Going to China was beyond me. I couldn't eat seafood talk less of the countless meats and meals I've heard about. Anna was used to such outings so it wasn't a problem for her to move over there to meet him.
She didn't feel rejected. We laughed it all up and went to sleep minutes later. Anna left much faster than I thought. She declared having to make arrangements with her family on the wedding type and the location to be used. I wanted to help but I had no idea about Chinese cuisine so I just shut myself out of it.
Jordan didn't visit me like usual so I made up my mind to visit him. He had told me his house address once In case of emergency and to me, this was an emergency or pretty much my heart leading the way.
"What are you doing here?", his lips twitched as I walked in. I couldn't give him an answer due to the sight in front of me. His house was massive, a penthouse. "Am I not allowed in?", I inquired so I could change my route if he denied me entrance. "No, you're welcome, it's just that you shouldn't be stressing yourself at a period like this. You're pregnant and you're carrying a baby in your stomach".
His excuse came with a glass of chilled orange juice. Just what I was craving after standing under the hot sun.
"Is there an emergency at the office?", he raised a question while I continued sipping the glass of orange juice. "There's none, he decided to check up on you since the company's on leave today". He had forgotten all about the one-week leave he had been spoken about for a whole two weeks before.
After a walk around the penthouse, he decided to take me out to the beach. The beach had the perfect temperature I needed. The soothing breeze from the sea helped me relax under the multicolored umbrella Jordan had set up. I was sitting on a beach chair enjoying the thirst of the smoothie Jordan had bestowed upon me after he had refused me a tequila claiming it was bad for my health and the babies.
"Do you mind a massage?", he suddenly pulled up behind me placing his hands on my shoulder.
"Yes, I do. Am pretty shy.", I placed my palm on his hands bringing him closer to me.
People present at the beach thought we were a couple, some of them came asking for pictures while the others kept questioning our relationship status. On hearing we were just friends they laughed hard trying to make us confess whatnot.
Jordan didn't disclose his real name to any of them along with his identity. So he kept an eye patch on throughout the stay on the beach.
"Are you ready to talk?", I inquired not giving up. He glanced at me shaking his head in the negative. "Come on, I want to know what’s making my cool boss restless all the time". He looked up stealing a glance of me before returning his head to its normal position.
"My sister, the elder one I mean. She kept telling me to get married saying she would soon pass away.", I could feel the coldness in his breath. He was bringing up something that hurt. "She has stage four skin cancer and only has seven months left to live. I don't know how I can find someone as responsible and diligent as would to meet her condition in just seven months. Everyone I knew got married after a year or two of courtship, I'm the only exception here".
He swept my hair to the side looking at me like he had seen something beautiful. He moved closer, our lips meeting in a soft tender kiss. I could feel my heart skip a beat as he looked into my eyes. "Sorry about that", he let out turning his head away from me. "It's okay if it helped you feel better".
I couldn't believe it. Why was I saying? That kiss was the greatest thing that's ever happened to me after that one-night stand that is. I wanted to tell him how I felt about him but it felt awkward so I just let it go.
"Are you miss Taylor Reed?", I heard a voice behind me. Turning to look, a dark man in red clothing shot up on my retina. He was pretty much good-looking but not my caliber. "Yes how can I help you?", I asked. "The boss wants to meet with you alone. It's just a friendly encounter nothing much". The man didn't look mischievous so it was easy to believe his boss was a good man.
"She's not going anywhere alone. I'm her guardian, anywhere she goes am by her side". Such sweet words Jordan spoke out unknowingly. The short man later agreed taking us both to a small cabin at the edge of the beach. The interior was fancy, huge too. I couldn't help but be anxious about how I kept on meeting rich people. From the cabin, I presumed the owner might be a business tycoon.
We got to the living room where Jordan was asked to sit while I met with the boss in the next room. There was nothing to be afraid of. I had my pocket knife ready in my handbag just in case.
"Welcome, Miss Taylor Reed.", a young man enunciated from the corner of the room signaling to me to come closer. I went forward taking my seat in front of him.
"How can I help you sir?", I paused looking into his blue eyes. Blue eyes, he had the same color of eyes as the stranger I had a nightstand with. Was this a setup?
"There's nothing to be afraid of, I mean no harm", he raised his hand showing me his palm to ensure I was safe. " what do you want exactly?".
"I just want to know how my baby's doing".
