Chapter 1
Aurora knelt on the cold, damp stone floor, her hands clasped together in a tight ball as she trembled with fear. Sabine, the Alpha's fiancée, stood over her, her piercing brown eyes blazing with anger.
“You dare to greet me without bowing?” Sabine's voice was like ice, her words dripping with venom.
“You're nothing but a slave, a weak and pathetic creature. You should be grateful I even acknowledge your presence. Shouldn't you be ashamed of yourself? You are the weakest of the weak, and obviously, even calling you an Omega would be an insult to other Omegas.”Aurora tried to speak, to apologize, but her voice caught in her throat.
She knew better than to defy Sabine, but she couldn't bring herself to bow down to the woman who had made her life a living hell.Wham!Sabine's hand flashed out, striking Aurora across the face with a resounding slap. Aurora's head snapped back, her eyes watering from the pain.Just as Sabine raised her hand to strike again, a deep voice boomed from the doorway.“Sabine, enough!”Marcus, the Alpha, stood tall and imposing, his piercing red eyes fixed on Sabine with a warning glint.Sabine's face twisted in anger, but she knew better than to defy Marcus.
She turned to him, her voice sweet and innocent.“Marcus, darling, I was just teaching Aurora some manners. She needs to learn her place.”Marcus's expression was skeptical, but he nodded curtly.“Very well, Sabine. But remember, we don't condone physical violence in this pack. Aurora, get up and go about your duties.”Aurora scrambled to her feet, her heart racing with fear. She knew she had to be careful, or Sabine would find a way to make her pay.As she scurried away, she heard Sabine's venomous whisper.“This isn't over, Aurora. You haven't seen the last of me.
”Aurora didn't dare look back, fearing what she might see. She knew Sabine would come for her, and she had to be ready. She spent the rest of the day in a daze, her mind racing with thoughts of Sabine's wrath. Furthermore, she knew she had to be careful, or she would face the consequences.“Aurora, I already told you to stop worrying, as long as Marcus is around, you are safe.” Sophia said.“It isn't as easy as you say, Sophia. Marcus only shows up when the damage has already been done, and you know as well that Sabine is his mate, so he wouldn't choose her over me.”
Aurora said.“You have little ambitioned my dear… If I were you, I would have gotten close to Marcus, and do everything in my power to make him love me.” Sophia said.“Not everyone is as power hungry as you… Besides, if I do that, I'd just end up dying faster.” Aurora said.“So… What do you suggest we do.” Sophia said.“Simple…. Now our place as slaves.” Aurora said.As the sun began to set, casting long shadows across the pack's den, Aurora felt a sense of unease settle in the depth of her stomach.
She knew Sabine would not let this go, and she had to be prepared for the worst. She tried to focus on her duties, but her mind kept wandering back to Sabine's angry face. Furthermore, she knew she had to be on her guard, or she would face another beating. As the darkness gathered, Aurora's anxiety grew. She knew Sabine would not rest until she had taught her a lesson. She tried to sleep, but her mind was racing with thoughts of Sabine's revenge.
Furthermore, she knew she had to be ready, or she would face the consequences. As the night wore on, Aurora waited with bated breath, her senses on high alert, knowing that Sabine would strike again, and soon. She lay in her small, cramped quarters, her heart racing with fear. She knew Sabine was waiting for the perfect moment to strike, and Aurora had to be ready.Furthermore, she tried to calm herself down, telling herself that Marcus would protect her, but she knew Sabine was a force to be reckoned with. Furthermore, she had to be prepared to face her again, and soon.As the hours ticked by, Aurora's anxiety grew.
She knew Sabine was planning something, and she had to be ready. She thought back to the day she had been brought to the pack, a scared and helpless teenager. Sabine had taken one look at her and sneered, and from that day on, Aurora had been her target. She thought about the countless times Sabine had humiliated her, beaten her, and belittled her. She thought about the way Sabine looked at her, with a mixture of disgust and contempt. And she knew that she couldn't take it anymore. She had to find a way to stand up to Sabine, to fight back against her tormentor.
But as she lay there, listening to the sound of Sabine's footsteps outside her door, she knew she wasn't ready. She was still scared, still weak, and still at Sabine's mercy. And then, just as she was starting to drift off to sleep, she heard the sound of footsteps outside her door. Heavy, deliberate footsteps, coming closer and closer.
Aurora's heart raced as she waited, her senses on high alert, knowing that Sabine had come for her. She could feel Sabine's anger, her hatred, and her desire for revenge. The door burst open, and Sabine stood in the doorway, her eyes blazing with fury. She nodded to the guards behind her, and they stepped forward, grabbing Aurora's arms and dragging her out of her room.
Aurora struggled and kicked, but they were too strong. They pulled her down the hallway, Sabine leading the way, until they reached the central courtyard.Sabine's friends where there, their eyes fixed on Aurora with a mixture of curiosity and hostility. Sabine stood in front of her, her voice ringing out across the courtyard.“Aurora, you have disobeyed me for the last time. You have shown no respect, no loyalty, and no gratitude. You are a slave, and you will be treated as such.”
Aurora tried to speak, but her voice was shaking too much. She knew she was in grave danger.Sabine's hand flashed out, and she grasped Aurora's chin, her nails digging into Aurora's skin. Aurora winced in pain, but Sabine just pulled her closer.
“You are nothing but a slave, Aurora. And you will be punished like one.”
Sabine's other hand rose, her claws extended, and Aurora felt a wave of terror wash over her.
She knew she was about to die.
“Is this the end?” Aurora asked herself as everything seemed to slow down.
“So this is how I die? After everything… After trying my best to please Sabine, this is how she repays me… With death? At least, I would get to be with my parents….”
Slice!
