Chapter 2

Sabine's claws sliced through the air, aiming for Aurora's neck. But just as they were about to strike, Marcus flashed in front of her, his speed supernatural.

He grabbed Aurora's arm and yanked her out of the way, causing Sabine to miss her target.Sabine's eyes widened in anger, her face twisted in a snarl.

“What was that speed just now? I didn't notice his presence until the brat was out of the way…. Is this the power of an alpha?” Sabine said in mind.Marcus's expression was stern, his voice firm.

“Enough, Sabine. You will not harm Aurora again. From now on, She is under my protection.”“Why do you keep protecting this thing?” Sabine asked angrily.“She isn't a thing Sabine, she has a name.” Marcus replied sternly.“Cut the crap Marcus, deep down she means nothing to you, so let me just rip her into sheds.” Sabine said.“Enough of this, from now on, I don't want anyone to hurt Aurora.”

Marcus said.Sabine's face turned red with rage, but she knew better than to cross Marcus. She stormed off, her guards following closely behind. The next night was the full moon, and the pack was buzzing with excitement. The mating ceremony was a sacred tradition, where every werewolf would find their mate. The pack gathered in the central courtyard, their eyes shining with anticipation.

Aurora also had high expectations for herself too. She hoped to find her mate so that she could finally be taken out of her misery with Sabine. However, Sabine knew too well that if she'd let Aurora attend the ceremony, she would find a mate and leave.Sabine's anger boiled over as she locked Aurora in her room, the key turning in the lock with a satisfying click. “You'll pay for your disobedience,” she hissed, her voice venomous. “Marcus is too busy with work, so he can't save you now.”But Aurora was determined to escape.

She knew the mating ceremony was tonight, and she couldn't miss it. She searched her room frantically, her eyes scanning for a way out. And then, she spotted the window. With a surge of adrenaline, Aurora climbed out onto the ledge, her heart racing with fear. She dropped to the ground, her legs trembling as she made her way to the central courtyard.

The pack was already gathered, their eyes shining with excitement. Aurora slipped in unnoticed, her heart pounding in her chest. As the moon rose high in the sky, the pack began to shift. Their bodies transformed into wolves, their inner wolves screaming “Mate!” as they found their partners.Aurora watched in awe, her eyes fixed on Marcus. He was the most powerful wolf in the pack, and the leader too.

She couldn't help but feel blessed by being his fiancée. Sabine knew that she's becoming Marcus mate was inevitable because they were lovers. The decisive moment came, when the alpha was to select his mate. Sabine smiled happily when Marcus moved towards her, his red eyes gazing into her blue eyes. And then, it happened. Marcus's eyes shifted to Aurora, and locked onto hers, and his inner wolf screamed “Mate!” The pack gasped in shock, their eyes fixed on Aurora with a mixture of surprise and curiosity.Sabine's face turned white with rage, her eyes blazing with fury. She had expected to be Marcus's mate, not the slave girl.

“How could you, Marcus?” she spat, her voice venomous. “I was your fiancée, and you choose her over me?”Marcus stepped forward, his voice firm. “Sabine, I'm sorry. But the moon goddess is wise in all her ways, and she has promoted my inner wolf to speak. Aurora is my mate.”Sabine's face twisted in anger, her eyes flashing with hatred. “This isn't over, Aurora,” she hissed. “You haven't seen the last of me.”And with that, she stormed off, her guards following closely behind.

The pack began to murmur, their eyes fixed on Aurora with a mixture of surprise and curiosity. As the ceremony ended, Aurora felt a sense of unease.

She knew Sabine would not take this lying down, and she was right to be afraid. As she turned to leave, she felt a hand on her arm.

It was Marcus, his eyes fixed on hers with a deep longing.“Aurora, come with me,” he said, his voice low and husky. “We need to talk.”Aurora nodded, her heart racing with excitement. She knew that this was a big moment, but she was also scared of what Sabine might do.As they walked to Marcus's quarters, Aurora couldn't help but feel nervous. She had never been alone with Marcus before, and she didn't know what to expect.Marcus noticed her unease and smiled reassuringly. “Don't worry, Aurora. I just want to get to know you better.”Aurora nodded, but she couldn't shake off the feeling of fear. She knew Sabine was angry, and she didn't know what she might do.As they entered Marcus's quarters, Aurora looked around nervously.

The room was big and luxurious, with a large bed in the center.Marcus noticed her gaze and chuckled. “Don't worry, Aurora. I'm not going to hurt you. I just want to talk.”Aurora nodded, and they sat down on the couch. Marcus asked her questions about her life, her family, and her interests. Aurora answered hesitantly at first, but as the conversation went on, she began to open up.

As they talked, Aurora realized that Marcus was different from what she had expected. He was kind, caring, and genuinely interested in getting to know her.But despite the nice conversation, Aurora couldn't shake off the feeling of fear. She knew Sabine was angry, and she didn't know what she might do.After a while, Marcus noticed her unease and nodded. “I know you're scared, Aurora.

But don't worry, I'll protect you. Sabine won't hurt you again.”Aurora nodded, but she wasn't so sure. She knew Sabine was angry, and she didn't know what she might do.As the conversation ended, Aurora got up to leave. Marcus walked her to the door and smiled. “I'll see you soon, Aurora. And don't worry, I'll keep you safe.”Aurora nodded and left, feeling a mix of emotions. She was happy to have talked to Marcus, but she was also scared of what Sabine might do.Over the coming days, Sabine's hatred for Aurora grew.

She would see her in the courtyard, and her eyes would flash with anger. She would mutter curses under her breath, and Aurora knew she was in danger. One day, Sabine cornered Aurora in the hallway. Her eyes were blazing with fury, and her claws were extended.

“You think you can take Marcus away from me?” she spat, her voice venomous.

“You're just a slave, a weak and pathetic creature. You'll never be his mate.”Aurora tried to run, but Sabine was too fast.

She pinned Aurora against the wall, her claws digging into her skin. The whole scene felt like a déjà vu to her, and it was obvious she wasn't a match for Sabine, all she had to do now was..... Die.
