"I'm about to become a member of Polaris Technologies, and this is what I should do," Aylin said with a smile.
"When do you plan to start working?" Rodrigo asked.
"I want to wait until after the final exams."
Rodrigo nodded. "That sounds good. It won't be long now."
Aylin took out a USB drive from her bag and placed it next to Rodrigo. "And I want to give this to you, Mr. Wegg."
"What is it?"
"This is the painting software I designed when I participated in the competition, and I've recently made some upgrades to it," Aylin said.
Rodrigo knew that several companies had wanted to buy that software back then, offering a hefty price, but Aylin had turned them all down.
"Are you going to give me something that's truly your brainchild, something of great value?" he asked, surprised.
Aylin smiled faintly, "Mr. Wegg, you've given me shares in the company, so I'm considered one of the shareholders. If it performs well, I'll make money. Maybe I'm going to be rich!"
Rodrigo chuckled, "Well, that makes sense. In that case, I definitely need to promote it properly."
They chatted about industry matters while eating. Aylin didn't know much about the tech business, so Rodrigo explained a lot to her and shared his thoughts and plans.
Aylin admired his ambition and was willing to help him achieve it.
Meanwhile, on the roadside.
Xavier sat in his sports car, his sharp gaze fixed on a few thugs standing outside the car. The leader was recounting his past conflict with Aylin.
Xavier asked coldly, "She was drunk. Did you touch her?"
"No, absolutely not," the man waved his hands repeatedly. "With her skills, I couldn't touch her even if I wanted to. She beat me up and ran away. I was in the hospital for several days."
The thugs had already figured out Xavier's identity and didn't dare cause any more trouble.
They didn't mention that Aylin had been drugged, fearing it would implicate them. They only said they were driven by lust.
Xavier said coldly, "Get lost."
The men immediately ran away.
Xavier frowned. Although Aylin drank alcohol, she wouldn't easily get herself drunk. In the three years he had known her, he had never seen her drunk once.
She must have been in an extremely bad mood to drink herself into such a state.
Xavier suddenly regretted his cold war with Aylin. He should have been more considerate of her feelings.
After lunch, Aylin and Rodrigo were ready to leave.
At that moment, Joaquin and Gary approached them.
Aylin paused slightly but said nothing.
"Mr. Beckham," Rodrigo greeted first. "What a coincidence."
"Yes, I'm meeting a friend," Joaquin replied indifferently, then glanced at Aylin.
Aylin looked at him and pretended not to know him well, smiling slightly, "Hello, Mr. Beckham."
"Mm," Joaquin responded briefly before saying, "I'll head over first."
Rodrigo nodded. "Please go ahead."
Joaquin walked past Aylin and headed inside.
Aylin and Rodrigo continued walking outside. After a while, Rodrigo suddenly asked, "Aylin, are you familiar with Mr. Beckham?"
Knowing why he asked this question, Aylin replied, "Not really. I'm just a student. How could I be familiar with Mr. Beckham?"
Rodrigo smiled, "That time at Vintage, after you left, Mr. Beckham left immediately too. I was worried... It seems I was overthinking."
Aylin smiled slightly.
"By the way, where did you meet before?"
Aylin hesitated before saying, "At the design competition. He attended the event but no one knew his identity at the time."
"Mr. Beckham is indeed quite mysterious. I only met him through Mr. Kew."
As they talked, they reached the restaurant entrance.
"Are you going back to school?" Rodrigo asked.
"No," Aylin replied. "I don't have classes this afternoon."
"Where are you going? I'll give you a ride."
"No need. You go ahead. A friend will pick me up later."
"Alright then. Take care."
"Thank you, Mr. Wegg."
After Rodrigo left, Aylin was about to hail a cab back to Rosewood Point when she received a WhatsApp message from Joaquin.
"What time do your classes end this afternoon?"
Aylin replied, "I don't have any classes this afternoon. I'm planning to go home."
"Let Gary take you home."
"No need. I'll just take a cab."
"He's already on his way."
Aylin was speechless.
Moments later, Gary arrived. "Madam, I'll take you home."
Knowing he wouldn't disobey his boss's orders, Aylin said, "Thank you."
Gary replied politely, "You're welcome."
Back at Rosewood Point, Aylin got out of the car.
Daniel greeted her respectfully as he saw Aylin, "Hello, young madam."
"Hello, Daniel." Aylin glanced towards the villa. "Is Nathan here?"
"No," Daniel answered. "It's just me. I came to drop something off."
Aylin looked at the box in his hand. "What's that?"
"It's medicine for the young master."
"Medicine?" Aylin was puzzled. "What kind of medicine?"
"Uh... Supplements for the young master," Daniel explained awkwardly.
With such a robust physique, did Joaquin really need supplements?
Daniel smiled and elaborated, "As the head of the Beckham family and the president of the ZenZest, the young master works day and night tirelessly. Sir Beckham is worried about his health and had a private doctor prepare some supplements for him."
"I see." Aylin nodded understandingly.
After Daniel left the medicine behind, he departed.
Having spent several days upgrading the software tirelessly, Aylin decided to take a break today. She didn't touch her computer and instead leaned back on the sofa, reading a book.
Before long, Joaquin returned home and immediately instructed the servant to prepare some tea.
Aylin looked up at him, surprised by how quickly he had come back.
Joaquin walked over, his gaze landing on her as he said leisurely, "Well, you're not hiding in your room today."
Since moving to Rosewood Point, Aylin had rarely spent time outside her room. Most of the time, she was alone, much like a little kitten just brought home by its owner, often preferring to hide away from view.
"I was busy upgrading the software the past few days," Aylin explained.
Joaquin sat down beside her. "You haven't even started your job yet, and you're already this busy?"
"It's my own software." As she spoke, Aylin glanced down at the book in her hands, then noticed the box of medicine on the table. "By the way, this is the tonic Daniel brought over."
She didn't believe Joaquin would need any tonic.
As Joaquin's gaze fell on the box of medicine, his expression darkened slightly. A coldness flickered in the depths of his eyes, reminiscent of a chilly pond, but he quickly regained his composure.
A moment later, the servant brought in the tea.
Joaquin looked at Aylin again. "Tomorrow is Sir Kew's 70th birthday. You're coming with me."
Aylin raised her eyes, her brows knitting together slightly. "I'm going with you?"
"We can leave early so that we won't run into too many people. If you avoid showing up in front of anyone, it will seem like my marriage is in name only."
"The Beckham family and the Kew family are not just acquaintances. Do you think it's okay if you don't show up?"
Joaquin took a sip of his tea, speaking slowly, "After all, we're newlyweds. They should understand."
Aylin remained silent, unsure how to respond.
Joaquin continued to watch her, adding, "Mr. Hector will also be there. Don't you admire him? Don't you want to meet him?"
