To celebrate my arrival, the Walsh family had specially organized a dinner party in my honor.
Originally, Joanne had planned to humiliate me at the dinner party, but her swollen, unsightly face now prevented her from attending.
Frank, my brother who was supposed to accompany me through the banquet, merely stood beside me, expressionless and motionless, clearly resenting my presence.
He picked up a glass of champagne from the table and swayed it leisurely.
"Lillian, don't ever imagine that I would lend a hand to a bastard like you."
Rather than getting angry at his words, I merely looked at him with a faint smile, observing his face that bore some resemblance to mine.
"Frank, it seems that hanging out with Joanne too often has made you a moron."
"You should use your brain instead of just letting it take up space in your skull. Want to argue with me? You’re not quite a match for me."
His face turned pale from my words.
I picked up a glass of red wine from the table, left Frank with his furrowed, bewildered brow, and wandered through the banquet hall with a generous and bright smile.
Before attending the dinner, I had already privately learned about the attendees. Some of them were business partners of my father, and their children were about my age.
Being raised in the business world from a young age, they knew too well that a person's background was important. As teenagers at the age of eighteen, they thought highly of academic achievements.
Given that, as a genius student, I naturally became someone they wanted to associate with in their circle.
Therefore, when I appeared before them, even though they clearly understood that I was nothing more than an illegitimate daughter the Walsh family could not flaunt, they treated me politely.
The young masters and mistresses of wealthy families did not overtly scrutinize me.
The heiress of the Berry family saw me coming.
Dressed in Chanel, she quickly put down her wine glass and pulled me to her side.
She even spoke to me affectionately,
"Lillian, you are truly incredible. As the top student, you achieved full marks in four subjects! I always knew you were smart, but I never imagined you were the heiress of the Walsh family."
The young master of the Langdon family standing beside her also cast me an incredibly appreciative look.
"Yes, I heard that many people outside are eager for your high school notes, and some have even offered millions just to have an interview with you about the college entrance exam experiences, Lillian. It's clear you have a promising future. Mr. Walsh is indeed fortunate to have such an outstanding daughter like you."
Seeing this, the people around began to echo their sentiments.
I patiently responded to their words.
Soon, they were all vying to become my friends and eagerly asking to friend me on Facebook.
My gaze briefly flicked to where Frank had been standing.
He probably hadn't expected me to be so popular, watching me with a face full of astonishment and doubt.
