Chapter 4

I didn't think the rump I had with the stranger that night would result in a baby. He never thought about it till this very day, so he didn't use protection?

Jordan knew about my rump with the stranger and was kind of disappointed in me, judging from the look on his face after the doctor left the room. I was back home after a few days and had been given some days off to get some rest. Jordan had helped get me some drugs prescribed by the doctor after the antenatal checkup and enlightenment I was given.

The one-night stand was taking a toll on me; I was becoming a little restless, though it all went away after some time. I kept on touching my stomach, feeling the baby that was still changing my womb. Though I couldn't touch it, I felt a great connection to it.

The baby wasn't my problem for now; I could only think of this man called Jordan. I've seen a lot of pregnant women walking around like it didn't matter. Maybe babies weren't so bad after all. I couldn't terminate the baby because I felt it was my heritage and mine to keep.

"Are you sure you can handle having a baby and working together?" Jordan asked, not wanting to stress me. He must have been traumatized seeing me out cold on the floor. "Nothing's forever, Sir Jordan; I can handle it." I convinced him to accept the fact that I would be working even though I was pregnant. He didn't agree to it at first, but after much consideration, he finally let me in on it.

Work became less stressful. Jordan was carrying the weight on his shoulders, indulging me to get some rest after every two hours. He felt I shouldn't do much work since I was going to have a baby. He made it look like he was the father of my baby, trying to give me leg massages if my legs ached and all that.

One weekend, he called, asking if I could go out to dinner with him. I couldn't reject it, nor did I want to accept it, but after much pleading, I agreed and took his advice to leave the house sometimes on weekends. 7 p.m. on the clock, his car was parked outside, waiting for me to hop in. What a kind and charming young man! He was older than me, but I preferred to call him young since his face had quite the look.

"So what will happen to the baby?" he inquired. I never once thought about what would happen to the baby in my womb, except for the fact that I was going to take care of it. "I'll become a single mother. I'll raise the child on my own to be a fine and charming young man like you with good looks," I blurted out, looking out the window.

The restaurant was a very fancy one. It had the best accessories needed for a balanced and well-equipped meal. Dinner with Jordan was one of the best nights of my life; he made me feel like a lady wanted by all. He was my boss, so no strings were attached; it was just his heart pushing to help me and nothing else. I had no chance if that's what you're thinking.

Dinner went in a jiffy, and we were about to leave. The door opened up for us as we moved closer to the exit. About to leave, my eyes caught grasp of Avery Brooks and his men walking towards the restaurant. They were. searching the entire area, and if I wasn't careful, he was going to find me. "Can we get into the car now?" I tugged at Sir Jordan's shirt; he seemed amused and slowly opened the door.

With a leap, I was in the car, resting in the back seat. I felt a rush of anxiety surge through me as he passed beside the car. Jordan's car was tinted, so there was nothing to worry about, but my heart just kept on pounding as he stood at the window side beside me.

He couldn't find me; he mustn't find me. I wasn't going back to the miserable life I suffered before, now in the hands of my parents and this billionaire from an unknown location. I couldn't be sold out to anyone; I just couldn't. It wasn't my duty to do that. I wasn't going to get clogged up in this and lose the care Jordan filled me up with. I knew I was being selfish, but it was all I could do at the moment.

"What was all that? Did you need to sit in the car that much?" Jordan questioned curiously. He had never seen me like that, so it was only natural for him to react.

I explained everything to him, not leaving a single detail out. Since he was a very good listener, he understood my situation and urged me to stay relaxed for the baby's sake. It was the third month of my pregnancy, and it would be troublesome if something happened to me or the baby, especially the baby.

Jordan didn't take his time driving out of the driveway and onto the road. None of us said a word throughout the journey to my apartment. I guess I just kept on surprising him every single time.

I was back home with Jordan in my living room, looking at me like he was lost. He eventually left disheartened about what I'd passed through and vowed to be. a better boss to me, even though he was one already.

Minutes after he left, I heard a knock on the door. No one had visited me since I had gotten the apartment, so it was really strange. Maybe Jordan forgot his keys or something. I headed towards the door, removing the locks, before opening the door to see who had decided to visit this late.

"After months of searching, I've finally found you.".
