Vivian held the boquet of white rose tight. She keeps on holding her breath as she was afraid to show her tummy. Anxiety fills her body as the flashes of brilliant light greets her as soon as she started walking down the aisle. Vivian smiled at the reporters and media that were gathered at the side of the aisle.
She have to talk to her father about it later as she already told him that she wanted an intimate wedding.
''Dad, why did you let them in?'' Vivian whispered to her father while keeping an elegant smile plastered on her face. ''I told you to not invite the media.''
''I only invited a few, Vivian. Besides I wanted the whole world to know of your marriage.'' Her father replied. Vivian did not answer back , she was being overwhelmed with all of what was happening.
She was never been nervous like that before. Although it was a calm and fine day, she still could not rest her mind. Vivian gaze at the beach and she noticed how the ocean was calmer than last night. It was as if the ocean was sleeping soundly and very peaceful. Then she glanced at the makeshift altar and saw her groom. Ever so dashing.
Vivian looked into Troy's eyes but she could not figure out what the man was feeling. One thing she is certain about was that, his eyes weren't cold.
''Hi,'' She whispered cheerily when Troy took her hand and led her at the altar. ''You look handsome today.'' Vivian praised him.
''Thanks,'' Troy replied.
Vivian took a small glance at the man beside her. The color of the sunset illuminates Troy's face beautifully. Vivian can see his calmness, she was gazing at the man beside her with awe that she lost track of what the priest in front of them was saying. All Vivian can think of at that moment is how gorgeous Troy Callahan was.
While deep in her thoughts, Vivian did not notice that the man she was secretly glancing at was already looking back at her. Upon realizing this, Vivian glanced away quickly and she felt her cheeks reddened in embarrassment. It was not because Troy was looking back at her but because he was smiling at her adoringly.
They must have looked like a real couple in love as some of their visitors awed in admiration followed by the flashing of cameras.
Vivian does not want to believe that Troy's smile at her was genuine at all. The man hates her to the core and it would be impossible for Troy to fall in love with her. Their marriage was just for show. Besides, Troy Callahan might have done it for the sake of their reputation to the press. He would not have done it if they were the only one present.
Vivian could not help but to think about the possibilities. If it was not her with Troy at the altar. If Louise and Troy were the one being wed. Would Troy looked at Louise the same admiration and sweetness he shown her. Probably. Yes, probably more. Troy's smile would not have to be forced. Troy's eyes would be gleaming with joy and admiration for his soon to be wife. His smile would have light up the entire room. She could finally see the happy and care-free Troy Callahan. But instead, they she was seeing the unhappy man that she will be soon calling husband. Vivian could not help but to feel jealousy towards Louise. And sadness for her and Troy.
They will soon be trapped to a disastrous and loveless marriage for all their life.
''You may now kiss your bride,'' the priest finally said.
Vivian's hand trembles as she held the bouquet and faced her husband. She saw a smirk plastered on Troy's face as he delicately remove her veil. The whole crowd got quiet in anticipation and she can feel the pressure from the photographers as they ready their cameras to capture the kiss.
Vivian took a long breath and held it in as Troy's face comes closer to her. She closed her eyes and anticipated for the kiss.
She almost yelp when she felt Troy's hand snaked around her waist and he pulled her closer. It happened so fast that Vivian did not have enough time to react. She then felt Troy's soft lips against hers and she was lost in the moment.
Vivian heard a loud roar from the crowd and a lot of clapping but they soon died down and she could not hear anything. When they pulled from the kiss, Vivian looked at her husband and everything around them turned into slow motion.
''Ladies and gentlemen, Mr. and Mrs. Callahan.'' The priest announced but she did not take notice.
Vivian was busy looking at her husband. Her husband that was smiling lovingly at her. It wasn't a forced smile. It was real.
''Wife,'' Troy whispered and smirked at her. He offered his hand in front of her and with a smile on her face, she took it. Vivian never felt that happy and contented her entire life, everything felt so warm and so magical.
It was like a beautiful dream.
--
The wedding reception was held at the garden of their villa. They put in tiny lights circling all the trees and a string of lightbulb filled the place. A band was playing some love songs on the side while a mini stage was placed in front where the newly weds would seat.
Vivian took a sip of her water and gently massages her feet under the table. As they were already aching from walking and standing for too long. They had been greeting every guests they have and each one congratulating the both of them.
The party was ending any moment and some guests already left.
''Vivian, are you okay?'' Violet approached her. ''Why are you alone, where is Troy?''
''He just went inside to accompany his grandma to their car.''
Of course it was a lie, Vivian do not really know where Troy had been gone to. She was just afraid to tell her sister, because she perfectly knew that Violet might scold Troy.
''Why are you still up? It's bad for your baby.'' Vivian told her sister as she caressed her baby bump. Vivian suddenly felt envious of her sister's child, a child made with love. She wonders what grim fate her children will have with parents that does not really love each other.
Violet hugged her, ''Would you mind accompanying me to my room? I'm afraid Mom and Dad's still busy chatting with their colleagues.''
Vivian agreed.
As they made their way inside the house. Vivian heard her husbands voice just behind an old tree. She stopped on her tracks and glanced at her sister who also heard the voice.
''I will follow you inside, Violet. I just have to check on Troy.''
Violet agreed reluctantly and walked ahead. Vivian's steps were heavy as she approached the tree. She do not know what lies ahead but she just kept on walking quietly. Afraid to make any noise.
There was an eerie feeling inside her chest. It was like telling her that something was wrong.
And she wasn't mistaken.
There she saw her husband hugging another girl. Not just some girl. It was Louise. The one that her husband really loves.
