Chapter 2

Hearing the words I couldn't breathe. Cassie told me about him getting another girl pregnant but I didn't know she was a human. It also didn't help to see them here in person. It just made it that much more real.

"Alexandra?" Mason seemed more to question and I quickly answered back. "I'm fine."

That was a lie. I wasn't fine. In fact, I was a mess but I was determined to keep that to myself. I wouldn't let him see and I wouldn't give her the satisfaction.

"So do you want me to wait until V gets here so you can spend time with them?"

Mason blinked rapidly as if he was in shock about what I asked. Even Michelle seemed to be taken aback by it. "So she's not even the problem. It's you."

The drama between these two is unreal. How did she think I was the problem when I didn't even know about her?

"No, you're the problem. There is no us. There never will be. We are going to act civil for Harmony."

Oh, I get it now. She wants Mason but he doesn't want her. He also doesn't want me so who is it that he wants.

Completely over the situation, I sit on the blue couch that is tucked away in the back of Mason's office as they continue to argue back and forth. I'm sure this isn't good for the baby.

"Alpha." I look at my phone and see that V is probably here now.

Mason seemed to notice too. "Let him in."

"Luna Cassie is here too." Oh, thank God she came. I was worried about V and Mason alone.

Mason nodded and Blaine went to retrieve them. Mason looked at me a little worried before he turned to Michelle.

"Now is not the time to say anything smart." She went to open her mouth before Mason cut her off. "I'm serious."

The door opened and she quickly froze upon the sight of V. I looked past him to see Cassie glaring at her old best friend.

V looked to Mason before his attention turned to Michelle. "Who's the human?"

Michelle scoffed as if it insulted her to be called what she is.

V ignored her and looked to Mason for an answer.

"The mother to my daughter." V and Cassie both tensed and they frowned even more. "Ruqa."

Cassie nodded and walked over to me. "Alright let's go. Boys need time to talk."

I link my arm with hers as we walk towards the door. Michelle didn't look like she was going to move so Cassie stopped and turned around to face her with an annoyed look on her face.

"Unless you have a penis I don't know about this includes you, so out."

Michelle seemed to storm off as best she could while holding a baby while Cassie nonchalantly pulled me along behind her.

Blaine didn't escort us but Cassie seemed to know her way around. She stopped at a room and opened the door with her arm outstretched. "After you milady." I roll my eyes at her as I walk inside sitting on the chair that sits in the corner.

Michelle came into the room as well but decided to stay next to a wall on the other side of me.

Cassie however jumped on the bed and rolled over until she was facing me.

"So...what's going on?"

She had to be crazy. I wasn't talking about that while she was in here. Plus it's more important to know about V.

"Better question. Why are you here? And why is V talking to Mason?"

Cassie smiles as she maneuvers herself to a sitting position. "Because he loves you. It's how he shows he cares. By threatening people."

I knew V cared about me. He always checked up on me to make sure they were taking care of me in my squadron. That doesn't mean he has to come all the way here.

"Who are you?" Michelle asks Cassie and her eyes go dark in anger. "That isn't any of your business."

I hope the boys hurry up because it will be terrible to be stuck with these two for an extended period of time.

*****

"What are you doing here V?" He stalked across the room before sitting on the edge of my desk crossing his arms. "Alexandra is like a sister to me. It's kinda hard not to see her that way since Cassie sees her that way. So I don't take it well when she calls my mate crying."

I froze. I had no idea that Alexandra was upset. "She didn't say anything to me." I quickly told him. "Why would she?"

I look down ashamed. What idiot can't tell when a person is upset? Even V who is known as a heartless killer seems to know more about it than me.

"That doesn't matter right now though." I was confused. He said that was why he came. So why would that not be important? "That isn't your baby."

Now I was pissed how did he have any right to tell me that Harmony isn't my daughter.

"Yes, she is! She's half-wolf. She has the scent."

V just shrugged like he wasn't impressed. "So you're not the only wolf she slept with. You found yourself a pack whore, my friend."

"What the hell is a pack whore?!" I have no idea why he was letting me yell at him. Most men have died for less.

"A pack whore is a human, male or female, that goes around sleeping with a bunch of werewolves."

"Oh yeah and how do you know so much?" I needed more than his word.

V just laughed to himself before he looked back up at me. "Human females body can't handle the rigors of carrying an alphas baby. They always miscarry. You don't have to believe me. Get a DNA test."

He seemed so sure. But he always seemed sure. It's why he's as dominant and powerful as he is.

I don't want to write off Harmony as my daughter until I know. I would never forgive myself for the lost time.

"How do I get the test? It's not like I can go to a doctor."

"You could go to mine." Of course, he has his own doctor. "I think I remember Cassie talking about him."

V nodded as he pushed himself off my desk and stretched his arms over his head. "I'm sure. If you want it just say the word. I'll set it up."

I definitely was thinking about his offer when I felt the mood change. "Back to why I came. Why the hell did you make Alexandra cry?"

God he's going to kill me. "I honestly have no idea what I did. I told Blaine to get her a room so I could see Harmony and not have to deal with Michelle's shit. Still had to because Alexandra came to tell me about you visiting."

"Next time tell her why you're sending her away. She's putting forth the effort to get to know you, at least give a little effort back."

He didn't wait for a response. Instead, he walked right out of my door where Cassie was waiting with Alexandra. "Mason you have terrible taste in women. Just thought you should know." I scowl at her and V gives me a warning growl.

