4. Threat of Boss Arrival

A maroon background room with a number of VVIP tables and chairs greeted Dian's gaze.

Dian was no longer surprised to come to a place like this. Because when she lived abroad, almost all of her friends had a fairly luxurious lifestyle. So, her footsteps walked so gracefully accompanying Arya's footsteps.

"Welcome, Mr. Arya, we have received your reserved seating," One of the waiters came up to Arya, bowing briefly.

Arya gave a sweet smile to the waitress. Beside her, Dian returned the brief bow.

The waitress in front of Arya raised both eyebrows with a slightly widened smile. "Are you Mr. Arya's client? We have recorded two seats on the reservation history."

Nodding her head without hesitation, Dian replied, "Yes, I am Mr. Arya's client. Thank you for your prompt service."

There was no more reply, the waitress immediately extended her hand. Giving directions for the two of them to sit. She went first, followed by Arya and Dian.

After arriving, seated themselves, the waitress handed over two menu books. Then nodded briefly as she left Arya and Dian's table.

Arya immediately turned her gaze to Dina-in her eyes, she didn't know that the woman in front of her was actually Dian. She didn't speak for a moment as she looked at Dian's face and appearance, mesmerized. As she remembered five years ago, Dian was not like this.

Honestly, Arya still did not expect to see the drastic change in his ex-wife. Somehow there was a speck of regret in his heart. Why did he throw Dian away in the first place?

And soon Dian caught Arya's intense gaze. Dian raised an eyebrow, briefly looking around to keep an eye out.

Damn. Dian suddenly felt awkward and cautious when Arya was like this. Who knew that among these VVIP guests were Arya's company colleagues?

"Mas, what's wrong?" Dian asked curiously. "Is there something wrong with me?"

Arya laughed softly briefly. "Yes, there is something wrong. Not with you, but with me," he replied and sighed softly. "Why didn't I realize you were so beautiful, Dina?"

Dian felt like laughing at Arya. She was not Dina, but Dian. Arya really couldn't tell the difference between herself and her twin sister.

That meant, it already added to Arya's bad points that the man did not treat Dina well.

How could a husband who loved his wife not know her by heart? At least they have a strong inner bond that whispers if something is wrong.

But even so, Dian was interested in Arya's regretful sentence. It could be seen from the twinkle in her eyes when she looked at Arya.

"I'm beautiful? Am I not beautiful to you, Darling?"

Dian glimpsed Arya's faint frown. Arya was secretly shocked because she heard Dian's question which seemed too blatant. Whereas as Arya remembered, his wife used to not even dare to speak presumptuously.

Why did Dina change so drastically? Where and what has she been doing for the past three years?

That was Arya's thought.

"Mas?" Dian called out, waving one hand in front of Arya's face. "Are you okay? Are you sick?"

Arya gasped slightly, snapped out of her reverie. Then she laughed awkwardly. "Ah, gosh, it's nothing, Dina. I'm fine. Not sick at all. I just don't know what to say because I admire you."

"Do you think I'm ugly when we're together, Mas?" asked Dian, trying to provoke Arya.

Hearing that somehow Arya felt panic. Arya suddenly shook her head. Although in fact Arya wanted to answer the opposite.

"I mean, you weren't good at grooming back then. So you don't look flashy like this. You also said you don't like anything too fancy, you like it simple."

Dian felt like snorting loudly in front of Arya. Her resentment was also directed at Dina. Of course Dina didn't like luxury, that's why Arya probably thought Dina was from an ordinary family.

Moreover, Dina lived with her maid and driver who were a married couple. They were the guardians of Dina's marriage.

If only Arya knew who Dina's family-Dian's family too-was, there was no way Arya would dare.

No wonder Arya underestimated Dina. Dian was often annoyed because Dina was too modest, contrary to her.

"Oh, I don't like to dress up," Dian replied, only pretending to include a small laugh.

Dian knew immediately that Arya wasn't telling the truth. Arya was nervous, and that showed that she was wrong. Of course Dian couldn't be lied to by her.

"Well, the important thing is that now you understand."

"And you regret it?"

Arya was a little hesitant to answer Dian's question. As if he was composing his answer sentence.

"Yes, I regret it. I realize that I was wrong."

Dian did her best to keep the corners of her lips from smiling crookedly. Had Dian not remembered her plan, she would have laughed at Arya.

What a jerk, thought Dian who felt something thumping in her chest. This was emotional turmoil.

Luckily, it wasn't long before the waitress arrived. Interrupting them to ask what they wanted to order. For a few moments Dian and Arya indicated the food they wanted.

"Oh, yes, you..."

Dian's sentence was interrupted when Arya's cell phone screen lit up. Since it was placed in the middle of Arya and Dian, Dian could faintly see the name displayed.

Dian intentionally squinted her eyes. The more she looked, the more she saw that there was a red love emoticon on the screen. Dian glanced over to read it faintly.

'My wife'.

Just as Dian had read the caller's vague description, Arya pulled out the phone. Her movement was so hasty - luckily Dian refrained from looking surprised.

"Ah, sorry-sorry, indeed ... my office colleagues often call unexpectedly," Arya explained, even though Dian had not asked.

Dian raised both eyebrows. "Hm? Oh, that's okay. Do you have any other plans, Mas? Do you have to rush?"

Arya had already put the phone back after turning it off. Dian was a little surprised to see Arya turn off the call. Although her surprise only lasted for a moment.

"No, Dina, not at all," Arya replied quickly. Her voice sounded nervous. "That's why I turned it off. He's always on his own."

Dian's eyes watched Arya's hands rubbing against each other. Like someone who was cold even though the air in this VVIP room was not too cold, for her.

Why did Arya suddenly feel cold like that anyway?

Dian just nodded her head. Just trusting. "Alright. I wonder why you turned off the phone, Mas," she said with a small laugh at the end of her sentence.

Arya bowed her head briefly to exhale very slowly.

"So, where do you work now?" asked Arya, who had folded her hands on the table.

"Arbaha Group Company. Is your work going well, Mas?"

"It's going well, thank goodness. I didn't know you were already working for a big company."

"You know that company, Mas?"

With a big smile Arya nodded her head once again. "Of course, I know. I-"

"Excuse me, Miss? Do you know... wait."

Arya and Dian's attention was interrupted by a voice from the side. Dian widened her eyes when she saw who was standing next to their table.

It was Arkan. The boss of her company.

How could Arkan be here?! Dian could be at risk of having her true identity discovered!
