"Love of beauty is taste. The creation of beauty is art." Emerson.
A week after, Jimin and Lord Taehyung were having breakfast alone. The table was silent, only the the sound of the juice glasses and cutlery setting on the marble table could be heard.
The Duke was reading the Dreamy Day, the number one newspaper in the kingdom. The writers and editors made sure to include all the things that happen daily in Fantasia, such as the next game of Golden Basket; it's the same concept as the regular Basketball game in Earth, except that it's played in the air. The players are mostly fairies or creatures that have wings. They must pass a kind of silver balloon and throw it on the golden basket that floated peacefully in the air.
This morning, the main page of the Dreamy Day was occupied by the portrait of a young man with pink hair. Jimin tried to read the title while Taehyung read other articles.
ROSA'S PRINCE ACCUSED OF MURDER.
He remembered the conversation his friends had with King Yoongi the previous week. The Prince of Rosa was accused to kill one of his concubines, but he insisted that he was not guilty of such a crime.
"Your grace, is the Prince of Rosa coming today?" he asked.
"Yes." the Elf nodded. "He must be on his way to the castle. I should get dressed to go greet him there."
"Why must you go?"
"All the noblemen should be present in the castle when a royalty visits." Taehyung simply answered. "I am not that pleased to see him but it is my duty."
Jimin could see the annoyance on Taehyung's face. The Lord rarely speaks of someone this way so, he made him curious about why he does not seem to like him.
"Can I ask you why you're not pleased by his visit?" he asked.
"Him and I have never been in good terms." the white-haired answered. "I do not understand why but since we knew each other, which means years ago, he did not seem to like me. I obviously wanted to get along with him, because what is better than a good relationship between the Lord of Fantasia and the Prince of Rosa? It is politically convenient for the both, trust me." he took a sip of his warm tea. "I realized he didn't like being in my presence so, I had no choice but to distance myself from him."
"Oh?" Jimin raised an eyebrow. "Why won't he like you? You're a good person!"
The Elf chuckled. "Thank you my dear." he smiled to him. "It must be because I resisted to his charm."
"Because your powers are stronger than his?"
Taehyung nodded. "Also, because he is not really the kind of male I would fall for." he smirked.
Jimin laughed. "Well, that's too bad for him."
"Exactly." the Elf ran his fingers through his long hair. "Would you like to accompany me to the castle? You haven't seen Namjoon and Hoseok since last week, maybe you'd like to spend some time with them."
"Can I?" the diamond-haired asked excitedly. "I really missed them."
"Then, go take a bath and change. Karlyle!" the Elf called his servant. "Please prepare Jimin a decent uniform, we are going to the castle."
"Alright, your grace." the blue-haired Elf bowed and left the dining room.
Taehyung stared at Jimin who was busy putting some chocolate sauce on a crêpe. He sighed, slowly regretting to ask him to accompany him to see the Prince. The diamond-haired is one of the most beautiful creatures he had seen so, he was worried that Jin might try to charm him and take him to his castle in Rosa.
????
They left Vulas after an hour. Both were dressed elegantly, Taehyung with his long silver tunique and Jimin with his light blue silk shirt that highlighted the shine of his hair.
Karlyle wanted to prepare a carriage for them but the Duke said he preferred walking. He loved passing by the village, receiving greetings and smiles from his friends. He loved admiring the nature and watching every creature's development. No matter how much time it takes him to arrive to his destination, he's always satisfied because he sees the world around him, because he feels more alive.
While walking to the closest village to the castle, they saw a dozen of guards wearing a black and dark blue uniform. Jimin was surprised because not only they were tall and handsome, they were also shirtless, wearing only black trousers and a long jacket with a belt around their waist, where they kept their weapons.
Everyone was looking at them but Jimin noticed that the other creatures were distancing themselves from them. They emptied the road to let the mysterious guards walk. Everyone looked scared and confused, like they've just seen a monster.
"What are they doing here?" Jimin heard the Duke mumble. He lifted his head and saw his staring at them with the same expression as the other creatures.
"Who are they?" he asked.
"Adalis's guards." the Elf answered. "It is not commun for them to be here in the village." he rubbed his chin. "I wonder what they are doing."
