Chapter 3

I was shocked to discover that the one financially supporting Lester was none other than my supposedly kind and gentle stepmother, as described by my father.

If it weren't for the photos, I might have been fooled by her too. After all, she had willingly donated a kidney to my father and signed a prenuptial agreement waiving any claim to his assets after their divorce. She had always treated me well.

In an instant, the thought of the body donation agreement mentioned by Lester's mother sent a chill through my veins. Although the kidney donation was a test by my father to see if my stepmother was lying, she might have agreed on the surface while secretly paying someone else to do it. Coincidentally, that person turned out to be Lester, who then set his sights on me.

It was absurd.

I immediately sent the photos of my stepmother with Lester to my father, who was away on a business trip. My father remained silent for a long time before suddenly asking if I disliked my stepmother so much that I would frame her.

I was dumbfounded. In just a few months, my father seemed to completely side with his second wife. Clearly, my stepmother had some serious skills!

When I emphasized that it was Lester she was involved with, my father fell silent again before telling me he had just asked her. She claimed Lester was merely one of her relatives and told me not to overthink it.

A friend?

"Don't you think she's spending too much on a relative? Her lavish spending really makes her look like one of those materialistic women!" I retorted coldly, struggling to contain my anger.

My father hesitated for a moment. Perhaps he went to check the bills before finally agreeing with me and cutting off her supplementary card.

According to the detective, unaware of the situation, my stepmother had booked top-tier services in a suite and ordered a luxurious meal but couldn't pay for it. She almost got kicked out until Lester maxed out his credit card to cover the bill in an attempt to please his wealthy lover.

When I heard this news, I almost burst out laughing. Lester surely knew how to spend small amounts of money to gain bigger returns! If my stepmother were truly wealthy, she might have been moved and repaid him promptly.

Unfortunately for him, she wasn't rich at all. The debt alone would be enough to ruin him!
