Chapter 4

Kyler's Pov

You alright?" Ken asked me and passed the ball. We are now in court. Just after class, we went straight here.

I just nodded and passed the ball to Troy. It was as if I was strong enough to hit his chest.

"Maybe you're not angry, are you?" He said laughingly. "You were quiet earlier, you were fine this morning, but when you came to the canteen earlier, you seemed to be out of the mood."

"I just have a lot to think about." I said and sat down.

Earlier in the canteen, I saw how Troy served Kayla, it was like they were right in front of me. I couldn't move because Shiela wasn't holding me.

"Where are we tomorrow after school?" Ken asked.

"What's tomorrow?"

"Don't tell me you forgot it Kyler. It's friends day. It's our friends' anniversary."

Oh right!

Why did I forget?

It's our 4 year anniversary for being friends. Valorie came up with this idea to celebrate the day when our friendship started.

"Why don't we go to the fair? Let's try. Then for dinner, let's make a reservation at our favorite restaurant. We need to experience the things that we haven't tried." Ken's suggestion.

"Ask the girls Ken, if they want." Troy said "Where are they?"

"Go home, they said they need to review, especially since we have an exam on Monday."

"Let's go home." I said and stood up.

"Go home first, I just have to go to something."

I looked at Ken. "Woman?"

"Get it." It said. Does he have a girlfriend? It's strange because it became hyper the other day. If he didn't have a girlfriend, he would definitely be quiet and serious like me. He is inspired maybe.

"Who is that unlucky girl?" Troy asked.

"Your sister Tricia."

"What the fuck!" Troy shouted and was about to attack Ken but he ran away.

"Bye see you tomorrow!" It's goodbye.

"The hell."

"Come on, let it go." I said and put my arm around Troy.

"I didn't know he was flirting with my brother! Since when?"

I shrugged.

"Get ready tomorrow...wait "the car isn't there, take me."

I just grinned.

"So how are you? Are you dating him?" I asked while we were in the car.

"Well..I asked her but she rejected me."

Why is that?

"But I told her that I will still date her even if she doesn't want to. I will prove to her that I'm the best man for her."

"Are you happy Troy?"

"I must say, yes. Every time I see her I feel happy. Aside from my family, she is one of the things that make me happy."

Okay.

I got it. For my friend Troy, I will forget my feelings for Kayla. I can see in my friend's eyes that he is really happy, that he is really in love. I will step aside for him, but I can't promise that I will avoid Kayla especially since we are seeing each other and being together.

"Are you going to support me?"

I frowned.

"It's fine with you that I court him, isn't it?"

I slightly smiled. "Of course, why not. I don't like Kayla at all." Lies! "I will support you where you are happy."

"I'm happy that I have a friend like you, you and Ken."

I just patted him and didn't say anything.

Alright....I'll be patient.

Mikayla

"I'll be home late brother, I've already said goodbye to aunt. She agreed." I said to my brother who I'm talking to on the phone now.

"What if I don't agree?"

"Brother, it's our friends' anniversary, so please...."

"Fine just don't be too late."

I smiled. "Thank you brother, love you. Bye." I even jumped in shock because of Val's sudden riding behind me. "My gosh Val, you're heavy." You complain and he immediately comes down. "It's bad, I'm about to break my bone."

"Oh, where are the others?" he asked. We are here at the school gate, waiting for the other classmates.

"Aren't you with Tyra?"

"Yes, but I went to the bathroom and he went, I don't know."

"There he is." I sneered at Tyra who was approaching us."

"Eh Shiela? Oh for sure she went to Kyler again.... And I was right!" It pointed out Shiela was with Kyler and Ken.

"Troy will be late, he still has to deliver his brother." Kyler said.

"Will he follow there?" I asked, Kyler just nodded.

"So let's just commute? It's more fun." Ken said so we waited for the jeep. When we are together we prefer to ride a jeep than a private car.

I frowned because Shiela was just clinging to Kyler, she didn't even come close to us. It's just sad because we're not like before when we were always together, he was always attached to me but now he's not anymore.

