Her best friend

Chapter 2

Tomorrow Dad and I both have school. He is at his work and I am at our school.

I woke up earlier than Father Jasper so I also cooked our breakfast. Sometimes Dad wakes up first and he prepares our breakfast. Ready for the table.

My father and I always have this daily routine. We will eat our breakfast together and talk more.

When I finished getting myself ready and getting ready to go in, I first packed our lunch.

The only dish I cook for Dad and me is vegetables and corn beef. It's often boiled eggs.

My father's working place is further away and we would leave our house together and walk to the parking lot. At the jeep terminal, it's the same but we'll be riding different jeeps.

I slung my bag over my shoulder and put Dad's pocket in his backpack. I caught up with him in the living room fixing his shoelaces.

He turned to me and smiled, "Are you ready, son?" he asked me.

"Yes, Dad. Let's go!" I said happily. In the morning I was very hyper. Fortunately, I don't run out of energy.

My hand was wrapped around Dad's thick and big arm while we were walking and we even passed by Aling Sahara's pansiteria and as expected he was going to hand us a dish again.

Dad is already ashamed to accept what Aling Sahara is giving us, but he is bad at refusing grace, so Dad will scratch his head and accept it so that they don't have to talk any longer.

I'm not worried about the fact that he gives us food almost every day. Because the lady has a business and I know Aling Sahara cooks them, she has an assistant in the preparation.

Then it's fine...

"Thank you for this, Sahara. You shouldn't have bothered," Dad said shyly.

"Oh! It's fine! You're no different from me, and this is your son's tutor for my eldest son, Jasper," Aling Sahara excused himself.

Yes, he is right. I became his eldest daughter's tutor. He is still in Senior High School and his youngest is still in elementary school.

"Thank you, Aling Sahara! You cook really well, eh!" I praised the lady with a smile.

"Oh hey, let's go. You and father should go because you two might be late for school."

"Thank you again, Sahara. Let it go and the next day my son and I will take care of you," Dad said softly.

"Oh, not even now! I'm happy that I can help you and your father and I'm just really happy for your son because with him my eldest is no longer stubborn and he can teach that boy. Thank you again, Jam?" he said and held me by my hand, he gently squeezed it.

"That's nothing, Aling Sahara. I'm happy to help them," I said.

Be careful, son," Dad told me and kissed me on the forehead before he got into the other jeep.

"Be careful too, Dad," I said to which he just nodded.

The jeep quickly filled up because of the number of students who boarded.

A few minutes ago I arrived at the University I attend. After paying my fare, I was in a hurry to get off and I was with someone but I didn't have any trouble because my seat was near the door of the jeep.

"Finally," I whispered softly to myself and straightened my crumpled uniform.

My uniform is a white blouse with a dark blue ribbon around the neck and my skirts are the same color. I even fixed my short hair because the wind blew it earlier.

It was still early so the sun could barely peek out of the sky. The weather is clear and not dark even though there is no sun yet. It's not hot yet because of the fresh air.

At the guard house of gate two of our University, there were only two security guards on duty this morning. As usual, they are strict with the students.

Some of my schoolmates forget their IDs or maybe they don't even like to wear them. So they will just take the rest from their backpack.

As for me, I hung it around my neck a while ago so that they could see your ID immediately without any questions? and I can go straight inside.

The only mistake the security made was that they checked each student's ID. If they see it around our neck, they will immediately wave their hands saying that they can enter.

So they often borrow other people's IDs just so their friend can enter outside the gate.

Just like this...

"Oh, thank you! I thought I'd come back to us just to get that pesky ID!" said a woman whose skirt was too short. He even stroked his rebonded hair.

Since when did the identification card become a pest, Sister? Maybe you're the only pest because you forget important things.

"And your mom will scold you again. Next time, make it a habit to wear ID. We won't borrow from our classmate, that's too embarrassing!" preaching to him by one who is too busy with his cellphone touch screen. He is fine and can walk without stumbling.

"Yes! Don't lecture me!" replied his friend who looked annoyed with him.

I just shook my head and continued walking and headed to our department. It's not far from gate 2 no matter how big our University's ground is.

It's 6:31 AM, too early for normal students. The time of my first subject is 8AM, I don't know if the whole department has the same time.

If it's 8 because it's only 7AM, they're already here to prepare for their first subject, but the habit of others is to hang out in different departments. Chat with friends.

Me, I'll just be quiet in our classroom and do advanced reading.

After entering, I went to my permanent seat, in the second row. The room is also not permanent because of our subject. Once again we go up to the fourth floor just for the next class. Only those instructors have a permanent classroom. We students adjust.

