Seeing his domineering attitude, Aylin didn't ask further. Joaquin held great power and was authoritarian. The Beckham family likely wouldn't dare speak against him, at least not openly.
After finishing their meal, they left the table together. Aylin returned upstairs while Joaquin seemed to have some business to attend to and left with Gary.
On her first night staying there, Aylin suffered from insomnia.
She lay with her eyes closed for a long time but couldn't fall asleep. Feeling thirsty, she got up to find some water.
She wandered around the third floor before finding a water dispenser but couldn't locate any cups. There were a few bottles of water on the shelf next to the dispenser, so she grabbed one and turned to leave.
As she turned around, a tall figure appeared in her sight. It was Joaquin.
He seemed to have just returned.
Joaquin glanced at her and then at his own bedroom nearby.
Noticing his gaze and knowing what he might be thinking, Aylin quickly said, "I just came to get some water, not to go to your room."
Joaquin looked at her for a moment and then said, "Get some sleep."
He then walked towards his bedroom.
Returning to her room, Aylin suddenly stopped in her tracks. There was water in her room, right on the cabinet, which she hadn't noticed!
So Joaquin's questioning look was reasonable.
Aylin closed her eyes briefly, put the unopened bottle of water on the cabinet, and went to bed.
The next day, at noon.
After class, Aylin walked out of the teaching building and overheard two girls talking quietly nearby.
"Lailah dropped out! Why?"
"I don't know why. She insisted on it herself. I saw her looking for Mr. Kennard yesterday afternoon. She didn't look well. Something must have happened. Otherwise, why would she suddenly drop out?"
Lailah dropping out was exactly what Aylin had expected.
Her doings couldn't be made public. The school had no reason to expel Lailah directly. Letting her drop out voluntarily was the simplest way to handle it.
"Isn't that Aylin? I heard she went to Carmen's birthday party a few days ago. She still seems unwilling to give up on marrying into the Rodway family but ended up being kicked out by them."
The two girls shifted their gossip focus to Aylin.
"My goodness. That's so embarrassing."
"If she had shame, she wouldn't do such things. She's just unwilling to accept it."
"True. After all, marrying into a wealthy family means no more struggling."
Aylin suddenly stopped walking and turned to look at them.
Noticing her gaze, the two girls were startled.
"Did she hear us?"
"Run!"
Aylin was known for her impressive skills in combat, as evidenced by a video on the school forum where a man was beaten so badly that even through the screen, it seemed painful.
This made some people fear her.
The two girls quickly ran away.
Aylin withdrew her gaze and continued walking forward. Just as she reached the dormitory, she saw Lailah coming out with a suitcase. Upon seeing Aylin, Lailah gritted her teeth with hatred written all over her face.
Aylin's expression remained indifferent.
Lailah walked up to her and said coldly, "Aylin, you're ruthless, but don't get too cocky."
At that moment, a sapphire blue sports car pulled up beside them.
Lailah had a strong sense of pride. Even though she was dropping out, she wanted to leave in style. Thus, she called her wealthy boyfriend to pick her up in his sports car from the dormitory.
She wanted Aylin and everyone else to know that even if she dropped out, she had good prospects ahead of her.
At least her family background was better than Aylin's. And she had a chance of marrying into a wealthy family. Unlike Aylin, despite all her efforts, she became a laughingstock.
"My boyfriend is here." Lailah smiled smugly with malice in her eyes. "You won't end well. Just wait and see."
She would never let Aylin off easily. She would make sure Aylin paid for this!
Aylin sneered and ignored her as she continued walking towards the dormitory.
Lailah pulled her suitcase towards her boyfriend's car but suddenly noticed Carmen not far away and hatched a plan in her mind.
A few minutes later, Aylin returned to the dormitory.
Yasmine was standing by the window looking down. Hearing movement behind her, she turned around immediately. "Aylin, did you hear that Lailah dropped out?"
Aylin replied, "Yes, I heard."
"Do you know why?"
"No idea."
Aylin started packing her things.
Yasmine looked puzzled. "Why are you packing?"
Aylin paused and looked at her. "Yasmine, I'm moving out too."
"What? You're moving out too?" Yasmine exclaimed in disbelief. "Rebecca left, Lailah left, and now you're leaving too. That means I'll be alone here!"
Aylin smiled slightly, "You can have the dorm all to yourself now."
"I heard you're going to intern at Polaris Technologies. Did you rent an apartment outside?" Yasmine asked.
"Yes, the school is too far from Polaris Technologies. It's more convenient to live outside," Aylin explained.
"That makes sense," Yasmine chuckled. "Congratulations! Interning at Polaris Technologies means you have a bright future ahead."
Aylin smiled lightly. "Thank you."
"Are you sure about this?" Carmen asked Lailah skeptically.
"Of course! I saw it with my own eyes," Lailah stated firmly. "That night during the party, Aylin left halfway through with a man and went upstairs to a suite. She didn't return all night and had hickeys on her neck the next day."
"Aylin pretends to be so innocent on the surface but is actually quite loose in private. This isn't the first time either. Miss Rodway, no matter what tricks she uses, you must stop her from marrying into your family. Who knows how many scandals will arise if she succeeds?"
Carmen snorted coldly, "Marry into the Rodway family? She can dream!" She paused before asking again, "Do you know who that man was?"
Lailah shook her head. "No idea, but he didn't seem like anyone decent either." If Miss Rodway wants to know more details about him, it shouldn't be hard for you guys."
Carmen didn't respond but started plotting internally. Lailah smirked secretly, knowing Carmen wouldn't disappoint her and would uncover the scandal of Aylin's one-night stand with that wild man, making sure everyone knew what kind of person Aylin truly was!
Aylin had actually planned to move out during her internship, so she had recently bought an apartment in the city center and moved most of her belongings there.
Therefore, there wasn't much left to pack. Just a suitcase and a backpack could hold everything.
With no classes in the afternoon, Aylin left after packing her things.
Gary was waiting outside the school. Seeing Aylin come out, he immediately approached. "Madam, let me help you with that."
"It's just one suitcase. I can handle it myself," Aylin replied.
"Please let me take it," Gary insisted, taking the suitcase and asking, "Is this everything?"
Aylin nodded, "Yes, that's everything."
Gary's eyes lingered for a moment. He suddenly felt a bit sorry for the young girl. When other girls left school, they usually had several suitcases of clothes and cosmetics, but Aylin's situation seemed rather pitiful.
Perhaps because she was struggling to make ends meet, she was reluctant to spend any money she had. It's likely that the only significant asset she had was that check she gave to his boss.
Gary put the luggage in the trunk, and they got in the car and left.
After dropping Aylin off at Rosewood Point, Gary immediately called Joaquin. "Mr. Beckham, I've brought Mrs. Beckham back."
"Okay, I'll be right there," Joaquin responded.
After hanging up, before Gary could speak, Aylin said, "You go ahead and get busy."
"I'll go back to the office then. Madam, if you need anything, you can instruct these two," Gary said, glancing at the two bodyguards beside him, the same two who had apprehended Aylin before.
"Hello, Madam," one man greeted awkwardly.
"Hello, Madam," the other echoed.
Aylin responded calmly, "Okay, I see."
