Plunging into a new Beginning

"You know, I'm gonna literally have to start getting used to you not being in the team anymore." Vanessa sighed loudly through the FaceTime call, moving her hair to the other side of her face.

"It's literally so boring, like there's Savannah but it just doesn't feel the same without your presence." Vanessa continued, running a light pink brush through her rich blonde hair.

"I know, I can't believe it's been already a day since I left The Butterflies. I miss you guys already." I answered solemnly, thinking of a way to tell her I'm now in The TigerSharks.

"Wait so tell me! Spill the beans! How did it go? We haven't really talked that much after your switch. You better not have a new bestfriend already!" Vanessa scoffed, putting her phone in a low angle, giving her a double chin.

"Make sure you're not gonna freak out." I laughed, eyeing her double chin through FaceTime.

"You got switched to The Sirens!?" She yelled out, dropping her comb on her bed. She showed great excitement since The Sirens are one of the best all girls swim team, second to The Butterflies.

"No"

"The Pearls?"

"No"

"The Gazelles?"

"Nope"

"The Black Widows?"

"One more."

"The Anacondas?"

"Ew, no."

"Ugh whatever then I give up, just tell me what team?" Vanessa groaned, immediately piercing her hazel eyes unto my blue ones.

"The TigerSharks." I gritted my teeth, curious to see her reaction.

"Ha..ha.. Very funny Arielle, that's an all-boys swim team you know." Vanessa fake laughed, having an irritated tone in her voice.

"Look, hoe!" I grabbed my phone, preparing to send her pictures of my credentials saying how my team has been switched to the TigerSharks.

"Arielle, what the heck!" Vanessa screeched, causing me to bring the volume a bit more lower.

"What? How? When? Why? Is this a prank!" Vanessa continued to yell, making me laugh out loud to her dramatic self. "But, isn't that an all boys swim team?" Vanessa questioned with a confused tone.

"That's what I was thinking, but I really don't know why I got switched to it, they never told me the reason." I explained, reminiscing about some of my experiences at the team so far.

"You know what this means right? Parties, hangouts, reunions, popularity, ugh this is so good for me-us I meant us." She yelled one last time, trying her best to contain her excitement.

"Let's not get too excited, I'm literally only swimming there because I like swimming, not because im looking for a boyfriend." I looked to my right, checking the time that read 10:23 p.m. I let out a deep sigh. "But, talk to you tomorrow alright? I'm like tired from practice today and I just really wanna sleep." I waved at the camera, saying goodnight to her.

I laid down on my bed, flashing through the day and how unreal it feels to now officially be apart of the most known swimmers at Amphitrite.

The school environment felt very different the next day. It seemed like everyone wanted to talk to me and hang out with me. Although, most of them just wanted to talk about the boys in my team and not really cared for me as a friend.

Great.

"Alright kids! Dismissal! Everyone leave!" Mrs. Perron yells out as she placed both of her hands on her face, probably from stress. "I do not get paid enough for this!"

It seems like every staff member in this school feels like they don't get paid enough for their job.

"See you in practice babe." Max winked as he passed me and Vanessa, making my face immediately wince as he kept looking at me.

Ew.

"You're dating him!?" Vanessa exclaimed, shaking my arm aggressively.

"Ew no, he's such a fuckboy. He literally asked if I was down to get laid yesterday, like who the hell asks that." I explained as I side-eyed her shocked facial expression.

"I WOULD'VE SAID YES!" Vanessa rocked me back and forth, making me and her laugh.

"Vanessa you would!" I laughed, nudging her on the shoulder.

"No I swear!" She tried to calm down as she continued to talk. "Do you know how hot Max is? He might be a man whore or whatever but you can't deny the fact that he's honestly so hot."

"I guess." I couldn't help but shrug as she rolled her eyes at me.

"You really need to add some excitement in your life. You're in a team filled with models and you don't even seem like you wanna do anything with them, I'm so confused." She let out a smile of annoyance as we proceeded out the room.

"I'm just scared to like throw myself around like that you know? You remember what happened last time." I sighed as she slowly nodded her head at me.

