CHAPTER FOUR; An Undeniable Threat

“ you’re getting married?” Dad asked in confusion, staring at both Dante and I .

“ Ugh….”

“ yes Mr Stewart, we’re getting married “ Dante cut through my sentence and glared at me, warning me not to display any foul .

Dad glared at me , only side eyeing Dante, almost as if he was scared of Dante. Everyone was scared of Dante King. But this type of look seemed like something was wrong..

“ can we talk in PRIVATE Adelaine” Dante said . Reading his expression, I knew I was in for an earful.

I led the way towards my room, and shut the door.

“ So you decided to play miss smart huh?” He said pinning me to the wall, he shoved his thigh in between mine, causing heat to rise to my core.

You need to focus .

Dante King was holding me hostage and I was getting turned on instead of scared.

“ What ..are..you talking about “

“ you think you can play miss clueless in front of your dad ,like you didn’t agree to it earlier, or you think I wouldn’t notice?”

“ Dante..” his thigh grazed my core causing more heat. His dark orbs bore into mine, daring me to deny. At this point, he knew what he was doing and it worked perfectly.

“ You don’t want Daddy bear and little sis to know you work as a stripper do you? ,and with Lacroy for that matter”

“ No, Dante please “ I tried shoving him of me but he wouldn’t budge. Dad and Annie thought I was just a waitress at a bar. They were quite skeptical when I told them it was for one day ,but at least they shut up when they realized how much I was making.

“ you don’t want them knowing you’re a corporate baddie by day , stripper by night?”

“ No”

He released me , walking round the room he sat on the bed, smiling at the fact that he’d defeated me..

“ You don’t want to disobey me Raven “

“Ade..”

“ I call you what I want Raven !” he ordered.

“ you would go out there, pretend like we’re a lovey dovey couple or else every hospital will close it’s doors at the sight of your father and the bone marrow transplant matching would be stopped completely “

I nodded. How exactly did he know about all that..of course he was Dante King. Apparently I was the only person that had underestimated his power, mostly because I didn’t even know him.

I nodded at his expecting gaze and he smiled.

“ Good, and you would deny ever setting foot in the Lacroy Club if there’s any interview by the police “

I nodded again.

“ Not that there will be one , but this is a mass killing and we don’t want anyone knowing who the killer is ,do we?”

I shook my head

“ Speak up Raven” he got up and came closer, tracing the contours of my face with his fingers.

“ No we don’t” I replied.

“ of course, not that they can arrest me, but there’s been a mass killing and their families might want revenge, so remember if you tell on me, we both get it”

I nodded once more . Dante’s gaze was all over my face.

“ why do you want to marry me ? “

“ Marrying you brings me under my care, no one gets to question you about Lacroy’s death, since you’re one of his trusted workers and also you were the last person to see him alive “

“ but they don’t know that” I defied.

“ trust me, everyone in Preston finds out about everything, especially my enemies “

“ how long is the marriage going to last “

“ till I want it to end Raven” he stated, clenching his fist indicating his anger.

“ But….”

“ you don’t want the blood of your father and your sister on your hands do you, I’m sure you also want a donor for Daddy bear too”

This man knew my weakness, he actually knew everything about me and for once in my life , I was trapped.

“ Alright “

“ what?”

“ I’ll marry you”

“ that’s more like it, now lets act PDA in front of your family “

I agreed , putting my arms in his and followed him out.

“ Dad, Dante and I are getting married “ I repeater confidently to him this time.

Dad’s scared look ,coupled with his stammering confused me, everyone was scared of Dante, but he wouldn’t hurt a man old enough to be his dad , would be?

“ Are you…su….”

“ Yes Mr Stewart, it would be a simple wedding ,signed in court with few witnesses, You, Annie and a few of my family members”

Dad obviously had a thousand and one questions to ask , yet he looked confused.

“ if you’d excuse me , I’d like to take Adelaine home “

I turned to Dante.

“ I would like to park my things ,Dante, I’ll come over at night “

“ aren’t we supposed to wait for after the marriage? Why the sudden haste in getting married when you’ve been together all this while as you claim” Dad stated, his tone a bit sarcastic.

“ because I say so Mr Stewart, I’m taking care of everything and I want my wife to be in my house by 9pm” Dante ordered, clearly shutting Dad up.

His fist continued to clench and fearing what he might do ,I decided to intervene.

“ I’ll be there by 9pm Dante”

He turned , giving me a warning glare which seemed to say

‘ you try anything funny and your family is gone ‘

I nodded in understanding and turning on his heels, he stormed out. The darkness he brought, leaving with him but bringing up a more tensed up environment.

Annie ,who had been quiet all this while, cleared her throat announcing her presence. Shuffling from behind me ,I keep Dad was ready to talk,

“YOU ARE NOT GETTING MARRIED TO THAT DEMON”
