Chapter 4: This Night Has Opened My Eyes

Flynn hadn't dared to talk to Neil since Neil took over driving her car. Miraculously, Flynn's car started again when Neil started it. 

Meanwhile, Neil left his car on the side of the road and chose to drive Flynn home. 

"Is there something you want to tell me?" Neil glanced at Flynn who was still looking down. "Flynn?"

"Ah, yes? I'm sorry I didn't hear what you said. Could you repeat your question?"

"Do you have something to say?"

Flynn bit her lip because she was afraid to ask Neil. Flynn was afraid that Neil would change his mind and leave her alone on this lonely road.

"Nothing," Flynn answered in the end. "There's nothing I want to say to you."

"Then I'll say something." Neil lowered the speed of his car. He looked back into Flynn's eyes. Neil had to admit that those eyes were very beautiful, bright blue like a clear, cloudless sky.

"What's your last name?"

"Last name?" Flynn again repeated Neil's question. It was because she was very nervous at the moment. How could she not be? Flynn was in the same car with someone suspected of being a werewolf even though it was not proven to be true.

"As is my name, Neil Walter. What is your full name?"

"I'm .... I'm Flynn .... But why suddenly ask for my last name?"

"Why not just answer it?"

"I didn't want to tell you," Flynn replied firmly. "You have nothing to fear from telling me your full name. I will not use your full name for anything."

"You don't understand."

Flynn looked at Neil in disbelief. "Understand what? I've been trying to understand your question, but it's too strange. Just call me Flynn. We might not see each other again anyway, or if we do, I'll just tell you. How's that?"

Neil took a deep breath. "Whatever you want." 

There was a reason why Neil asked about Flynn's full name, it was because he sensed a different smell from Flynn's body. 

Neil smelled something unique from Flynn's body. 

"Can you just focus on the front? You're carrying someone else in this car, so please be careful."

Neil actually increased the speed of the car.

After worrying the whole way, Flynn was finally able to thankfully reach her home safely. She got out of the car staggeringly and ended up vomiting from enduring the fear of the journey.

Hearing the sound of Flynn coughing, two of Flynn's cousins came out of Flynn's house. 

"Flynn!" shouted Curtis, Flynn's female cousin. Curtis was about to run over to Flynn, but then she smelled something that made her stop approaching Flynn.

"Don't come here, it stinks." Flynn thought Curtis stopped running towards her because she had just thrown up. But that wasn't what Curtis was avoiding.

Curtis was avoiding Neil. She smelled the wolf odor from Neil's body.

As for Peter, he approached Neil because he wanted to bring Flynn into the house. Peter could sense the danger around Flynn.

"Peter, my body is currently smelly because I've been vomiting. You'd better stay away for a bit." Flynn tried to keep Peter away from her.

But instead of moving away, Peter pulled Flynn closer and hugged her shoulders. "You should go into the house."

"I can't. I have to introduce you to Neil, he was the one who helped me earlier." Flynn walked towards Neil and stopped in front of Neil who was currently staring at Peter with a very sharp gaze.

"Neil, thank you for bringing me home safely. Let me introduce my two cousins, Peter and Curtis." Flynn looked at her two cousins who were still standing in place, not moving an inch. "Hey, come on over here. At least greet him since he saved me from the wolf that was about to attack me."

Peter quickly pulled Flynn up and forcibly carried her to the porch to be beside Curtis.

Peter also smelled what Curtis smelled. That's why he didn't want Flynn near Neil.

"Where did you meet him?" Peter asked Flynn.

"We accidentally met at the library. I went home first, but my car broke down on the way. Then suddenly a wolf was about to attack me while I was looking for a signal to contact you guys. And I was helped by Neil. So you should be nice to him. At least give him a friendly face, not like an angry person like that." Flynn tugged the corner of Peter's lips with her forefinger. He did the same to Curtis.

"Get out of here right now before something you don't want happens." 

Flynn reflexively hit Peter. "Why are you saying that! Instead of greeting him, you're kicking him out?"

Curtis gently pulled Flynn's hand away. "Peter's right. He needs to get out of here as soon as possible."

"Hey! What happened to you two?" Flynn pulled her hand away from Curtis. She couldn't get over the fact that her two cousins were usually friendly but were now being rude to Neil.

"Ah, no wonder I can feel it," Neil said. What Neil meant was, he could sense a different scent on Flynn's body because apparently Peter and Curtis were just like him. But still, Flynn had a different scent.

"Guys, I don't know what's really going on. So can we just get this over with? It's fine if you don't want to get to know each other."

But as if not listening to Flynn, Peter ran towards Neil quickly and pushed Neil until Neil took a few steps back.

Neil smiled wryly which made him look even more intimidating this time. "You started it." Neil hit Peter until Peter bounced back and fell down. 

Flynn covered her mouth with both hands, disbelieving that they would fight for real. So he ran up to Peter. "Please stop!" Flynn stood in the middle of Neil and Peter.

And suddenly out of nowhere came two people, one female and one male who stood next to Neil. 

"Who are you?" asked Flynn in confusion. "You want to hit Peter too?"

Neil gestured to Jesse and Edna, the two new arrivals. "I'll spare you because this isn't my territory. But if you make a scene on my territory, don't blame me if I finish you off."

Flynn stepped hurriedly in front of Neil. "Don't fight with Peter or with anyone in front of me or behind me. You can talk nicely before using violence."

Edna, who was to Neil's right, almost slapped Flynn. But before she could do so, the siren of a police car sounded.

Everyone was now focused on that sound. 

A policeman got out and walked towards them. "Who is the family of Shawn Leander & Maria Leander?"

Flynn immediately raised her hand, her feeling was bad. "I'm their daughter. Did something happen?"

"Shawn Leander and Maria Leander were found dead and we need their families to confirm their identities at the hospital. Please come with us."

Flynn felt like the sky was falling on her head. Her legs suddenly gave out and she fell to the ground. Her body was trembling and her tears were ready to fall at any moment.

"Can you say it again?" asked Flynn weakly.
