Lester came back and was immediately furious when he saw the scene, demanding to know what I meant by it.
"This rental is mine. Get out!" I kicked his suitcase into the room.
Lester grabbed my wrist and shoved me backward, looking down at me. "This house is mine! What right do you have to tell me to leave?"
My body slammed into the sofa, the pain bringing tears to my eyes.
I rented this place for him to make his commute easier. It turned out that all the rent I paid went straight into his pocket!
I clenched my fists and grabbed a vase from the table, throwing it at him.
With a crash, Lester clutched his bleeding forehead and yelled angrily, "Have you had enough?"
Just then, his phone rang. Lester's body shook when he saw the caller ID. I saw a hint of panic in his eyes as he turned towards the balcony.
I snatched his phone and put it on speaker.
"Lester, I’ll see you at Yokohama Grand Hotel at nine tonight."
Lester reached out to grab the phone.
Furious, I smashed the phone on the ground and slapped him hard across the face. "Get out!"
I regretted it immediately. My hand hurt and I felt disgusted!
Lester covered his face where a red handprint was forming. He raised his hand as if to strike but stopped himself, speaking through gritted teeth,
"Claire! We're adults! Everything I'm doing is for our future! Without her, I could never get into Hoyle Company! And how can I provide you with a comfortable life?"
I looked at his earnest expression and laughed in anger.
This was absurd!
I regretted getting him into the company with my influence. Should I ask my dad to fire him?
Taking a deep breath, I stared straight at him. "You jerk! We're done!"
Lester grabbed my hand, frowning in displeasure. "Can you stop being unreasonable? My heart is already with you. What more do you want?"
"You always talk about love, but without money, there’s no love!"
"I know I've wronged you, but if you love me, you should respect me! Not act like a shrew."
I felt like my head was going to explode from anger. He was truly shameless.
"I'm not interested in a jerk like you. Also, return all the rent I've paid! Or I'll accuse you of extortion!"
Lester reluctantly transferred the money back to me, sneering, "Don't be ungrateful! When I'm successful in the future, don't come begging to be my mistress."
I was livid.
As the heiress of Hoyle Company, he wasn't even fit to carry my shoes, let alone have me groveling before him!
His current arrogance stemmed from thinking he had hooked up with a wealthy woman. I'd like to see how arrogant he'd be once she dumped him!
After all, our social circles were small. Just one word from me and no one would dare to turn against Hoyle Company for an insignificant man.
With that thought in mind, I called a private detective as soon as I stepped out the door.
