Chapter 5.

Mirabel's Pov

This morning I took a cab to the school, despite my mom and boyfriend offering me a ride.

There was nothing wrong with taking a cab if you could catch one. I also didn't want to impose since I wanted to go get a dress for the birthday party.

Mom's office was right around the corner of the boutique I went to get a dress at. She'd have to go back and forth just to give me a ride and I didn't want that so I took a cab.I was in luck because the driver had excellent taste in music.

Soft jazz tunes were playing in the background while I went through my mailbox.

I smiled seeing University of California  in the list of emails I received. I tapped on it and read through it.

Miss.Mirabel

You impressed us once again. We would like to inform you that your request to be a student in our university has been approved. See you the following semester

"Yay" guess all that's left is for me to tell Dwane and my mom about this news. Moving on to the next I got a mail concerning the bonus I received from my little writing job which will be enough to get a dress for I and my mom.

A bonus that means that they paid me royally, It was no effort at all to write for the biggest blogging company. Currently, they were  the only client I had and they paid me enough each week for me to live an average life. The designer clothes and shoes were paid with the money I received from my mom as an allowance. I didn't own a huge collection but enough to impress those who'd judge me.

I wanted to get a cocktail which was a  royal blue color for myself and order a sparkling dress for mom , knowing that my mother will be so happy about this despite the fact that she has being a strict and sometimes harsh woman due to her career, she adored me but she just couldn't express those feelings well.

"We've arrived, Miss."I paid the driver and climbed out of the cab.

The evening breeze was cold, a biting cold which seeped into your bones. I wrapped myself up in the woolen grey coat I was wearing and entered the boutique. I was greeted with polite smiles from the staff.

After getting the dress I went home, then texted Dwane to come over due cause I have a good news for him

Me - Hey baby, can you come over?

Mine- sure give me 2 minutes, love you❤️

Me- love you too❤️

Some minutes later i heard the door bell so I went to open the door.

"Let me take your coat, Mr Dwane"

I could see that he was surprised by my offer but was eager so he handed over the coat.It was quite warm inside

"Thank you so much dear"

"Of course, baby"

I reached the table and sat down beside him

"You behaving weird today b."he said

I raised an eyebrow at him, "What? No,this is the normal me." I brushed his inquisitive comment off, "How are you?"

"Good. Thank you for asking." He then continued, "And that new guy at the diner was asking about you as usual, You're just weirdly oblivious to men who are interested in you."

Then we heard the twisting of the key at the door,

"Hey guys" my mom said.

"Hi mom" "hey Mrs Susan" we both replied.

I did not want to discuss this right now and definitely not in front of my mom. Dwane knew that too but he still dared to mention it anyway. I thought now that we were adults we moved past that stage, but apparently not.

"Let's go outside to the porch" I said dragging Dwane along

Dwane and I shared a look.

"Seriously, you know that guy doesn't like me and even if he does I do not like him doesn't that count?" I said sadly

After a few minute of silence he sighed

"Of course you'd say that, yes it counts" he said pulling me into his arms.

"So as I was saying before you started with this your drama and all, I went to get a dress"I said.

"Did you get the..." Dwane was saying when Dexter came in.

"Hey Dwane, hey Mirabel" he said

"Hey Dexter" Dwane greeted him while they shook hands after which he asked for my mom then went inside to meet her

Dexter's Pov.

I stared around my town square. All of his people were preparing for the festivities of the full moon. 

During the full moon my pack went out hunting and running wild in the surrounding forests, and when they came back they feasted.

The humans who lived in their community prepared the meal for them.The humans who lived with them were made aware of the creatures of the their world. My father before me had taken great pride in mixing with humans, and I had carried on the tradition which i am glad I did. 

Personally before I met Susanna i couldn't stand humans. Sure, they were great to fuck, but they were far too fragile and emotional. I'd seen many of the men bleed from a single punch. Being strong was the skill to survival but taking over as the alpha meant he'd taken responsibility of the humans

Inhaling the crisp morning air, i moved along the town. The pack was in the middle of nowhere and surrounded by miles upon miles of forests. There were several rivers and lakes, but the main community was in the only open space of the forests. My ancestors had made a deal with several warlocks and witches in order to blank the area from human knowledge. 

The spell created a protection spell that meant no human would ever try to tear it down.