Alexandra hugs Cassie and squeezes her like she doesn't want her to leave before she finally pulls away. "You can come back home whenever you want."

Alexandra nods. V and Cassie then proceed to leave without saying anything else.

"In," I say to Alexandra making her look at me fearfully.

She walks slowly into my office like a child trying to prologue a punishment from the principal.

I close the door and I take the two steps needed to close the space between us and pull her into my arms.

*****

I stand shocked for a while before I hug him back. This is the first time he's ever held me and it felt just so right in his arms.

"V told me that Harmony isn't mine. Said there is a doctor who could do a test for me." Although he seemed to be upset by the news it made me feel better. I didn't want my mate to have a baby with someone else.

I knew he should get the test just so he knew for sure. "He's talking about Dr. Billings. He's a brilliant doctor. Knows so much about our kind. More than most of us know about ourselves. You could trust him."

Mason pulled away from me and I felt an emptiness fill me.

He nodded once before he turned to look out of a window I didn't even notice was here until now.

"Can you ask him to set it up for me?"

I nodded before realizing he wasn't looking at me. "Of course. You'll probably have to go to our pack to get it done though."

With a sigh, he turned to look at me. "I figured that much. I just have to figure out a way to get Michelle to go."

Hopefully, we fly because trying across the country is such a hassle. It's V's personal favorite mode of transportation that isn't our wolf form.

"I guess I will talk to you later. Have to go tell Michelle about this DNA test." I could tell that he was stressed. More stressed than he should be for his age.

I nod walking towards the door. "If you need to talk."

He smiled weakly towards me before I walked out the door and closed it behind me. I sighed heavily before I got scared by a slight touch on my left shoulder.

"Sorry to startle you, Miss Alexandra." Blaine stood next to me along with another male that I only assumed was a warrior.

"Please just call me Alex." Blaine nodded before he began speaking again. "This is Tristan. He is one of our warriors. Alpha said that you are a warrior in your pack and wish to keep training while you stay with us."

Tristan nodded towards me. I never said anything about training but I was glad that Mason trusted me enough to train with his warriors. It meant even more that he thought about it before I even did.

"Also I will be taking you to your room. If you would like I could also show you around."

"I would love that. Thank you." Blaine smiled at me before he began to walk away down the hall. "This is the longest hallway in the house. This end is both Alpha Mason and my office. You could find both of us there most of the time."

That wasn't shocking since that's where you could find V and Brett most of the time as well. Cassie on the other hand liked to work in motion.

"The other end is where you can find a living room and the kitchen." Focusing on Blaine while he kept talking about what could be found in the living room and kitchen, I notice he has long brown hair that he pulls back into a bun. Of course, he had the patent California tan but that only made his beautiful hazel eyes pop more. Although Mason's were much better. Blaine's had more brown to them while Mason's had more of a yellowish-green. I noticed that Blaine seemed to be older as well.

"Do you have a mate?" I asked Blaine and he seemed taken aback by my question. "No. Do I look mated?" He asked with amusement.

"No. You just seem older than me and Mason so there is always that chance."

With a smirk, he shook his head. "No. No mate for me. I doubt there is one out there for me."

"Oh, your mates out there. Took V a while before he found Cassie. Yours will come too."

The smile Blaine had was sad and I know he had already given up.

I wondered if it would be better not to have found your mate than to find them and not be wanted by them.

"Let me take you to your room," Blaine said pulling me from the depressing turn my mind had made.

I nod and actually pay attention to where it is that I am going since I will have to wonder this way every night if I am to go to sleep in a proper bed.

On the way, we pass a lot of people who live in the house. It is nothing like back home. Although our pack house is bigger, much bigger, it seems empty most of the time. Here it is hustling and bustling like a major city. I loved it.

"And here we are. If you need anything don't hesitate to find one of us. Like I said, my office is down the hall."

I nod as Blaine closes the door behind himself.

The room is simple and homey unlike my room back home. There is a full bed with a white duvet against the right-hand wall. A desk and chair beside the window right across from where I stand and the closet is to the right of the bed. Looking around I spot a book self on the opposite side of the bed with a chair right beside it. However, I realize that I don't have an attached bathroom and already wonder where the bathroom is and how many people I will have to share with.

I walk over to the door and slowly pull it open before peeping my head through the small crack. I turn my head left and see no one. So I turn my head right and also see no one.

I slowly pull the door open wider before I creep out into the hallway pulling the door as quietly as I can behind me.

"What are you doing?" I nearly jump out of my skin as I turn to see Mason looking at me curiously.

I blush as I realize that I must have looked like a creep. "Ugh just wanted to find the bathroom without bothering anyone."

Mason nodded as he took a few steps down the hall and stood in front of a door. "This is your bathroom. Blaine will take care of anything else you need."

I'm sure it looked like I was sulking because I was. I didn't want Blaine to take care of me. I just wanted to be with him.

Not wanting to cause a scene I decide to just nod my head instead.

Mason returns the nod as he heads back towards his office. "Where is your room?"

I mentally smack myself. Did I really ask him that?

Mason turns and I just look down at my feet completely embarrassed by my own question. "My room isn't important. Just make sure you're ready for training tomorrow at 7 am."

Mason left a lot quicker this time than he did previously why I wondered why they started training so late. We had to be there by 5 am on a late day.

These California wolves live a good life.
