Chapter 3: Danger

Levi’s POV

“Where’s Shara?” I asked, pushing the door open as I entered the house. The loud bang resounded in the living room and with a blink, I became the center of attention.

Everyone inside shook their heads ‘no’. These guys didn’t really take my advice seriously!

“Maybe she went somewhere else to play with anyone,” James’ boringly commented. He was sitting on a chair with a book in his hands.

I sighed. My sister was indeed mischievous but she couldn’t just leave whenever she wanted.“Aish! By the way, what are you all doing?” I look around and they seemed too lax.

Again, no one answered me. These guys just shrugged as they went on with their business. Goodness, why did I even bother myself asking them?

“What’s the matter though?” Kil asked me. Finally, there was someone in this house who was sensible enough to ask what’s going on. I turned in his direction with a relief expression painted on my face. My expectation of him getting interested in my sister who never went home for a few days crumbled when I saw him laying on the couch while playing a game on his mobile.

“There has been a lot of victims these past few days. How many times I should tell you to avoid preying on humans?”I told them with my hands on my waist. I could not keep my calm. And I know I should not be mad but it was all for our safety.

“I have nothing to do about it,” said James. He turned his head back to the book he was reading.

“Me either,” Cedric confirmed and even raised his both hands and shook them. He didn’t say anything else and started strumming on his guitar.

I looked at Kil who was now raising a brow. He was no longer holding his phone although he kept occupying most of the space on the sofa.

“It must be your little sister. She knows nothing except causing such ruckus,” James mumbled. I turned to James and thought he must be right. Shara would most like to do those stuff without giving her endless warnings beforehand.

But where I could find that brat?

“James--” I’m about to ask him some things when he looked away.

“I told you, I don’t know anything. I just thought it must be her since she’s always playing around,” he told me and completely avoided my gaze.

James and Shara were of the same age. They used to be together most of the time but I’d noticed that recently Shara was not staying home and James seemed irritated when talking about her.

As for Cedric, he was younger than the rest of us, or maybe not since we don’t know Kil’s exact age. No one knows about Kil’s history. When we met, he was already alone. Aside from the fact that he was also a vampire, we could not tell anything more about him.

We’re all born vampires. Our parents, too. They raised us to live just like ordinary humans though we’re used to feeding blood more decently, sometimes we couldn’t deny the urges of sucking off blood from a living human. But it was tolerable after some hard training.

Even as a vampire, there were still risks that we had to bear. Compared to other vampire races, we’re much weaker since we didn’t feed on human blood directly from a living one. At least, not all the time.

Kil’s POV

It had been a few hours since Levi told us about the trouble caused by some stubborn vampires who couldn’t behave themselves and let their urge to suck on human blood. After his endless banter, he decided to go outside and look for his sister, Shara.

Well, I had no say about what he nagged about. I admitted that I would be fed on human blood too but not to the point of killing my victims.

I was playing chess with Cedric when I felt a pang of pain in my ears. I could hear a very disgusting noise. It was so painful!

“Hey Kil! What’s wrong with you?” I tried to held my face up when Cedric asked me but I could not. I helplessly put my hands on my ears as the sound kept on breaking my eardrums

“Ahhhhhhh!!!” I yelled in pain. Blood started to ooze out my ear and the noise was just getting louder.

“Kil? Kil!” I could not hear anything they say. I could only see Cedric’s lips moving as if he was telling me something.

I saw James coming up as Cedric tried to pull me up.

A series of images showed up in my mind and it reminded me of someone. “S-save her-r,” I mumbled before I finally lose consciousness.

---- a few hours later

I woke up when I heard Cedric and Levi talking.

“We need to be certain first before doing anything else,” Cedric said in a serious tone. They hadn’t noticed that I was already awake.

“You’re right. We should not be careless. I feel sorry about him,” Levi agreed. When he realized I was awake, he turned his head in my direction.

“I told you, you don’t have to feel sorry for me.” I feel annoyed by the idea that my friends think I was pitiful because of my condition. An orphan with no family background. I hate thinking about it but that’s me. No one.

I pursed my lips.

“I’m sorry, that’s not what I meant to say,” Levi tried to explain. I shook my head, there was no sense talking about this now.

“It’s fine. Forget it,” I replied.

I lifted my hand to touch my ear when Cedric speak.

“Kil, who is she?” I was confused for a bit when I remembered something important. I immediately pulled myself up.

I needed to check on her.

“Kil, wait! Where are you going?” I heard Levi asked but I didn’t have much time to talk about it.

I didn’t waste my time.
