Chapter 6.

Mirabel's Pov

Walking in to a set table with the pack of beer which Dexter had settled on the table as he made his way to the chair close to my mom.

To which we said the grace before we began eating.

"How's stella?" I asked.

Mom smiled, "Stella Black"  she let me know,  how excellent I do my job every passing day at the firm"  mom sat straight in her chair, her  eyes glittering with excitement.

"Oh that reminds me baby, I wanted to share with you our new product we created.its like a deluxe suit" she said turning her attention to Dexter.

I smiled at how excited mom sounded about this new product.

"Sounds pretty good, babe. You know I'll definitely try it out." He said

"And how about passion fruit filling or strawberry filling for dessert"  Mom asked,

I threw my head back and laughed, Dwane quietly chuckling beside me as well due to the funny memory we had associated with strawberries.

"So Dwane what's your plan other than being the CEO mom asked, bringing in the dessert.

"None mam, I'll like to have some space since I'm done with college and since I'm now the CEO so theres no plant" he said.

"What about you Mirabel" Dexter asked inquisitively.

"Oh it's the same thing for us both" Dwane said explaining

Well here goes nothing I thought, "actually I received a mail today from university of California, I got accepted" I said cutting in rushingly.

"Congratulations dear" "what" "really" they all said at once.

"What, when did you apply, that was not the plan" Dwane asked

"Well I know but then I got accepted" I tried to explain, "we both decided that we weren't applying and now you want me to be all happy for you" he said

"Bae let's go talk about this outside" I said.

"No, no how could you betray me like this, oh so all this while you wanted to run off to meet new guys in an environment I won't be at" he countered raising his voice slightly.

"Young man you would not raise your voice at my daughter in my house" said my mom

"Bullshit now she's the daughter!!! She sure wasn't your daughter when you always abandoned her for him" he said pointing his hands towards Dexter

"Woah woah, man take it easy you might be annoyed but you cannot talk to me that way and definitely not sussana" Dextee said firmly.

"Baby let's talk about this" I said with tears at the brim of my eyes.

He chuckled" there is nothing to talk about its either you defer the acceptance letter or you can forget about me" he said

"She would do no such thing Dwane" my mom exclaimed.

"Well have a nice life at University of California then" he said storming out.

"Dwane! Dwane" I called after him.

"You shouldn't have interfered mom, just for once you could have acted like you didn't care" I said

"What I should watch him ruin your life is that what you are asking" she replied.

"Ever since Dad died you never cared" I said

"You know that not true, I care about you" she replied"I always did for crying outloud you are my daughter admist all and you knew how much your dad's death affected us all" she said shaking

"Now right not you do not get to call dad's name or when last did you remember him, I guess since his dick isn't in you right now you think properly" I screamed angrily pointing my fingers at Dexter

she slapped me across my face.

"I won't have you disrespect me in my house young woman" she stared right at me

"Then I'll leave gladly" I said storming up to my room.

"Mirabel Mira, come back here this minute" she shouted

"you should let her cool off dear, don't get yourself too worked up" I overheard Dexter say to her.

Sitting on my bed , I took out my phone trying to call Dwane to which he rejected my call everytime I tried.

Then I received a text.

Mine- Don't call me, at least I need space tonight

Me- okay b, I wanted to tell you I promise, but then things got out of hand

Mine - Good night Mirabel

Me - Good night, I love you b.

Maybe I didn't need to go to university of California, I guess I'll just defer my admission and think of how to apologize to mom tomorrow.