"But you said Adalis got what he wanted, why is he sending his guards again?" Jimin asked, observing how confident the males looked.
"I don't know." Taehyung sighed.
~~
They arrived at the the castle after a few moments of walking. They were greeted by the servants who took their jackets from them and leaded them to the crown room where the King was sitting.
"Your Majesty." Taehyung bowed and Jimin did the same.
"Welcome back." Yoongi said, his eyes searching for Jimin who was shyly hiding behind Taehyung.
The diamond-haired spent the entire week thinking about the beautiful moments he spent with Yoongi the last time he was in the castle. That night when they kept talking in the guest room, or the next morning when they both rode Aguless. He had never lived something that special and magical during his twenty-three years. He was certainly not ready to forget it, or the confusing change of colour on the King's eyes. He tried searching for the meaning of the purple colour but he didn't find anything. He was eager to know what was that emotion Yoongi felt when he was by his side.
"How are you doing Diamond?" the King interrupted his daydream.
"O-oh, I'm doing well. Thank you." he blushed. "How about you?"
"Not so well." the King sighed. "I have to face the King of Rosa, you don't know the struggle."
Taehyung chuckled. "We're all not so pleased to meet him again."
"I cannot bare listening to him bragging about the luxurious gifts he received from the noblemen, or how many fairies he brought to his chambers. Unbearable." Yoongi rolled his eyes.
Jimin watched him with amusement, he loved how his face looked very funny when he was annoyed. But what surprised him is that he was relaxed, his eyes didn't shift from their natural grey colour.
"Jimin!" Hoseok entered the crown room and ran to his friend. "How much I missed you!"
Taehyung and Yoongi frowned when the Wizard took the young boy in his arms and hugged him tightly.
"Aheum, you are going to kill him like this." the Duke mumbled and separated them.
"Your grace." Hoseok bowed. "What a lovely day to see you again."
"It is indeed." Taehyung smiled.
"Cousin." Namjoon joined them and gently patted Taehyung's back.
"Hello Namjoon."
"You came to illuminate the castle again?" the Healer ruffled Jimin's hair. "How are you doing?"
"Very well." the younger smiled.
"Your Majesty." a guard entered the room. "The Prince of Rosa is here."
"Let him in." Yoongi said.
Everyone turned around to see the handsome prince come in. Jimin's eyes grew wider, all the rumors he had heard about his breathtaking beauty were true. He was tall, with two large, pink-colored eyes framing a pretty face with soft, white skin. His pink hair highlighted perfectly the purple and nocturne blue royal uniform he was wearing.
"Welcome to my castle Prince Jin." Yoongi stood up to greet him.
"Thank you for receiving me." Jin smiled but it faded when he spotted the Duke standing not too far from the King.
He always hated Taehyung, not because something happened between them since they barely know each other, but rather because he was his biggest rival.
The Duke is known to be one of the most handsome creatures. His long white-hair and blue eyes never stopped charming the creatures around him. What Jin felt the most upset about is that they get attracted to Taehyung naturally while he always uses his power to seduce them.
He was jealous.
"Lord Taehyung, what a pleasure to meet you again." he faked a smile.
"All the pleasure is mine." the Duke bowed.
"I haven't seen you in such a l-" Jin couldn't keep on talking when he saw Jimin. His eyes grew wider as he stared at his shiny hair illuminating his surroundings. He approached him slowly, not taking is eyes off his diamond locks.
He stood before him, making the young boy nervous. He gently ran his hand on his hair and closed his eyes, feeling his body relax.
Taehyung, who didn't seem to enjoy the view, stepped between them and gently pushed the Prince away from him. He stared at Jin's eyes and whispered, "Not him, your Highness."
Jin ignored him and kept staring at the boy. "What is your name?"
"I-I'm Jimin." the diamond-haired shyly answered.
Jin raised an eyebrow and turned to look at the King. "How come I've never seen him before at your court?" he asked.
"He just arrived almost two months ago." Yoongi answered.
"Arrived? From where?"
