Chapter 4

To my surprise, Lester was quite shrewd. The next day, he sent me a message detailing all the expenses he incurred while pursuing me, including transportation and dining costs, as well as every penny spent during our time together.

He even included compensation for the mental and time losses over the past few months, down to the market price for the dumplings he personally made for me.

I was dumbfounded. He had the audacity to include his own meals and accommodation costs under the pretext of expenses made to make me happy. Why didn't he consider the $25,000 computer I bought him for his birthday or the times I ran around taking him through VIP medical channels when he was sick?

I immediately blocked him. I had my stepmother to deal with, and I didn't have time for him.

As expected, my stepmother soon turned to my father, asking to join the company and portraying herself as a self-reliant and strong individual.

Though I wasn't sure what her plans were, for the sake of my family's assets, I also joined the company shortly after.

Unexpectedly, during an inspection at a branch office, I ran into Lester.

Lester looked surprised for a moment before smirking smugly. "Regretting it now? Considering you followed me to the company, if you sign a body donation agreement and repay what you owe me, I might give you a chance."

I waved a photo in front of him. "Don’t you care about your reputation anymore? And don't mess with me! Otherwise, I won't hesitate to expose your kept-man status."

Lester burst out laughing, crossing his arms disdainfully. "Kept-man? She and I are relatives!"

"But since you don't appreciate kindness, don't blame me. If you don't want trouble, you'd better repay the money!"

How dare he threaten me?

A mere project team leader threatening me?

Since he dared to say that, I wanted to see who was going to be screwed.

As Lester continued his endless chatter, I couldn't take it anymore. I pulled out an electronic receipt from my phone and shoved it in his face. "Fine. After deducting the $5,000 I owe you, you still owe me $100,000. Cash or card?"

Lester jumped up immediately, pointing at me and cursing, "This is extortion!?"

"Open your eyes wide and see clearly. The shoes on your feet cost $5,000, and the watch on your wrist is $15,000..."

Before I could finish, he interrupted me with a flushed face. "You insisted on giving those things! Voluntary gifts can't be counted as debts! I'll return them!"

I nodded. "Alright then, please also return the position you have in the company."
