Corbin’s Point of View
I shut the front door softly behind me, as I entered the house, I kicked off my shoes at the door and made my way towards the stairs. I took them up to my room when I stumbled into my brother. “Whoa, twinkle toes. Where are you headed off to? Is that deodorant I’m smelling?” Jimmy just ignored me as he looked at my bruised face. “Bad night?”
“At least I got the money.” Jimmy just shook his head at me. “So, are you going to tell me where you are headed?” He was dressed in formal pants, a button-up shirt, and black shiny shoes. “I got a date.”
“With a girl?”
“No with my shoes.” He answered sarcastically. “You know you should stop judging me just because I chose to dance rather than to use my fists.” I was in the middle of opening my mouth when I heard my mother’s voice. “Shit.” Jimmy gestured with his head towards the top of the staircase. I jogged up the stairs towards my room, shutting the door behind me, and continued into my bathroom. I stripped out of my clothes and cleaned up.
I pulled on some pants and went downstairs to look for the medical kit to clean up the bruises on my face when the doorbell suddenly went off. “Jimmy!” I called, but I got no answer. I walked over towards the door and opened it up. I quirked an eyebrow when I found a tall slim black hair beauty standing in front of me. I cleared my throat to get her attention as she was looking at my naked chest. “Can I help you?” I asked.
“I’m looking for Jimmy.”
“You are his date?” It actually surprised me when she nodded. My brother let her come over here instead of picking her up? Man, I need to teach that man some manners.
“Now, can I see him?”
“Give me a minute.” I motioned for her to enter. “I hope you won’t try anything with me, your brother has told me a lot about you.” I smiled to myself shaking my head. “I’m not interested in you, princess. You may be good looking but you just don’t tempt me enough.” She actually looked surprised. “I have my eyes set on someone more interesting than you.” She was bad, rebellious, and fun to hang around with.
“Jimmy should be down any minute.” I turned my back on her and made my way back to my room thinking to myself that I was definitely losing my game. I would definitely love to have her skinny legs wrapped around my body but then the images of Camille’s face popped into my head. The way she would be disgusted in me.
That girl was changing me without her even trying. Her playing hard to get, just made me try harder and it made me chase after her. I was probably nuts. But the girl sparked some interest in me.
I can’t believe I was stuck at home while my brother was going out on a date.
My brother hasn’t returned home until midnight and by the sound of chuckling and giggling, he brought his date home. I was just glad someone invented something like headphones with volume control that can basically cover up any sound.
I was walking down the hallway of the University, I greeted Shane and Dan after meeting them at my locker. Shane and Dan continued with their conversation while my eyes spotted a certain brown hair girl, scowling at the vending machine as it just shallowed her change. “I’ll see you guys later.” I walked off into her direction. “What happened to have breakfast before class?” I asked leaning in, my mouth inches away from her ear. She didn’t even stiffen at my voice or showed any signs that she was uncomfortable. “This stupid idiot swallowed my change. I am so kicking its ass.” She growled kicking the vending machine.
“Let me buy you breakfast.” I offered.
“No, I’m going to be late for class anyway. It just has to wait until lunch.” She said giving the machine one more dirty look before making her way. I looked at the machine and then gave it a light bump with my shoulder, the machine responded and delivered her snack. I grabbed it and ran after her, damn this girl can walk fast. I grabbed her by the hand just before she entered the lecture room.
The first time we met I came to realize that she doesn’t like being touched. She gave me a look of irritation but it soon vanished when she noticed what I was holding in my hand. She secretly loved peanut butter. I waved the peanut butter energy bar in front of her face. “I’m not a dog, waving a biscuit in front of my face ain't going to get me on my knees and wag my tail.” She wanted to leave but I stopped her.
“I did not say that you have to,” I said handing the bar over to her. “Not everyone wants something from you,” I told her, winked at her, and then watch her enter the lecture room. I turned around to walk off when I found Giselle standing in front of me with her arms crossed and her head dipped to the side as she watched me.
“Hi, Corbin.” Her voice was so much different. Like she was up to no good.
“Giselle.” I acknowledge her.
“How are you?” She asked.
“What do you want, Giselle? I’m not here to play your games.”
“Okay, what are you doing hanging out with that?” She was referring to Camille. “That’s none of your business.” I tried to pass her but she stepped in front of me. “She’s not even that beautiful.” I dropped my head back and let out a chuckle. “And you are?” She shrugged looking pleased with herself.
“Not everything entails beauty.” I tried again to move past her but once again she blocked my path.
“I want you back, Corbin.” I shook my head at her. “Not a chance.” She must be joking.
“Oh, I see what’s going on.” I looked at her with a frown. “Do you even know what you’re letting yourself into?” She smiled at me as if she won. “Just know this. I will bring her down and she is going to fall hard. And she is going to take you down with her.”
“Is that a threat I’m hearing?” I asked taking an intimidating step towards her. “She’s got you hooked.” She said with a shaky voice. “I wonder if it is her or is it because of the things that she used to get high.” She was like a two-faced-venomous-snake. Beautiful but her tongue held venom, her smile was devilish and her eyes as cold as ice.
“You have a problem.” She just smiled at me. “No, I just don’t give up.”
“Well, do give it up already because I have no interest in you whatsoever,” I said pushing her aside and out of my way. “Oh, and a friendly warning. Leave Camille alone.” Camille has taken enough blows to her heart, she doesn’t need this. “One slip-up, and I swear…”
“You’ll do what?” She asked standing on her toes, talking into my ear. “Pull me over your lap and spank me?” She asked in a teasingly way. “Kinky.” She added before I pushed her away. “I’m not playing around, Giselle.”
“So, am I.” She said looking me over before walking off.