The King walked toward them, "Apparently, he is coming from another world, different than ours." he said, staring at Jimin who looked very nervous and scared to he so close to the Prince of Rosa. But the young boy's eyes were focused on Jin's neck, or more specifically....his necklace. It had the same red ruby he saw around Aguless's neck. The one Kythaela got from a special friend of hers. Yoongi saw that Jimin noticed it too, they both shared a confused look and shrugged.
"Your Highness, Jimin is a very important guest here, he is our friend so, I must tell you that he cannot be a part of your...collection." Taehyung told the pink-haired prince.
Jin looked at the young boy's eyes. "I have no intention of seducing him." he mumbled quietly. "It is just that he reminded of someone." he added with a broken voice.
Jimin stared at him, his heart shattered when he saw the sadness in his eyes. He wondered if he just reminded him of a person who was very dear to him. He knew how difficult it was to lose someone you love.
"You can go rest." Yoongi interrupted the awkward silence. "We'll discuss the political matters later."
"Yes, you are right." Jin nodded. "Will you guide me to my chambers?" he asked the servants.
While he was ready to leave the crown room, his gaze landed on a tall handsome Elf who was busy talking to a purple-eyed Wizard. The Prince was too focused on how his dimples appeared every time he smiled that he didn't hear a servant calling for him.
"Your Highness?"
"Oh." Jin shook his head. "Excuse me." he said, before taking a last look at the beautiful elf before leaving the room.
????
Yoongi and Taehyung had to attend a meeting, so Jimin stayed alone with Hoseok in his chambers.
"So, what have you done the last week?" the Wizard asked.
"I have been reading more books about Fantasia's creatures. I was surprised that there were quite a lot." Jimin laughed.
"I know, it is hard to know everything about them all."
"I also have been writing other chapters of my story." the young boy added.
(⚠ Spoiler for those who want to read/reading His Majesty)
"Oh, the one you read to me the other day?!" the Wizard's eyes shone brightly. "You don't know how much I have been waiting for the continuation of the story. I couldn't stop thinking about what that Prince did when he caught his husband cheating on him with the royal secretary. I wished I could be a character in that book in order to strangle him."
Jimin laughed, seeing how mad his friend was. "I didn't bring the papers today, but I'm coming back here tomorrow with Lord Taehyung and I will bring them to read together."
"Good idea!" Hoseok exclaimed. "By the way, how is it going with Lord Taehyung?"
"What do you mean?"
"I sensed that your relationship have deepened lately. Are you perhaps... having something special?" the Wizard wiggled his eyebrows, making the younger chuckle.
"I don't know what you're talking about. It's true that we got closer during the last weeks, we know more things about each other, our habits, what we like and dislike..."
"You are basically a married couple." the purple-eyed laughed. "You even live together!"
"Hoseok!" Jimin whined. "What are you saying..."
"You did not see how jealous he got when Prince Jin approached you, he was ready to attack him." the Wizard chuckled.
"He just cares about me." Jimin smiled. "Before we come to the castle, he asked me to be aware of the Prince's power."
"Awh." Hoseok pretended to wipe a tear. "I have never seen Lord Taehyung caring about someone this way. Even when Kythaela was still alive, he didn't show much affection to her."
"I'm sure he's like this with me only because he has been lonely during years." the young boy defended.
"Or maybe there is really something going on." Hoseok said, making Jimin blush. "Poor King Yoongi, he has a strong rival this time." he sighed heavily.
"What?" Jimin was confused.
The Wizard enjoyed looking at his friend's innocent and confused face. He smirked, "Nothing."
????
Jin woke up after a long nap. The travel from Rosa was long and tiring.
The servants helped him get dressed while he was staring at himself on the mirror. "Tell me, who do you think is the most handsome?" he asked the fairies around him. "Me or Lord Taehyung?"
The females got nervous and didn't respond to him.
"Answer me." he ordered.
"I-I think Lord-outch!" another maid pinched her friend's arm. "You! Y-yes, you, your Highness!"
Jin lifted his head proudly and kept staring at himself. He ran his long fingers through his pink hair and smirked, "Of course it's me."
"Do you know where Jimin is?" he asked.
"I saw him with sir Hoseok earlier."
"I see." the Prince couldn't stop thinking about the young boy. Something about him made him feel a strong connection between them, he couldn't describe it or know the reason, but there was certainly something to find out about.
