Chapter 9 : Bliss!

After the tests were over, the students were given a sort of vacation. During this vacation Jihwan, Kevin, Debbie and I decided to have a day out. We will be visiting the amusement park, watch a movie and then finish the day off after dining out. Everything was decided.

The next morning, four of us woke up early. We had our breakfast in the cafeteria and went to the garden for a little stroll, since there was time. Kevin and Jihwan insisted on having a basketball game between them. So only me and Debbie were left to stroll about.

The garden was beautifully groomed. Rose bushes were grew on either side of the narrow pathway and the grasses were neatly trimmed and felt velvety to touch. There were several trees as well, in which birds made nests. These birds chirped sweetly and the sound felt extremely soothing.

This is the actual bliss of life; I murmured to myself.

You're saying something?; Debbie asked, who was also lost in this 'bliss'.

Nope, nothing; I said nodding my head.

Hey! Naomi you know what happened yesterday? Debbie said suddenly, grabbing my hands so hard that I felt they were broke.

No, what happened?; I said, surprised at her being excited so suddenly.

Sunhyo, he said...he said he loves me!; she said and covered her face with her hands, like she blushed.

Well, that's great!; I said trying to sound enthusiastic, though I wasn't.

Yes, I'm actually very glad; she said; I never told you though, but I had a kind of secret crush on him. He said, he also had the same feelings and he finally confessed his love to me.

Love! Crush! All these words seemed very funny to me. Debbie kept talking on her own, about how they met and blah, blah, blah.

But my mind was somewhere else. It was with Jihwan.

Was I having a crush on him too?

Yes maybe, otherwise who would keep looking at someone without any reasons.

Finally the time came when we were to go and have fun.

I dressed up in casuals. A white cropped shirt and high waist jeans along with my favourite sneakers. I tied my hair in a horse tail and dangled a pair of silver moon-shaped earrings.

We were to meet at the gate of the college. Jihwan said he will arrange for a car.

We met.

Jihwan looked smart and handsome in casual shirt and jeans. It became quite difficult for me to remove my eyes off him.

You're looking good; Jihwan said in his most mature voice. It felt like a handsome prince was addressing his princess.

You too; I said absent-mindedly.

Let's get in the car; interrupted an impatient Kevin.

Soon we were at the amusement park. Jihwan and Kevin got the tickets and we entered the park. I was amused by the dimensions of the park. It was like a little city, with all kinds of rides and several places to eat. It was the first time I had been to an amusement. Dad neither got the time nor could he afford the expense.

What are you looking at?; asked Kevin; Oh, I remember you've never been to an amusement park like, right?

He might not have said that with the intention of embarrassing me, but the words felt like thorns injuring my heart when I was about to pick the rose.

Jihwan seemed to sense my embarrassment and quickly said; Sometimes it's good to experience things for first time.

My slightly injured heart got healed by Jihwan's kind yet wise words. I looked at him with thanking eyes. Our eyes locked once more and I was lost again in the deep ocean of his dark brown eyes.

Let's ride the roller coaster first; Debbie said, interrupting as usual.

I shifted my gaze to where Debbie was pointing and I saw the largest roller coaster ever. It was even larger than the ones I've seen in posters. I looked at it with unsure eyes.

Um, why not something else? Let's not start with the exciting one right now; Jihwan said.

' Can he read my thoughts or is I just coincidence? '

OK, then. But we'll ride it for sure; Debbie said.

So it was decided that we'll ride the coaster at the end. Though I wasn't willing to, I agreed. Everyone wanted to ride it and surely one doesn't likes being left alone.

We rode several rides. We started off with a merry-go-round, then entered a haunted cave. It scared the scrap out of me and Debbie.

Then there was double-bike where two people can ride at once. On one bike, Debbie rode with Kevin(they were the newly made couples) and I was left no other option but to ride with Jihwan. I had never tried biking before, so I had to completely rely on Jihwan. It was because of my mistake that we fell once. Didn't hurt ourselves, though. There were several more rides, which I couldn't remember the names of. But I surely did remember the roller coaster ride.
