Ch.3

"welcome to Red Sicily High, home of the Red Dragons and some of the most shallow people you will meet." Ellis sniggers, quirking a brow I look up at the massive brick building and take along drag of the joint before passing it to Ellis. Who take barely a pull before falling into a coughing fit harder enough to turn her cheeks and neck red.

"You have never smoked before huh?" I smoked most of it by myself but I barely felt it, I couldn't tell because I was thinking about Miles more now than ever or because this was a bad joint. But Ellis eyes were as low as closed and red as ever so It is definitely me and not the weed.

"Huh?" Ellis whispered back and we look at each other before she breaks into a fit of giggles. I chuckle and grab the clip and put it out on a quarter before tossing it out the window. "Are you nervous about starting a new school?" I take a moment to seriously think over her question but my answer comes out on the edge of a broken sob.

"Miles would have loved a school like this. He should be the one experiencing it, not me." I play with my fingers. Ellis next question is just as innocent as the first but it still brings a searing pain like someone sliced a burning knife across my heart. "What was he like?"

The question forces me to remember, the blurred memories of their faces starts to roll in my head like a vicious movie of memories that aren't mine. "Miles is- erm- was, he -he." My tears start to betray me but before Ellis can say anything the red and black double doors on the side of the school we are parked on burst open and a group of boys clamber out.

sweaty with duffel bags and some with basketballs tucked under their arms. "Basketball and theater are pretty big here. I usually just help with stage crew but this year I told myself I was going to audition for whatever lead role their will be this winter."

I nod, thankfully she doesn't push the topic but the last thing I want is to meet any of Ellis friends, especially not the possible owner to the jersey in the back seat. "Dinner is probably ready, you alright to drive?" Ellis seems to feel my energy change or she herself doesn't wan to be notice because she nods before we reverse out the park lot, going unnoticed by the group.