"Your Highness." another servant entered the room. "They are waiting for you in the dining room."
"I will be there in a few moments."
He wore his long purple jacket and left his chambers. He walked slowly and elegantly, admiring the paintings hung on the walls. He was so concentrated on the beautiful colours that he suddenly bumped on someone. "Excuse m-" his heart stopped when he saw the handsome elf in front of him.
"Are you alright, your Highness?"
Jin couldn't speak, the mysterious man's blue eyes were piercing his pink ones. His silver hair was arranged in a long braid that descended along his body.
"Who are you?" Jin finally spoke.
"Oh, pardon me for not introducing myself. I am Namjoon, the royal healer." the Elf bowed.
"Namjoon, I see." Jin smirked. "Where were you heading?"
"To the nursery, there is a maid who need my help, she is very ill."
"But she is just a maid." Jin scoffed. "You are the royal healer, you should only take care of royals and nobles."
Namjoon frowned. "Excuse me to tell you that there is no royalty when it comes to treating someone. I am a healer, it is my duty to take care of my patients, whoever they are." he said coldly.
The Prince raised an eyebrow, wondering how he has never seen him before. He thought it would be fun to have him around, so he decided it was the perfect time to use his power.
Namjoon knew what he was going to so, he quickly avoided his eyes and shouted, "Don't!"
Jin was surprised by his reaction, no one has dared stop him before.
"Don't try it with me." the Elf mumbled coldly.
The pink-haired crossed his arms, "Why not?"
"This is not how it works, this is cheating." Namjoon answered. "In addition to this, I already have someone I love."
"Oh?" Jin raised an eyebrow. "Do you?"
The healer nodded.
"And who is it?"
"I don't have to tell you. I have to go now." he bowed and left running to the nursery.
"Mhm." Jin rubbed his chin, his eyes not leaving the Elf who slowly disappeared from the corridor. "Someone he loves?" he scoffed. "I will make sure to let it be me." he smirked.
????
Jimin was walking alone in the garden, he was thinking about what he should add to his story. He enjoyed writing it and making the others read it, he loved seeing their reactions every time something surprising or disappointing happen. It just proves him that he is doing well and it gives him the motivation to write more.
He sat in front of the fountain and watched the water changing colours. He sighed, remembering that he didn't have the chance to talk to Yoongi. The King was so busy with meetings and the case regarding Jin's accusation. They barely spoke when he arrived to the castle. He hoped he would have some time to talk to him after dinner before Lord Taehyung asks him to go back home.
"Sir." a servant interrupted his thoughts. "Dinner is ready, please join them in the dining room."
"Alright, thank you." Jimin nodded with a smile. He watched the fairy leave, he wanted to stay a little bit more in the garden before heading inside.
He closed his eyes and raised his head to let the gentle breeze caress his face, when he suddenly heard the sound of the creaking of leaves behind him. He quickly turned his head and the sound stopped. He spotted a silhouette behind the trees and wondered if it was one of the gardeners.
He stood up to check but the silhouette disappeared. His heart started beating fast when he heard someone running. No one who lived in the castle would run, who might it be?
He ran too even though the stranger was faster. "Stop!" he shouted. "Who are you?!" he couldn't clearly see because of the leaves that were on his way. "Stop!"
He kept running until they arrived to a dead end. The stranger didn't have any way to escape from. Jimin heard him cursing as he approached him slowly.
He was surprised to see that he was wearing the same uniform as the guards he saw with Taehyung earlier in the morning.
Adalis's guard? What is he doing here?
The man looked very young, he had a small face with big brown eyes and his long black hair was arranged in a ponytail.
He looked younger than Jimin but he was better built than him. His half naked body proved enough that he must have trained very hard.
"W-who are you?" Jimin asked nervously, staring at him drawing his sword from behind his back.
"If you tell anyone that you have seen me here, prepare yourself to lose your head." the stranger mumbled with a cold voice.
"You are Adalis's guard, what are you doing here?" Jimin asked.
The young man gave him a last stare before jumping on the wall like a tiger and disappeared.
The diamond-haired was scared, he knew something was off. If Adalis sent his men here, it only means one thing. The King is in danger.
