Chapter 5: The idol choice.

Yes, welcome! The president of the entertainment agency greeted and stood up from his chair as he sighted Emily McCall and the two applicants.

Mr Richard, we're done! Emily replied and they all took their seat.

Oh... Thank you so much! He said beaming with smiles, and just then his receptionist entered and served them all a cup of tea each.

Thank you, Halsey and Cali chorused and she merely smiled at them before heading outside.

So ladies, so you two emerged as a winner? Richard said and slowly took a sip from his cup.

Yes sir! They both replied and he nodded before placing down the cup.

I would have scheduled the last aspect of interview to next week, but we're really sorry "our Ramirez" have a shoot tommorow, That's why we wanna rush things... Is that okay with you? He said and they both nodded.

Emily if I'm not asking of too much from you, can you stay and_ _

I'll definitely be here to help, to choose the better one right? I'll do so, she said before Richard could finish his sentence and they shared and high-five, which got Halsey and Cali stunned but currently, that's not their concern.

Okay, ladies! Let's move to another hall for the continuation, the president said and they all stood up, he took the lead and they followed his trail.

Why did you take up the make-up profession? Cali started a conversation with halsey as they get ready for the contest.

Well, you can't call it take up because I merely know the skill but not doing anything with it, I went to a beauty school because, I'm to dumb to catch anything else, she replied funnily and they both chuckled.

I took it up because of my love for beautifying someone else face, I've been addicted to touching up my face since high school, so most of my friends request for it because I'm kinda good, the smiled they give when looking at their face in the mirror after being done with it always warmed my heart, so I decided to go for it to earn a lot of smile in return, lame.... Right? She said and Halsey faced her waving her hand negatively.

No... Never... No... No! She rushed her words and Cali smiled, you're so admirable! You have a nice cause, I'm badly envious of your right now, she added making Cali scoffed.

What is admirable? It's not the same cause I'm following now, I badly need money now, so I wavered from my cause, she said and her face dropped.

She knew Halsey gaze was telling her to go ahead so she bit her lips and continued, my mom.... She's so sick! Badly sick! Her health is deteriorating as fast as possible, I did all kind of work but trust me , I'm not good at any! I ended up getting scolded or fired at the end of the day, then I know... i just have to stick with what I know best, a make-up artist!

I heard of this opportunity from a friend, so I just have to do anything to save my mom, the pay is kinda good you know! she added and chuckled but Halsey can only stare at the pitiable applicant in front of her.

I'm sorry if I'm boring you with my story, I just don't have anyone to talk to, Cali said seeing the look on Halsey face but she nodded negatively and muttered a "no".

We're ready, Ladies! The president called out to them, and they moved closer with Halsey having the thought of loosing to Cali no matter what.

Two rookies idol from the entertainment agency were going to be used for the practical, Halsey and cali were provided with a fully loaded make-up kit.

Oh my goodness....! Halsey mouthed checking out the instruments, this is no joke, she added and Emily cleared her throat immediately.

Focus girls! She added and they both faced her, when your idol have an ad shot by the beach, what kinda make up are you gonna recommend? she stated out the question and they both exchanged glance.

Your time start now, Emily McCall announced and they both started immediately.

Halsey who was so excited to show her skills got burdened again remembering Cali predicament.

The theme of a beach shot should be cool to flow along with the water scenery but right now, she's going with the theme "hot" so as to give Cali a chance to win.

She's not the type to ruin her own work, so she'd rather go with another theme than make mess out of the cool theme.

AN HOUR LATER

Wow, girls... You really impressed me! Emily said taking a look at their work.

Halsey and Cali distanced themselves from the rookie idols to allow her come closer.

We don't need to drag this for too long, let's arrive at a point, what made each of you go with the themes?

Applicant number 12, you can go first, Emily said and Cali step forward.

I went with the cool theme as you can see, what made me go with it? Any theme can be followed based on the artist understanding, with my understanding... I think the cool theme would do better because, we're dealing with a beach here and the cool environment must reflect in the idol look to pass the message he want his fans to get, cali explained and everyone present cheered her with a loud applause.

Halsey face was beaming with smiles seeing she's a step forward, but wait... what am I gonna say? She said to herself as Emily pointed to her.

I'm dead, she muttered and slowly stepped forward.... miss Haynes, you went with the hot theme, can you tell us the reason for that? Emily asked with her hand pointed towards the idol.

Truth be told, Her work is looking really outstanding, even the idol couldn't help but stare at himself in the mirror, it's just too good! However Cali isn't slacking off as well, her cool theme was professionally worked on.

Even if there work can't talk, one can tell they are battling with each other.

I.. damn it! Halsey started off but eventually cussed under her breath, she just can't think of what to say.

She can't say "she want Cali to win that's why she went with the wrong theme" so, what the hell is she gonna say now? She thought when an idea struck her.

She can just make them believe it!

The environment is so cool already, so why must the idol get cleaned out with it? The idol must stand out big time, to make the fans more interested, artists biggest seller is their face which must be worked on make it eyeful, she said and hurried back to her place.

Did I just say that? She muttered and smiled scornfully at herself then maintained a straight face almost immediately.

Alright, we have come to the end of today interview, Thank you all for your hard work! Emily said and everyone clapped loudly.

The artist explained their work theme in details and they are both really good, however we can't pick them both so I'll go with the one which I think looks a little bit better.

She explained the theme of her work truthfully and we all agreed with her, which will now make me chose.... She went mute for a while but eventually voiced out.

Applicant number 12, congratulations! She said and Cali covered her mouth in surprise, she can't believe her own ears.

Halsey was really happy for her but was a little bit sad at the same time, she really worked hard for the interview but did she really throw her chance away?

Well, it's worth it .... A life is on the line! She thought and clapped along with he others.

Nope, This is way more better! A familiar voice said and everyone turn towards the door to see Ramirez pointing towards Halsey's work.