Most of the humans who passed through the pack would either leave immediatelybecause of the threat of danger or disappear if they caused any trouble. The few human families who stayed were due to votes by all pack members. On my last count over fifty human families lived amongst them. None of them caused any trouble, and that was the way i wanted it. Letting out a sigh i watched all the tables being set. The full moon was tonight wishing he could be with her this night but i felt my wolf inside me clawing to get out for a run and didn't want to scare her with my wolf. Flexing my muscles i made my way towards the diner.

Some of my pack memberd loved creating new buildings, and one of those was the diner. I'd  arranged for the equipment to be shipped in, so the cooks had everything to create great food. I ran a tight ship,but no one complained when everyone got everything they needed:food,water, shelter, and entertainment.

“What do you need Alpha?” Walter, my gamma, asked

“I'm hungry.”

“Don't you have a woman at the house, Sonia perhaps?”

At the mention of that name i growled lowly at him. I'd stopped seeing sonia the pack slut ever since he has been with Susanna but then my gamma Walter didn't know this.

The fates decided who' d be perfect for me. Several years ago I'd have gotten a tightening in my gut when I looked at a human woman but Susanna is everything I have ever wanted.

“Sonia not doing it for you anymore?”

Walter's words irritated me.

We were several feet from the entrance to the diner. I saw Adam and Christabel, who were the other top members of the pack. All four of us were the strongest in the pack.

"She's pissed me off.”

“Let me guess. She wants commitment?” Walter asked, opening the door to the diner.

“She wants to be mated with me, I can't fucking mate with a lady who turned herself into the pack slut and i don't fucking want her at my side.” I explained

The scent of Mac and cheese and coffer scented the air. Adam and Christabel walked over to where i and Walter were seated. They acknowledged the pack members that were eating also in the diner as they passed.

“she could be the worst and a bitch at that but then you and I both know that is the strongest bitch in the pack,” Adam said, taking a seat.

“You've got the bitch part right. Sonia's a nasty piece of work. If you put her in charge of the females, there'll be trouble. She's got no respect and no love inside her," Christabel said, looking up from the plate of burger placed in front of her.

I lifted my hands signalling for a cup of coffee immediately a waiter came over with a cup.Once she was gone, i turned back to my friends. “I'm not mating Sonia. She's was great in letting off sexual steam with, but other than that, not going to happen. I believe I'll find someone for me.” I said with finality.

Christabel went back to eating her food while the other two men grumbled. All of them had found their mates and majority of the lower ranking members of the pack hadand were happily married. Glancing across the diner I saw the happiness Adam shared with his mate Chloe.

Deciding i had stayed away from Susanna enough, I went out to my car to which my driver drove off to my private jet which flew him to Miami.

When i got to Miami I drove off to Susanna's not wasting a second, but stopped as soon as i saw Dwane and Mirabel out on the porch , the love on the guy's face was clear. Dwane stroked her arm with one hand while the other was wrapped around her neck. She was practically sitting in his lap.

I remember asking my father what love was that night, the night I first met Mirabel and was heartbroken.

"It's like having everything your heart desires. I love to see her smile, and when she smiles at me, my whole world is complete.I'll do anything for her as long as she loves me at the end of the day.” he said

“So you get to buy that......, Hey man, what's up?” Dwane asked, changing the subject as soon as he noticed my presence.

“well I'm good, Mirabel is your mom home" I asked shaking hands with Dwane

"Yeah she is, I think she's in her room though" Mirabel replied.

"Thanks, talk you guys later" i said walking into the door making my way into the house.

From the use of his werewolf abilities, i knew my eyes had changed colour .

She's here, his woman, was coming down the stairs.

Id never scented anything like her before . I closed my eyes as a great wave of peace settled over me.

“Shit, baby is it time.. I'm so sorry, I'm not prepared” Susanna said. I guess she didn't set an alarm or maybe she slept through as it rang and she'd slept through until ten.

“Don't worry about it my love,” i said reassuringly. "We could always have a steaming shower with a bottle of wine"i said trailing kisses down her neck.

“ Or we could all have dinner together. Me, you, Mirabel and Dwane ” she suggested. She hadn't been the strongest and best mom because of the death of her husband , but she really wants to make an improvement with her relationship with Mirabel and I can't seem to make her relent in her effort.

"Urrrgh, you know you drive me crazy but anything for you babe" i said giving her a smacking kiss on her lips as she made her way towards the door

“Dwane, come let's all have dinner together, Mira why don't you come and help me set the table" she called out and made her way to the kitchen with Mirabel trailing behind her

"I'll go get beer sweetheart" I said as I went into the fridge for some.
