forgotten that you are betrothed

James frowned, he turned and looked at me,  I looked familiar but he couldn't remember where he met me other than the bar. I wouldn't blame him though, he just got a glimpse at me back then.

" two years ago at the  design competition ". I whispered to him.

James finally recalls where he met me.

" We've been dating for about two years now.it's my business, I don't plan on making my private life your headline. We didn't plan on announcing it until we had fixed a date for the wedding.  Since you all found out earlier than expected, we will use this opportunity to let you all know that we will be getting married soon when we chose an official date it will be announced".

'Well I definitely didn't not see that coming,  first I suddenly turned to his fiancee now he's making wedding plans '

The reporters found his story hard to believe. How could he possibly date her for over a year and he didn’t so any sign or give any hint. It was quit unbelievable to them.

" Mr Williams is your family aware of your relationship with her are they against it  is that why you hid your relationship".

" Mr Williams,  you said you've been dating for over a year now, how come no one has ever seen you two together before, how is that possible ".

Williams looked up and smiled before saying

" I don’t know if you can remember the news that's circulated over a year ago that I was dating a student I did not deny or accept it, well she’s the student. I was just trying  I didn’t want her to be harassed while she was still. I didn't want to affect her studies. I didn't deny that because when the truth comes out you might use it against me".

The reporters were quite disappointed but it wasn’t a waste they finally found out who he was dating and this was also great news to them and he’s pending marriage was going to be a great headline for tomorrow's paper cover.

 They all rushed to their various companies to publish the news. Immediately they left, Williams walked to the door and bolted the door. 

Jane finally recovered from her shock, everything that happened earlier was alot for her to take in at once. She took a deep breath and then looked at Williams. 

" If I may ask, why exactly are you in my room? Am not in the wrong room, am i?".

" It can't be  this is the room I booked so what are you doing here "?

Williams looked at Jane, he was trying to see if she was faking it at this moment he couldn't trust anyone.

" Well blame the receptionist, I came to book a room and she booked this room for me, gave me the card and directed me here". Williams replied. 

Jane just sat there  without saying anything,  she was trying to see were exactly the problem was from,everything that happened today came as a shock to her need time to digest them, she just thinking about what to do next when it suddenly dawn on her that she has become Williams fiancee.

She quickly turned and stared at Williams waiting patiently for him to fill her in on his next plan. Williams was on the phone with his assistant trying to make the best out of the situation, he felt a gaze on him he looked up and saw Jane staring at him, she was so focused.

When Jane noticed that Williams was now looking at her, she quickly lowered her head and avoided his gaze.

"Get dressed, we will talk when you're ready".

 Williams said as he walks out of the room. Jane finally remembered that she had no clothes on.

'Thi is so embarrassing ' Jane said to herself. 

She held the bed cover around her firmly and got down from the bed to pick up her dress. Jane dashed into the bathroom, she took a quick shower. She wrapped a towel around and stepped out of the shower,  she looked at herself in the mirror with a smile on her face.

'Today is my lucky day'. She thought to herself, Jane felt like her dream was finally coming true, the man she had loved and dreamt of for years was hers, atleast for now she thought. 

She kept smiling foolishly at her reflection,  she calmed her exited nerves and quickly wore her clothes. She got dressed and came out of the bathroom.  When Jane came out Williams was still on the phone, when he noticed that Jane was out he picked up his jacket while he was instructing the person at the other end of the phone. After a few minutes he was done with his call. With his attention on Jane he said 

"If you are done let's get going ".

Jane was a bit confused,  didn't he say they will talk when she was done so what does he me by 'let's get going ' going where exactly. 

When Williams noticed that she was confused he added 

"We will talk about it in the car".

After Williams said this he walked towards the door,  Jane quickly followed him. They left the hotel together, they got into Williams car and drove out of the hotel. 

" What happened earlier was a plot against me to throw me off balance and destroy my reputation. You don't need to know the details". Williams said  he wasn't bothered about Jane,  he didn't cre if she understood or not,  he continued. 

"Are you in a relationship with any one, if yes am sorry you have to end things with him, I will compaciate him, if not well that is better as it makes everything easier.  It is known to everyone now that you are my fiancee so you better watch how you act in public".

Jane stared blankly at him, though she likes him she wasn't really comfortable with the way he was speaking to her without considering her feelings as if her opinion is useless. 

"What if I am not interested ".

Williams chuckled and said " You seem to have forgotten what you did last night at the bar, you were hitting on me. You're interested in me so I am sure you won't reject my offer"

When Williams said this Jane was speechless,  she had really forgotten what she did but after Williams' reminder everything came back, she was embarrassed. 

" where do you live? I will drop you off. This is my card, come to my office tomorrow,  I will brief you on everything you need to know. Go home and get yourself ready".

Jane took the card from him and gave him the address to her apartment . 

When Jane got home she called her mom to inform her.

" Hey mom "

"I know "

" Guess you've seen the news already ". Her mom did say anything for a while before saying 

"Are you really going to marry him, I remember you were not dating anyone so how come you are about to get married to him all of a sudden and don't try to make up any story  you know you can fool me easily. I know you too well Jane, you can't hide anything from me so don't even try. You know what,  just come home right now".

Jane's mom hang-up the phone before Jane could say anything, she knew her mom was definitely furious, she had no choice but to pack her things and go back home. 

She boarded a taxi to her family house. When she got home she realised that everyone was back and they were all waiting for her. Her dad looked at her but didn't uter a word.  Her brother was different; it seemed like he had a lot to say. 

" Jane Matthew, you are really wonderful,  you are about to get married and we had to find out about it from the news".

Jane's elder brother was fuming. 

" say something Jane your silence is not helping ". At this moment Felix felt like stranguling this little sister of his.

"Jane, have you forgotten that you were betrothed to someone and you were supposed to be engaged to him in two months time, I thought you were responsible but I guess I don't know you well enough ".
