6. Did We Still Have Another Chance?

Has Dian told you yet that she finds her boss annoying?

After uttering those stern words-which actually seemed forced, Arkan just walked away. I don't know what motivated him to do that. Or maybe Arkan really preferred Dian to be tormented by work rather than enjoying a day off?

In the end, Dian took Arya home. Arkan might reappear unannounced in front of the two of them. That was an annoying thing for Dian.

"I'm sorry, earlier ... my friend is often like that," Dian said as a conversation starter between herself and Arya.

They were both already in Arya's car. On their way to Dian's apartment. Dian actually felt bad after Arkan's arrival earlier. Although not shown, there was confusion and suspicion on Arya's face.

Dian warned Arya if she suspected Arkan of being her boyfriend. Dian's plan would be ruined and she didn't want to let Arya go as prey.

Wait, the term prey sounds harsh.

Let's call Arya Dian's prisoner. Even more rude, right?

"Is your friend... really a friend?" asked Arya, her voice seemingly hesitant. The grip of her hands on the steering wheel of the car tightened.

Right, just as Dian had expected. Arya must have felt some suspicion.

Arya's index finger tapped the steering wheel. One corner of Dian's lips faintly wore a lopsided smile.

'What a jerk, already having a wife but being attracted to another woman. Is that what you did with my sister?' Dian's mind said. If she couldn't help it...

Dian wanted to curse Arya out loud. However, there was no time for that now.

"Yes, it's just a friend. Why, Mas?" Dian asked, deliberately provoking Arya subtly. The look on her face was made up with curiosity.

Arya immediately nodded her head while muttering quite long. But soon a smile appeared. It looked like a satisfied smile, and Dian had guessed that Arya would react like that.

"I thought it was your lover, or your future husband," Arya replied, including a small laugh at the end of her sentence.

"I have no intention of looking for another one. My work is quite busy and... well, it's quite time-consuming," Dian explained so casually. As if not to get too lost in the awkwardness.

Because it felt like Dian had just been caught off guard by Arya.

"You've become a career woman now. I'm really amazed to see your change," said Arya who occasionally turned her head to Dian.

Seeing Arya's smile that seemed faked sweet, Dian felt like vomiting. But Dian deliberately laughed with her lips sealed tightly.

Of course, you bastard, because I'm not my twin sister who you can treat as you please!

Dian, for who knows how many times, cursed Arya silently. Dian was right in thinking that Dina - her twin sister - had never told her about her household. Although the two of them lived separately, but before marriage, Dina always shared her life.

Unfortunately, their intimacy after Dian moved to work abroad only lasted one year.

Since then, Dian has rarely - almost never - heard from Dina. Only once or twice. Dian heard from her family that Dina looked lethargic and sad when she was allowed to go to her adoptive parents' house.

And one odd thing about Dina was that she only visited her foster guardian's house twice a year. Dian never knew that Dina could be separated from her parents for so long.

Dina was the closest to their biological mom and dad. As soon as Dina was heard to rarely come home, Dian felt odd.

"It's nothing extraordinary, Mas. I still need to pay for my daily expenses. Don't you just give me a little money?" Dian quipped, deliberately flashing a knot of sarcasm.

There was surprise on Arya's face. Her eyes rounded even though they were not full. But Arya's surprise only lasted for a moment. Before finally Arya laughed awkwardly while sighing softly.

"Why did you bring that up?" Arya was immediately awkward herself. Her eyeballs moved uncomfortably, reluctant to look into Dian's eyes.

Dian did not look away from Arya. She raised both eyebrows and tilted her head slightly. Wanting to know more intensely how Arya reacted now.

"At that time ...." Arya's voice sounded awkward, suddenly unable to speak. Then in the end chuckled feeling bad. "Ah, I don't know why I was like that. Maybe it's because my salary isn't too much and I need it for my needs. You know that, right?"

For a moment Dian tried to digest Arya's words, thinking seriously. Honestly, Dian did not expect that her idle words earlier, just to provoke her to find out, turned out to be true.

It wasn't long before Dian let out a lopsided laugh. It was completely unintentional because she was very sick of hearing Arya's pleading tone.

While Arya turned her head with a tinge of astonishment. It wasn't just once that he was taken aback by the way his ex-wife behaved. For Arya, Dina-incarnated by Dian-had never laughed mockingly like now.

"Ah, it's true that you don't want to give at least the right portion of the salary," Dian replied while nodding her head. "But, Mas, if you can't give your salary, there's no need to get married."

"What do you mean?" asked Arya who was already confused, dumbfounded.

"Well, I mean... I just realized that you are still childish. You still need your salary money for yourself without thinking about-"

"Dina, why are you protesting about this now?" Arya cut Dian off. "Weren't you the one who was willing at the time? You even said that you had organized the needs of the house well."

Just as Dian was about to open her mouth to speak up, the phone rang. It not only jolted Dian, but also Arya. They both turned to the source of the sound.

After looking down, Dian immediately took out a cell phone object. The ringing sounded even louder when the phone was taken out.

Dian read the name of the caller.

'Arkan's boss'.

"What's wrong, who's calling?" Arya's voice woke Dian up.

"Huh?" Dian raised her face, looking at Arya. "My friend called."

Without waiting for Arya's answer, Dian picked up Arkan's phone call. She put it to her ear.

"Yes, hello? What's wrong?"

"What's up? I just found out that there are secretaries who talk sassy with their bosses like they're with friends."

"Ah, that's ...." Dian gave Arya a glance. "I'm with a male friend who I haven't seen in a while. He's an old friend."

Dian deliberately mentioned the word old friend because she hoped Arkan still remembered about their conversation earlier. In her heart, there was a sense of anxious expectation. What if Arkan forgot?

Dian waited for a split second while glancing at Arya. Unfortunately, Arya looked curious. As if waiting.

"Ah, alright. But I'll wait for you at the cafe, I have something to discuss. You can get off in front of the bus stop."

Dian almost lit up knowing that Arkan had caught her meaning.

"Is that so? There's an important event, huh? Okay, I'll come later."

The phone conversation was over. Dian spoke directly to Arya.

"Hey, Mas, I have an event with my junior high school friends at the cafe. Some kind of reunion. So, just drop me off at... that bus stop."

Arya looked confused at the direction Dian was pointing. Moreover, what was pointed out turned out to be a bus stop in front of the cafe.

"Is there another event? Is it the guy from earlier?" asked Arya.

"Uh-hum," Dian muttered in agreement while nodding briefly.

There was a heavy sigh from Arya. Dian caught a hint of annoyance on Arya's face, even though Arya eventually complied with her request.

"I thought I still had a chance, it looks like you've got someone after you," Arya said suddenly, making Dian frown in confusion.

Was this a sign that Arya was already enamored with her? Easy peasy!