When I arrived at the fair, I just quietly followed them. They were all messing around but I didn't seem like I was in the mood. I was just listening to what they were saying and answering their questions, but I couldn't enjoy it too much because I could see how sweet Shiela and Kyler were.

"Sorry I'm late."

I looked at who stepped aside and walked with me. The smiling Troy.

"Just when you arrived." I said.

"You're here." Kyler said here. "So we're done, what do you want to try?" He asked.

"Rides?"Yes, let's go for rides!" Shiela happily said running to the ferris wheel, the others got on.

"Do not you like?" Troy asked me, because we're the only ones who haven't boarded yet.

I forced a smile and shook my head. "I-I'm afraid of people like that." I said. I'm actually really scared. I had an accident like this when I was young so I never tried it.

"Aren't you going to ride?" Kyler asked?

"Mikayla is afraid of rides, because something happened before." Shiela said. Yes, she's with me that time so she knows.

"I'll go with Mikayla, we'll just go around." Troy said.

"Oh no Troy, if you want to ride go ahead. I'll just wait here."

"I'll come with you here Mikayla."

"Okay, wait for us." Val said.

Before leaving, Kyler left, when Shiela saw it, she was about to leave, but she left. He was shouting Kyler's name.

"Why did you leave?" I will ask.

"I'll go with you guys. I'd rather go around." He said and walked first.

"We must try this." Troy said, we stopped at a pop the balloon game.

Troy played first, he got chocolates and small stuffed toys. I didn't expect him to give me that.

"I'll try." Kyler said and he played next.

"Oh my gosh!" I exclaim because you have the biggest stuffed toys. Then he tried again and got a voucher.

"That's a voucher for couples, it's only limited so you're in luck, invite your girlfriend to go to the place that's written there, it's all free." Said the guard there.

"Invite Shiela now." Troy said here.

He looked at us seriously and handed over the voucher. "Just use it." He said and Troy took it. "This is your chance." Kyler said. What chance? Will Troy continue courting me even after I reject him? Kyler looked at me and gave the stuffed toy. "It's yours." He said this seriously, Troy took my other hand because I couldn't hold everything.

"We've been looking for you for a while. Oh my gosh, those are the ones you won?" Shiela asked and ran over to us. "Can it be mine? After all, you got a lot." Here, he is referring to the stuffed toy that Kyler gave me.

"Just play so you can get it too." Val said here.

"No I want this, please Mikayla you know that it's my favorite right? Can you give this to me?"

"Uhmmm." I hesitated but he pulled it because I had no choice but to give it. I won't stop until he gets it.

"Thank you Mikayla." He said and hugged me. I looked at Kyler, he seems disappointed. He shook his head and turned away.

"Kyler look is cute, isn't it? I want more like this, can you play for me?" She asked Kyler. It just nodded.

They enjoyed playing while I just watched them. Prizes that the boys get are also given to us.

"Let's eat? I know we're all hungry, and I think the food is ready. We've cooked our favorite foods." Ken said and we went to the restaurant where we often eat "Are you flirting with Mikayla?" Shiela asked Troy while we were eating.

"I reje—."

"Yes, I will not stop flirting. I will wait." Troy interrupted what I was about to say "Troy..."

He looked at me. "Please Mikayla, don't reject me. I want to pursue you, so please. Give it to me." He said.

My friend's eyes were looking at me. Waiting for what I have to say except for Kyler.

"T-Troy "You agree, Troy is serious about you Kyler's words silenced me, our eyes met. I can't read any emotion in him.

"Hey, aren't you going to date Shiela?" I don't know why I said that. He just kept looking at me and so did I.

"Hey...you know what, let's eat. Besides, let's talk about those strays. Food doesn't taste good when it's cold." Tyra said.

I avoided looking and just ate.

"We're about to graduate. Hello, we're in college life next term. What University are we going to attend?" Val asked, everyone has their own opinion.

"When we go to college we will meet a lot of people, but I hope we will still be together. I hope our friendship will not be broken." Val said.

