Chapter 4

They woke up early the next day for their honeymoon. They arrived early at the airport. No one speaks as they boarded the plane, but Luke can no longer endure the silence between them so he opened his mouth to speak with his wife who avoided his eyes.

"Are you okay? You're not even speaking since we left our house. Is there anything wrong?" Luke asked his wife.

Nina looked at him slowly and sighed heavily before she speaks to her husband.

"I'm okay," she said. "You don't have to worry. I'm okay."

Luke nods obediently. "Ah, okay. But why aren't you talking, huh?"

Nina rolled her eyes and said, "I'm not in the mood to say something that's why I keep my mouth shut. I have no problem, okay?"

Luke gasped. "I know. But you don't have to keep your mouth shut for almost an hour. You're not alone, okay? You can talk to me anytime. You don't have to be shy because I'm your husband now. We're married, right? You shouldn't keep any secrets to me. Is that clear to you? Do you have any reasons why you aren't talking, huh? I believe that there's a reason behind it. I noticed it, and even yesterday," Luke answered.

"Do you want to know? I'll tell you the main reason," Nina said sarcastically. "Do you want to know the main reason, huh?!"

Luke quickly nods. "Yes, I want to know."

"You'll know when we land at the airport later," Nina said.

"I can't wait for it. I want to know right now. Can you please tell about it?" Luke said, requesting her to say it.

Nina breathes heavily. "Okay, fine. I'll tell you the reason why I wasn't talking since we left your house," she said.

"It's our house," he corrected. "My house is your house too. We're married. We're living in the same roof now. My house is your house, Nina. You have the right to call it as your house."

"It'll never be my house, Luke. Your house and even all your properties would never be mine. It'll always be yours until you die. Your house isn't my house," Nina protested. "You should know what's rightfully yours. I know what's rightfully mine."

Luke winced. "I'm sorry, but my house will be your house too, Nina. You can't change it. You're using my surname now."

"I don't care if I'm using your surname now! We're married, but I prefer to use my own surname because it has no stain of blood. It's pure unlike yours!" She hissed. "I'm not talking to you because I don't want to see your face! That's the reason, Luke. Now you know. You should keep your mouth shut until we landed at the airport." Nina looked away from her husband. Luke didn't say anything as he heard her answer. But when they landed at the airport, he opened his mouth to speak to his wife again.

"Why don't you want to see my face, huh?" Luke asked his wife. "You should answer me please, Nina. I want to know. Was it because you believed that my dad killed your beloved father? Is that the reason why you don't want to see my face?" Luke asked her seriously.

"Why do you keep on asking me that question, huh?! Isn't obvious that—"

"I'm asking you that question because I want to know the exact reason why you don't want to see my face! I didn't marry you to treat me like this, Nina. I married you because I want to help you know the truth behind your beloved father's death," Luke complained.

"W-what? You want to help me, huh? Can you hear what you're saying?! I didn't marry you to treat me like this, too. You're a son of a killer!" Nina snorted angrily.

Luke is controlling his emotions because they're still at the airport. He doesn't want to make any scandalous scenes inside.

"Yes. If you don't want to see me, then why did you marry me, huh?! You had a chance before, right? I couldn't understand why you accepted the wedding proposal while you're accusing my dad for killing your beloved father. My dad is innocent, Nina. He didn't kill your beloved father," Luke said.

"You're a liar! Your dad killed my beloved father. You're a son of a killer and you can't deny it," Nina said sarcastically. She walked away and left him standing straight. She quickly enters the car and closed the door. Luke followed her there.

They're both silent inside the car for a few minutes before they arrive at the beach resort owned by their family. No one tries to speak with each other.

All the staffs of the beach resort welcomed them. They congratulated them, too. They knew that they were newlyweds. Nina faked her smile to them. She's pretending that they're both happy and in love with each other, but the truth is they weren't.

"We're just wasting our time here," Nina said as she breaks the silence. They're heading to the room where they'll stay for one week. "I really don't know why you insisted to have a honeymoon. We're not lovers, right. We don't love each other. The honeymoon is for newlyweds who loved each other unlike us. It's enough for us to have a wedding ceremony than to have this kind of stupidity. What are we going to do here, huh?''

Luke heard her words very clearly. He breathes deeply and touches his forehead before he speaks to his wife. "I want those people to believe us that we're in love with each other so I insisted on having a honeymoon because that's usually what newlyweds do, right? You know that. I don't want them to speculate something which isn't in our vocabulary. Nina, I'm here to help you. I married you because I want to help and protect you."

"To protect me, huh?'' Nina exclaimed.

"Yes," he said. "I want to help and protect you."

Nina laughed at her. "You're funny, right? I'm not in danger, Luke. There's no threat in my life. If there's a threat in my life, there's no other than your beloved father! He's a threat to me. There's a possibility that he would kill me, too," she said.

"My dad would never do that to you, Nina. He isn't a killer. He's innocent," Luke insisted. But Nina didn't believe in that statement.

"I don't believe you! You're both liars!" Nina snorted angrily. ''Your dad killed my beloved father and you can't change that."

"You have no evidence, Nina. There's no evidence to support your accusations. My dad didn't kill his own best friend," he said.

''Then who killed him, huh? Can you please tell me who's responsible for killing my beloved father if it wasn't your dad?!" Nina replied.

Luke shrugs his shoulders. "I don't know who's responsible for killing your beloved father, but the truth is my dad didn't kill him. Your beloved father is my dad's best friend, right? He won't kill him for sure. My dad isn't a traitor, Nina," He said, defending his dad that he didn't kill his best friend.

Nina glared at him. "If you believed that my dad is the one who killed your beloved father, why did you marry me, huh? Why didn't you decline the wedding proposal we had? And now you keep on telling your disgust to my dad because you believed that he killed your beloved father! I can't understand you, Nina. We're helping you, but you're rejecting that help we offer to you."

Nina didn't speak to him as she heard that question again. She shouldn't tell him that the reason why she agreed to marry him to get a revenge against them. It'll destroy her plans if she revealed it. It's better to keep it as she started getting revenge against them.

"You talk to yourself!" Nina snorted angrily. She's avoiding that question, and there's no answer she could say to him. "You're saying nonsense things, Luke. I hate you! You better shut your mouth!"

Nina didn't talk to him that night. She went to the bar inside the beach resort to drink whiskey. Her husband didn't follow her there, but he has someone who watches her drinking alone at the bar. He needs to protect her in the bar.

Luke heard his cell phone ring, so he quickly grabbed it and pressed the answer button. Ben, the waiter inside the bar who watches his wife calls to update him.

"Sir, you have to be there," Ben said.

"Why do I need to be there? What's happening there tonight? Is she okay there?" Luke answers him.

Ben sighed deeply. "She's drunk, sir," he announced. "You have to be there, sir. Your wife needs you now."

"Ah, okay. I'll be there in a few seconds. Thank you for informing me about my wife, Ben," he said, thanking him.

"You're welcome, sir. It's my responsibility to do it for you," Ben replied.

Luke gasped. "I know. I'll be there."
