CHAPTER 16 :

We end up entering a restaurant which is near to the hotel. It's small, intimate and surprisingly cozy.

The chairs are plush and are coloured a shade of dark blood red, which complements the dark furniture in the room, with a few abstract paintings hanging on the walls.

We seat ourselves on the table nearest to the road, sitting opposite to eachother, as the waiter scrambles in to take our order.

"What would you like to have, sir?"

I give Lucas a pleading look, asking him to order what he wants.

"I'll have whatever you're having." He gives in. What a gentleman!

I look up at the waiter, and say, "Two steaks. Medium fries. Green vegetables."

The waiter furiously jots it down in his notepad.

"Some wine, sir?"

"Two glasses of the Barossa Valley Shiraz."

"Sure, sir." He walks away.

When I look at Lucas, he's already staring at me. What gives?

"Lucas, you alright?"

He suddenly jumps up from the chair and sits down again. Woah, I must've startled him.

"Um…the buttons of your shirt are still open."

"I like it this way. It's hot in here." I smirk.

I see a ghost of a smile on his face.

"So, tell me about yourself." I say.

"I'm a guy who's 27 years old. My birthday is on 7th July. I love working. I play the piano. What else can I say?"

I nod. The information is fairly detailed. I'm impressed. The guy is as talented as he looks.

Suddenly a girl with a sky blue blouse and black satin skirt, comes up to me.

What happened? Go away!

"Damian Godfrey, I see." She exclaims as her eyes scan me and travel down from my face to the unbuttoned shirt.

God, no. Fuck this. I'm tired of this silly girl swooning over me.

I give her a brief nod. She blushes and tucks a strand of her hair behind her ear. I can't take this any further. I almost want to get up and push her out of this restaurant.

I scowl at her, as my mouth presses into a hard line. The girl takes the hint, that I'm not interested and she's getting on my nerves. So, she decides to come to the point.

"I'm Stacia Gray. And, I'm from the press. Can I take a picture of you, Damian and Mr…?" She casually eyes Lucas.

"You may call me Mr. Godfrey and this is Mr. Carter." I snap, glowering at her.

I hate people addressing me by my first name, until they're close to me.

Lucas has a smug smile on his lips. What is he playing at? This guy has already made me fuck him, though I never fuck the staff. And now, he's smiling when I'm clearly irritated. God, what's with him?

"Um…sorry, Mr. Godfrey and Mr. Carter, can I have a picture?"

"Sure." My tone is clipped and utterly formal.

And she finally clicks a picture of us both, in a restaurant sitting opposite to eachother. Now, atleast that's dealt with.

The waiter scurries in with our food and places to glasses of wine on our table and leaves. Good, I like privacy.

"It's clearly irritating to see men and women salivating over you all the time. Isn't it?" He smirks at me.

"Patience is not something which I pride myself in. And, I don't have patience for people swooning over me, like that." I hiss.

"You would rather it was me?" He grins.

"I have started to like the idea of it." I wink at him.