"Of course, we are still together. No one can match us." Ken said. He stood up and lifted the glass full of juice. "Friends forever?"

"Friends forever!" We said together and tossed him.

We've been talking to each other, Troy is next to me so he's the one I'm talking to now, from the corner of my eyes I can see how Shiela brings her face closer to Kyler, and he's still whispering. But I noticed that Kyler didn't speak, he would answer but it was short and he just nodded.

"I need to take this call." I said because Kuya was calling. I excused myself and went out for a while.

"Froilan will fetch you, just tell him where to take you."

"Alright brother, but later, we'll eat."

"Okay, just call Froilan."

"Okay "Mikey."

"Yes brother?"

"No alcohol."

"Of course. Bye."

I turned to the person next to me.

"Kyler, why did you go out?"

"I need fresh air." He said.

"Okay, I'm going in—."

"Stay here, just join me for a while." He said "Shiela might be jealous."

"So? Why? We're not in a relationship."

Indeed.

"Shiela is coming." I told him. Because I saw Shiela stand up and I knew she was going here.

I smiled at Kyler, I hooked my hand on his arm. "You know what, go flirt. Maybe you'll regret it." I said. Behind the smiles I show him is a tinge of sadness. When I said that, I felt a pain in my heart "Kayla..." He said and I think he was annoyed?

"What Kyler, it's obvious you like Shiela."

"I heard my name, are you talking about me?" Shiela asked.

I let go of Kyler.

"Yes, because I told him to flirt with you, he might even be taken away."

Shiela giggled. "What the hell, but it's true. Many people are flirting with me. But don't worry Kyler. I only want you."

"Alright, I'm about to go in, I'll leave you two." I said and rushed inside.

I feel good to be back at the table.

"They have a new dessert, want to try it?" Troy asked me.

"Another charge?"

"Yes "Oh, don't spend any more money, I'm fine here with the fruit salad."

"What are you, I'm fine. And I'm flirting with you "Alright." I consent. He called the service crew and ordered. I looked at Ken, he was busy on his cellphone. There's still a smile, there's a text mate. I turned to him who was listening to Valorie like he was thrilled.

Because I was next to Val, I elbowed him. "Maybe you can share what you are doing there." I said.

"Your grandmother is in love." Tyra said.

"Not in love, just a crush. I'll show you his picture, he's very handsome."

"Go ahead."

"Promise me you won't like him."

"Yes, I promise."

"He's in his first year of college, I just saw him when I passed by a court, he's good at basketball and cool." He said and showed me the photo of what he was talking about.

My jaw dropped when I saw that.

"Turn it?"

"Yes. How handsome is he?" It said with a smile.

He seriously has a crush on my brother? Brother Marc is the one in the photo he showed!

"Do you know the name of that?" I will ask "It's not that, that's what I'm going to find out." He said.

I scratched. It's up to him, I won't tell if his crush is my brother. It's good that he hasn't met Brother yet, for sure he's at home everyday if he has. Because I haven't introduced my family to all of them yet. Only Shiela knows them.

I didn't mean to look at Shiela and Kyler who were still outside, just as I looked, their faces came closer, I was holding my breath. What if they kiss but they don't? Kyler blew Shiela's eye. I went to sleep "Mikayla this is the desert." Troy said that's why I turned to him.

"Thank you."

"What are they?"

"Who? "Shiela and Kyler."

"They will be the first couple among our friends. I hope we will be the second." He said that's why I was shocked.

"Are you alright?" My companions asked at the same time.

Ken handed me the water and drank it.

"Thanks, I was just wondering." I said.

I took a deep breath and smiled at the worried Troy rubbing my back.

"We're leaving." Shiela said to us. He was the only one who entered, Kyler stayed outside.

"Wait, we're not done yet, are you leaving? "Because I'm feeling bad, Kyler said he's going to take me. We'll come back later." This is it. "Bye guys be careful on the way home!" He said goodbye and ran out.

I followed them with my eyes.
