Chapter 12 Exceptional Medical Skills

Ava brewed the herbs for an hour and brought it over for Lance to drink.

He looked extremely weak, barely conscious when awakened, but feeling slightly better than before.

After a few hours, around noon, Xavier miraculously discovered that after taking just one bowl of herbs, Mr. Mercer's complexion had significantly improved, his spirits were very good, the fever had subsided, and he showed no signs of weakness whatsoever.

With just a few needles and a bowl of herbs, he had actually recovered a lot!

"Mr. Mercer, it's great to see you finally awake!"

Ava was also extremely surprised, just moments ago she had been doubting Miss Jones's acupuncture skills.

Curiously, she asked, "Mr. Mercer, do you feel unwell?"

Lance took a sip of water and shook his head, "No, I feel much lighter."

Due to his old ailment, he had always felt a suffocating sensation in his chest, but now that sensation had inexplicably dissipated, leaving him feeling unprecedentedly relaxed, he sighed deeply in relief.

Due to his recurring old ailment, he had sought help from Old Hughes several times before, and while his medicine was effective, it had never been this good.

He couldn't help but turn to Xavier and ask, "What medicine did I take this time? It's very effective."

"Mr. Mercer, I can't say for sure, the prescription is with Ava."

Looking around and noticing Old Hughes' absence, Lance added, "Where's Old Hughes? Wasn't it him who prescribed the medicine for me this time?"

Xavier was momentarily at a loss for how to answer, hesitated for a moment before replying, "Old Hughes is not at the pharmacy right now, he's out on business, he'll be back in a while. Mr. Mercer, this time it wasn't Old Hughes who treated you, and the medicine wasn't prescribed by him."

Lance was surprised, he hadn't expected there to be someone in the pharmacy with medical skills superior to Old Hughes?

"Then who prescribed it?"

"It's—" Xavier didn't know how to introduce Deanna, so he looked up to see her, but she wasn't in the room.

"Ava, where's Miss Jones?"

Ava was puzzled, as Deanna had disappeared after delivering the herbs, "She may have left."

After all that talk, they hadn't mentioned who this person was.

Lance furrowed his brows, about to ask further questions, but was interrupted by a loud opening of the door.

"Where's Lance? How is he?"

The newcomer was out of breath, his voice full of anxiety.

Despite his advanced age, he exuded vitality. It was Old Hughes, who had hurried back.

"Old Hughes? You're finally back!" Ava looked at him, understanding dawning on her.

Since his phone was unreachable, she had sent him a message: Mr. Mercer is in trouble, his old ailment has recurred, the situation is critical, Old Hughes, come back quickly.

He was so far away from them when she messaged him, so she hadn't expected him to return so quickly. It seemed he had seen the message and hurried back.

"Lance?"

Old Hughes stood still, looking at Lance sitting on the bed, looking well and energetic, and couldn't help but feel bewildered.

"Lance, I'm fine now."

The three of them looked at him, all feeling a bit helpless. It was hard to explain the whole story.

Old Hughes curiously walked over and sat on the edge of the bed, "Lance, Ava left me a message saying you were in critical condition. But you seem fine now. What's going on?"
