Lester sneered, "Do you really think this company belongs to your family? It wasn't easy for you to get this job, so you'd better think twice."
He waved a colleague over, arrogantly ordering them to buy coffee, flaunting his power in the company. His words implied that I should stop messing around and repay the money quickly.
If I were just an ordinary employee, I might have been scared by him.
I couldn't be bothered to argue with him and turned to find the manager. The manager greeted me respectfully and assured me that Lester was well taken care of but kindly reminded me that Lester Baker's abilities only qualified him to be a team leader at best.
He then listed all the mistakes Lester had made in the company, including impersonation and stealing credit. The list was endless.
I smiled, realizing how others saw me as someone blinded by love.
I clarified that I had broken up with Lester and expressed my hope that the manager would handle things impartially.
The manager nodded knowingly and called Lester into the office.
In a stern voice, he said to Lester, "The company cannot tolerate someone with poor conduct."
Lester looked at the manager in panic and pleaded, "It's all a misunderstanding! This woman is framing me..."
Seeing my displeased expression, the manager slammed the table and ordered him to pack up and leave immediately.
Lester's face turned pale, and he urged me to explain to the manager.
I sneered, "What's there to explain? Isn't what you did true?"
"Claire, stop it. We've been together for so long. Why do you have to push me to the edge? Are you so heartless?"
I was speechless at his shamelessness and turned to discuss his dismissal with the manager.
Lester quickly changed his attitude, promising to repay the money and begging not to be fired.
I nodded at him and said that as long as he repaid the money, I wouldn't make things difficult for him.
To keep his job, he signed a repayment agreement without hesitation.
The next day, he sold his house and repaid the money.
Watching the money come in, I smiled. Although I said I wouldn't make things difficult for him, who could he blame for his incompetence?
Soon after, the manager informed me that Lester had been successfully dismissed and had paid a large sum of money for past work mistakes.
Not long after, Lester called. I listened for a while as he helplessly ranted before slowly speaking, "Who can you blame for your incompetence both at work and as a man?"
His voice on the other end broke completely. "Don't be so cocky! You're just a mistress being used by others..."
I couldn't be bothered to argue with him. I hung up the phone, blocked him, and deleted his number.