Unlike when you were in elementary school or high school, there is a permanent seat and a permanent classroom as well. After all, we are in college. It's fine for exercise.

A few of my classmates were inside and focused on their cellphones with the headsets in their ears.

I sat in my chair and placed my bag on the desk. I took out my notebook. We are fourth year college so all our classes are major subjects. So you must study really hard so that you don't fail and you are still included in the list of those who will graduate this year.

In the second sem is our OJT. Right now I'm still thinking about which company to do OJT with.

While I was busy reading, someone touched my arm and when I looked at it, it turned out to be Astralley.

My one and only best friend Astralley Villegas. Astralley is a beautiful girl, Alley for short. He is also kind but only in a kind way. He also has a curse, eh. Especially among the students who are jealous of him because of his parents who are known to be the richest in the whole country.

They have a family business and she is the only daughter in their family. He has older brothers and a younger brother. Austin is still in elementary school. Kuya Asher and Kuya Archer are both businessmen.

There are others who only approach him because of his older brothers, so he is very familiar with them.

As usual, Alley looked awake again when I checked his face. His lower eye was black and swollen. He seemed to cry.

"You look stressed in that situation," I commented. He dropped his backpack on his desk and leaned against the headrest of his chair and took a deep breath.

"'What happened to you?" I still ask.

"I'm brokenhearted even though I don't have a boyfriend," she said sadly.

"I'll guess," I said and straightened up, "Because you're reading Wattpad again, right?" I asked him raising an eyebrow to which he quickly nodded.

That's why he always stays up because of his Wattpad friend. I once saw that application. But I never once planned to read the stories, yes I know they are good but I just don't really have any interest. I pay more attention to my studies.

Well, Alley, not a day goes by that you don't see him holding his phone and reading.

I often catch him laughing, excited and later you will hear his soft sobs and his simple wiping of tears from his cheeks.

"I just finished reading The Silence Waves," he said and his eyes immediately turned red.

Well, this one has finished a novel but why is he sad?

"Hey, you won't be reading another novel like that," I promised but he shook his head.

"Because I still can't get over women, eh. Especially the bait of men," he said.

"Did I think about the ending?" I will ask.

Because he looked stressed, I guess he hadn't fixed his hair yet so I reached out to comb it with just my fingers.

"At the end! Because the girl died!" he shouted which still shocked me.

Our other classmates who had just entered looked at him. The busy people on the phone also looked at our behavior even though I know they didn't hear Alley's voice.

"What if the woman died?" I still ask.

"Eh, because...he must be alive. He promised his sister that he would go to her graduation day! He still has many dreams and one of them is to marry the man he loves who is set to marry another woman but his parents fought him this is when he's gone!" his long litany and my forehead furrowed.

I scratched the bridge of my nose because of his sudden burst out, "Alley, not all stories have a happy ending. Disaster does happen to the heroes and they are destined to die but Alley... It's just a story That's it, eh. It's just a fantasy of the writers and you're happy OA. Why are you affecting that?" I asked angrily and turned my attention back to reading.

"I can really feel the bait, eh. The emotion of the male part is so intense and I'm carried away," she answered, "Why is the ending like that? He has other works that are all happy endings, but why The Silence Waves him?! It's so tragic! You can just be happy and not cry anymore!" he promised hysterically.

"That's the author's thinking and his decision, Alley. You can't dictate the ending he wants for his novel. It only means one thing. Not all stories have a happy ending, many don't the protagonists stay together because they are destined for others. Just like the girl you read about, she is destined to die," I explained that I was shocked by what she did next.

The one who sobbed when our instructor entered was confused when he looked at my friend. Why is his face down on the desk and his shoulders shaking.

"What happened, Ms. Villegas?" Ma'am Nikihara asked still confused.

His answer was, "I'm just hungry, Ma'am."

Gaga had a bag so she was allowed to eat inside our classroom while Ma'am Nikihara was teaching. It is said that it is bad to study on an empty stomach.

Alley is a food lover so I have never seen him cry. His smile was really wide and he was going to give me a sandwich which I refused because I didn't want to study while eating. He was comforted by his foods.

The discussion ended and I patted his forehead. Only a low moan came out of his mouth.

"You really lie, don't you?" I said.

"That's half true, Jam. I'm really hungry! I didn't eat properly because I went with Brother Asher," she reasoned out.

I just nodded because we're going into our next subject.

Alley didn't do any more drama, but he said that he didn't get over it. He just listened to the whole class. He's smart but he's just too lazy to study. He prefers to just eat.
