NINE

School went by like a breeze today though I noticed some people curious and confused gazes on me, some at my ring, the others at me, and yeah I found out that my dear darling fiancé was now a student here for some reason. I decided to avoid him all day because of our date on Saturday and the way it ended.

So there I was sitting outside a restaurant, having a nice burger with fries while reading a novel, when I felt someone's gaze on me. I looked up and confirmed that it was just Lexis' driver.

As he began walking towards to me, I raised an eyebrow at him but instead of paying attention to it, he stretched out his hands to shake me and I hesitantly complied.

"Mr. Spellman or just call me Alfred. I'm Mr. Wayne's driver pretty sure you'll remember me"

"Yeah. Well okay um Alfred how may I help you" I said with a kind smile before retracting my hand.

"Oh yeah, Mr. Wayne asked me to give you back your coat. You left it in the car." He nodded curtly as he handed me back my jacket.

"Well thank you for being so kind to return it back. Unlike my so-called fiancé," I mumbled more to myself but he must have heard me because he let out a chuckle.

"You know Alex isn't always like that. You just have to give him time, he'll come around" Alfred told me with seriousness and I gave him a small smile and a nod.

"Well then I better be going" he says standing up.

"Yeah well. I'll be seeing you frequently so I guess I'll see you around" I replied.

Turning back to my book, I continued with what I was doing when I heard a newspaper drop on the table. Looking up from my book, I realized it was just Brooke and Melia who were freakishly smiling at me.

"Guess who made it to the papers this morning?" Brooke squealed.

"UM who??" I asked utterly confused.

"UM, you" Melia answered in an obvious tone as she threw me the papers and lo and behold a picture of our fake proposal catching the exact moment Lexis went down on his knees. Looking back up at the headline I sighed.

'Lorraine Stuart, daughter of businessman Jack Stuart getting hooked with mystery man'. I never knew I was this famous. I never actually made the papers but my parents have and I'm their daughter. Put two and two together and boom, that's how they know me.

"So mystery man huh?" Melia asks, raising her eyebrows in question.

"Yeah, he is. The paparazzi doesn't know who he is yet. And when they actually do, there will be more than these, especially on the tabloids" I tell her, as a matter of fact.

"And there you have it. Speak of the devil and he will appear" Brooke whispers which caused me to turn around just to find Lexis casually walking towards our table.

"Hi ladies, I would love to steal my fiancé for a few minutes, I hope you don't mind?" Gesturing to my friends.

"Oh no, we don't. In fact, we were just about going” Brooke sends a tight smile to Melia.

"We are?"

"You are?" Melia and I said at the same time.

"Uh yes, we are. Come on now Ames" Brooke looks at her trying to pass across a message and I guess Melia got it because almost immediately, they both stand up and walk away.

Sitting down beside me, Lexis throws a smug smile my way and I just frown back at him, wanting him to see how much I hate him ever since our so-called date, but for some reason, he kept on smiling.

Giving up, I asked "what do you want?"

"I'm guessing you've seen our picture already princess" he smirked.

"So back to the nickname yah? I ask but he ignores me and picks up the newspaper Melia brought and smiles.

"So mystery man huh? I bet they'll flip their shit when they find out who my father is" he says suddenly losing his amused vibe

"What exactly are you here for Lexis" I inquired.

"Oh so we are on nickname basis already" he says, his eyes twinkling with a hint of amusement. And we're back. I just ignore him and continue reading until he finally spoke up.

"Okay fine. I just came to check up on you to see if you were er- okay I guess after our er- um date" he says scratching his neck.

"Are you apologizing?" I gasped.

"No" he quickly said.

"Er- okay whatever floats your boat boy " I said turning back to my book suddenly feeling bold.

He was about to give me a stupid come back when his phone rang. At first, he let it ring until it stopped. I gave him questioning looks but he shrugged it off, ignoring it. It rung again and I spoke.

"At some point, you're going to have to pick it you know" I said honestly.

"Ah well you know I don't want to because I'm kind of in the middle of a conversation with my fiancé" he jokes causing a weird movement in my stomach but it left almost immediately.

"Just pick it" I rolled my eyes at him.

"Okay whatever" he sighed as he stood up to take the call.

I wonder who that was. Facing my book, I continued reading when I raise my head to see him stalking off his annoyance feeling his feature.

"At least a goodbye would have been sufficient " I scoffed. Can't he just act normal without switching moods every damn time.

Standing up to leave, I say to myself

"Lexis is going to be the cause of my death!!"
