4. You Will Never Believe Me

"Rise and shine, bunny girl." I awoke what I assumed to be the next morning to the worst voice I could possibly have to hear so early.

I opened my eyes to see Alex, already dressed in his less than classy, grunge styled clothes. Dark jeans that were starting to tear, a graphic tee with an unbuttoned flannel over it, and a black beanie over what I could tell was messy hair. What a stunner.

"Somebody fell asleep. I told you I would bring you home when you were done, but you didn't wake me up," much to my dismay, he helped me off the ground and onto my feet, "The

place looks nice though."

"Kill yourself," I snapped as he pulled me out of his room and downstairs.

"I won't have to if you keep talking this loud. My mom will gladly do it for me. You all are supposed to be gone. I'm not a fan of my mother's rules, but I'm an even worse fan of the repercussions of not listening to her."

He let go of me and walked into the kitchen where his three asshole friends were sitting at the island, looking hungover as ever. He stole an apple from the fruit basket and took a big bite, "Are you guys ready?" He snatched a pair of keys off the counter, "I told Stefano we were on our way to the plane an hour ago."

"I just want to sleep," Layne whined.

"Alex," a new voice called and I snapped my head in the direction of it. It sounded like a little girl.

And it was. Imagine that.

She couldn't have been any older than six, with crazy chocolate brown curls pulled back into a loose ponytail she had obviously slept all night in. She seemed kind of chunky, but it was honestly the cute kind of chunk little kids looked good with.

Another Rossi satan spawn?

"Mommy says you have to take me with you."

"No she didn't, Estelle," Alex swallowed a huge bite of apple, "Go back to bed."

She slouched and all but threw herself on the floor, "Please take me with you Lexy. I wanna get food."

I laughed at the girly name she had given him. Lexy.

"No."

"I'm telling mom that they're still here!" She screamed, "She doesn't like when you have friends over and you know that."

He almost mimicked her exact stance when he slumped forwards, "Get in the fucking car!"

Huh, claims he's a daredevil and gets off on the challenge, but he still can't deal with his own mother and her rules.

Amateur.

"So I take it you're taking one of your own cars then," Layne stated whilst rubbing her temples with her black polished fingertips.

"Yeah," Alex put the sunglasses that were on top of his head over his eyes and proceeded to walk out of the kitchen, "Meet me at the hangar."

---------------------------------------

"How the fuck is this even possible?" Alex hit his hands against the steering wheel of the black Audi a4 he claimed was his, but that just meant mommy and daddy had to buy it for him.

My dad bought me a car, but it wasn't an expensive one. He looked for safety and dependability in the car he bought for me, not style because I got stuck with a blue ford fusion I decided to name Blueberry for obvious reasons.

Alex was turning out to be kind of like my dad in a weird way.

The dude wasn't a fan of traffic of any sorts.

"Can you shut up? You've already made my head hurt enough as it is." I told him.

"Can I just drop you off here?" He said in a girly tone I assumed he was using

to mock me.

"Gladly," I put my hands on the door handle and just waited for him to come to a complete stop before bailing. He never stopped though.

"Are you going to tell me where to go or do I just have to assume I'm taking you to the docks? Ya know, the place your dad usually takes people when he wants them off the face of the earth?"

"If the my dad's people see this car, they'll shoot and I don't really wanna die so, stop the car now."

"No. What kind of a host would I be if I made my guest walk home? And besides, you think my mother would get me a car that wasn't fully upgraded? Everything on here's bullet proof, babe."

I cringed.

"Wait," Estelle said from the backseat

and I almost forgot she was there. "You're Sophia D'Amico? Ew."

And she suddenly wasn't cute anymore. She became Alex instantly.

"Just go straight," I said to Alex as we came to an intersection.

"Alrighty. I guess I probably should let you off a little earlier than your stop. Don't really wanna get shot today either."

I rolled my eyes and waited a couple more minutes before telling him to stop the car. I'd have a longer walk than I had originally hoped for, but at this point I didn't really care. I just wanted to be away from these de Rossi losers.

He slammed on the brakes, knowing that it would send me flying into the dashboard.

I threw off my seatbelt, opened the door and stomped outside in a fit of

pure rage.

I started walking down the long stretch of road, really wishing I had my phone right about now. I needed to call my dad.

"Hey, if your dad asks," Alex rolled down his window and shouted, "My family never mingled with you. I feel like we're just kind of getting along with each other and I am not going to be the reason your dad goes to war with my mom."

I gave him a dumb look, meaning I wasn't even going to think about not telling him. "I'll see what I can do."

"You're a bad liar. Peace out, SoSo."

I was relieved to see him turn the car around and speed off in the opposite direction. There really wasn't anything better than this.

Silence. Complete bliss.

It was so great that the walk didn't even seem like a long one. I was at the front gate in minutes.

I walked up to the side entrance to see Marco and Alonzo. They both gave me relieved looks, before slumping their very stiff shoulders, "Soph," Marco sighed, "Thank God. Where have you been? You look like a mess," he threw an arm over my shoulder and Alonzo pulled out his phone most likely to call my dad as we all walked through the gate.

"It's a long story," I sighed, "And I honestly want to tell my dad before anyone else."

"I don't blame you. Are you alright though? You don't look so good."

"Well, I just had the worst twelve hours of my life and I literally thought I was going to die. Other than that though, yeah I'm swell," it sounded a little too

going to die. Other than that though, yeah I'm swell," it sounded a little too sarcastic for my liking, but oh well.

My house was one of the first ones on the street, so the walk wasn't that long. I even saw that my dad was home because his car was parked in the driveway. Well that and he was standing right in front of the door with mom at his side.

They both looked worried.

"Where were you?" Dad asked, he almost sounded angry and that shocked me considering I had done nothing wrong. Hell, we were lucky to be talking to each other right now. I very well could have died last night at the hand of Italia Ross de Rossi.