"But it's senior year, and maybe this team is a sign for you to live a little! You also shouldn't care if you get called anything because you're the one getting the action, and the people that will give you hate for having fun are probably just really jealous and ugly." She smiled proudly as my mouth widened at her words.

"Vanessa stop! You're so loud." I laughed loudly as I tried to quiet her down.

"I don't care!" She furrowed her eyebrows down at me. "You hear that folks! My best friend gets dick and you guys don't!" She yelled out, catching many glances and stares from the strangers around us.

I wanted to shrivel up in a corner and die. "I don't know her!" I yelled out as Vanessa burst out in laughter.

"Let me get that for you!" A voice yells from behind me, making me stop in front of the door.

My eyes widened in curiosity as I slightly turned towards the person.

"Hey Arielle!" Trevor got in front of me to open the door, whipping his hair to the side as he spoke. "I know I barely know you but I'm glad to have a girl in the team! Just someone I can relate to you know?" He smiled, revealing his perfectly white teeth. He walked with me into the gymnasium, catching other people's eyes who seemed heavily interested in Trevor.

Oh god I have to ask him a question but I don't wanna seem rude. Oh my oh my oh my.

It won't hurt right?

"Hey don't take this the wrong way, but are you gay?" I whispered, trying my hardest to sound as polite as possible.

"Promise you won't tell?" He retorted, clenching his sharply defined jaws towards me.

Aw he's so cute!

"The team doesn't know?" I was trying my best to whisper so no one would hear.

"Um no, they don't..." Trevor opened the door to the pool, putting his hand on the back of his neck as he anxiously chuckled.

"Well, I'm pretty sure you won't have to worry about it. Someone's opinion about a person should never change just because of their sexuality." I spoke, entering the door first. "And if it does? Take them out of your life!" I smiled politely.

"You know, I like that about you Arielle." Trevor simpered. "You just seem like a person that I can say everything to, and won't get shit for it." He continued to speak, closing the door behind us.

"Honestly likewise." I responded, walking through the hallway and into the locker room. "We need more people like that in the world."

"Right." Trevor returned my smile as he spoke.

Trevor walked the other way as I walked myself towards my locker, my eyes landing at another boy.

They're everywhere, my goodness!

"How do you like the team so far?" Caleb asks, opening his locker as he looked at me from the corner of his eyes.

"I really don't know yet, I mean I barely even memorize the team members names yet." My sentence came out more soft-spoken that I thought it would.

"Then I guess I'll have to do whatever it takes to make you remember my name then." He said confidently, preparing to speak again. "And hey, you beating Diego is a pretty big thing, good job." He let out a charming smile, running his hand through his jet black hair.

His smile exposed two cute dimples, that made me just wanna pinch them.

The longer I looked at his face, really showed how attractive Caleb was. His well constructed face complemented his well defined body and the more he talked, the more I tried to fight the urge of running away and crying from how hot he was.

Trying to calm the thirst when your constantly surrounded by 10 insanely attractive guys all the time, is easier said than done.

"I mean, it wasn't even challenging. My female friends are probably a hundred times faster than him." I laughed, making him laugh also. "And I don't think it was a big deal. It was just a friendly race, that's all.

I noticed Caleb preparing to speak again, but Abel came inside the locker room interrupting our conversation.

"Hey coach said y'all should be outside practicing already." Abel declared, having a subtly impatient tone in his voice.

"It was nice talking to you." I gave Caleb a polite nod, proceeding to the pool as I awkwardly waddled away.

"Same to you!" I hear him yell out behind me, making my cheeks blush for no reason.

Being in a pool with ten guys felt very uncomfortable and unusual for me. It's like having 10 cameras pointed at me, eyeing my every move.

The intimidation from all these incredibly attractive guys made me wanna try to impress them more for some odd reason, instead of actually participating in practice. Which is pretty inadequate for someone who wants to be a professional swimmer one day.

I would flip my hair twice as hard, I would try to always have the face of a model, I would try to get out of the pool a lot more sexier, which basically meant me looking like a washed up whale from the ocean.

This team will be the death of me..
