.
His gaze was now one of distaste and disgust.
"Wh…why is your face that way?" I asked him but his next word made me freeze.
"I reject you Julia, you aren't worthy to be my mate! A useless omega can't be my mate,"
The words Alex had spat at me were as sharp as knives stabbing my soul, I couldn't breathe and my whole system became numb for some minutes.
Was I so pathetic, that no one ever wanted me in their lives?
I staggered close to him but him keeping a distance only made me realize how serious he was.
"You love me, don't you?" I asked, my voice shaky, while I prayed silently all I had just heard were just joking words as I also watched the Pack sneer at me in disgust.
I then realized my uncle who had a smile on his face earlier and was ready to proclaim me as his relative, instantly sat back and his expression towards me was cold gazes.
I watched Alex scan me, his gaze dismissive.
"You're such a fool to ever think I'd be mating an unwanted creature like you," He sneered.
"I'd never stoop so low to mate someone like you,"
My face instantly burned in shame and pains as Alex's words echoed In my head. I never knew being rejected by my mate would be so painful since I also never expected it from Alex.
The crowd's mockery and mimicking tones only added to the pains I felt. I had been such a fool, a laughing stock to the entire pack.
But when I had thought things weren't good, I became totally dumbfounded when I watched Amorel walk out, her beautiful white garments and her heavy makeup made her look beautiful.
"No..no, it can't be what I'm thinking," I whispered to myself but my head started to create numerous scenes that could happen right now!
My heart sank when I watched them strike their lips together as they both moaned in pleasure.
"Wait what! Was Alex mating my worst enemy!" I thought and didn't realize when I lost my balance and fell to the ground, hitting my hands on a rod next to me.
I couldn't cry, I couldn't scream or talk or even feel any pain anymore,
I couldn't also express the way I felt but this was too much for me to handle, being rejected by my mate and he chose her worst enemy over her!
Watching Abigeal walk close to me, a glint of hope flashed in her eyeball.
She could speak to her brother and he'd surely listen to her.
"Abigeal, please your brother. Even if he's angry with me, we can resolve things right, he can't do this to me," I said, tears already streaming down my eyes as I clinged to her dress.
But her next word made me widen my eyes in shock.
"Stop being pathetic, Julia, stop!" She yelled at me and that was when I knew everyone had turned their backs at me.
I watched Abigeal also cheer as Alex's last blow came when he turned to Amorel, my bully and claimed her as his mate. The crowd's sound of joy erupted in the venue, celebrating the Alpha and his new mate while I sat, my heart scattered and my soul crushed.
I slowly stood up, watching the smiles on everyone's lips.
I was never going to be seen as someone important, was I?
"Oh Julia, I'm so sorry things had to turn this way, I think that's fate," Abigeal told me, patting my shoulders while I shoved it away angrily.
"I think I should really teach you a lesson," Abigeal said as a smirk planted in her lips.
Watching some warriors, who had changed into their wolf forms, I frowned.
"Before we start, I would encourage you to start running. You'd be torn off by these wolves if you can't, don't say I didn't warn you," She giggled and before I could ask her anything else, I watched the hungry wolves run close to me and I knew I had to run, at least to save my life.
My eyes became bloodshot when I realized they were getting near and mockery laughter only disturbed my hearing.
But one thing I was unaware of was the cold blue piercing eyeballs that kept on watching me.
